Since the last patch i am experiencing a lot of Server not responding problems and also i get stuck many times without the SnR message showing. During a mission today i suddenly got pushed beak c to the far end of the map without warning. Same happened in Fastest game on Ice today, i ended up in the Gazebo, near the race official after i almost had 50% of the race done.
Had a 25 second SnR in bug hunt, a 65 Second SnR in sirius Sector block and a lot (and i mean really a lot) 15-30 SnRs no matter where i was, missions, sector space, WW
I had the same problem two weeks ago. Between DC's and SnR's I decided to avoid joining any Team Missions. Not fair to the other people on the team whenever I go missing because of something beyond my control.
Since I couldn't play anyway, I went into Settings on the Loader and changed "On-demand Patching" to "Force verify". Took about twenty minutes or so to complete. So I had some Quality Lurk time here, lol. It did not completely cure the problem, but it did cut it down to the very occasional hiccup rather than dropping me out or rubberbanding me constantly. When Force verify is completed, the Loader reverts automatically to On-demand Patching.
A six year old boy and his starship. Living the dream.
I have lots of connection problems and lag for meanwhile 2 weeks... but since last patch it got even worse
the game has become unplayable
and atm I am not even able to login anymore

tried that. Didn´t help.
rigtht now it is basically onplayable. several Snrs per minute.
FOr example: i just played "Assimilation". just on the short way through the last room, after killing the Assimilate d undine Boss i had 6 SnRs. 2 times it pushed me back from the Vinculum to the Door. Same with almost every other mission.

But i have this problem since the last patch. My connection speed is great and i played STO with far slower connection speed and also with more internet connection problems.
I don´t think that it´s a coincidence that i have this problem since the last patch and not before.
I can´t even play ToI anymore. I always get disqualified because i find myself somewhere on the map and therefore "left the track".

No, it is not. Your connection speed is over 1 second between you and cryptic. You could not have played with a worse connection; after a certain threshold is reached the client gives up and suicides... and you are *there* so there is no way it played fine with "worse".
Of course you can't play TOI. Its over a second of latency. You go for 1+ seconds thru a curve without turning and that is clearly going to throw you out of bounds.
It may be related to the patch. But the cryptic server is *quite* responsive. I downloaded the big patch in like 5 min. I have pings all the way to the server that are better than some of your single step hops. If the server were messed up, *everyone* would have horrible problems, not just a handful of folks. It is possible that the patch somehow slowed your PC to a crawl somewhere else, starving the comms thread, but the problem really seems to be the long & slow route it takes from you to them.

I am just talking about my connection speed. i played STO wit h speeds around 4000 kbit/sec without problems. Now i have about 20.000 and lag. And its not me. I have heard that from other players in Germany too.
And i can´t deny that the ping is very high but again, i have that problem since the patch day. Everything before that worked nicely.
I donßt know how Ping tests actually work but even above 180 (even if cryptic says its the upper limit) worked good. But at the 7th hop (7/14)i get results at around 290 thats somewhere between here and PWE or how.
ever since Q winter event started the i get the SnR messages in the evening (GMT 18:00). and this goes on every evening!
during the day it works perfectly fine as it worked before Q event.
so fix the servers since its definitelly not our end!
Obviously it's not the servers or we'd have thousands of posts that there are server issues. If it's at a specific time, and it's peak time for your network activity then that could also be a reason that is causing your SnR but not everyone else.

Not every player is active on this forum or any forum at all but i know from several other players ( also most of them german, like me) who are experiencing the same problems. And there are also several comments about intense lagging on the STO facebook page
Oh and btw because noroblad just explained to be why it is obvious that i have problems in ToI and Fastest game on Ice (my fault because i confused ToI with the race) i did a pathping test before and while i was playing. I am sorry that i forgot to copy it so i can´t post it her but all the numbers were higher than the patchping i posted yesterday, which means that it should be worse right? but i had no SNRs this time and no pushbacks. nothing. even with a ping at around 225 i could play Bug hunt advanced without getting pulled back, stuck or even killed.
I don´t know whats the reason for this. Its abslutely not the ping alone. Could also be something on your side or somewhere between, i don´t know. But, again, its since that patch and nothing about my internet connection or my ISP changed but i could play without any interruption before that.

That's the thing. Things can change online with internet connections from day to day, and how things find their way to other places also changes and it can be random or expected. Path ping is only a part it. It could be there was lag on that instance, there could of been an internet spike in your area, there could of been a hiccup inbetween your connection and the server etc.

the short answer is that it looks like your ISP is throwing away your data packets... Why this is the case, only your ISP knows, so you should contact them and ask why... The connection also suffers from excessive network latency, with 180 ms being the Cryptic recommended upper limit on network latency for reliable game play...
Well it isnt "our" ISP but more the internet backbone in frankfurt from above.net.
I did now the pathping aswell and got similar results:
is there any workaround to fix this? i tried the EU patch server but with no luck!
Maybe, maybe not. Symptoms can be caused be Hop #4 not properly sending, or Hop #5 not properly receiving... In either case, its an issue with the ISP Gateway to the Backbone Provider. And technically, the ISP does have some influence, as they're paying for the Backbone bandwidth, which in your case, you are not getting...
If the EU 'Proxy' setting doesn't help, there isn't much you can do. In desperation, you could try the US 'Proxy' setting, though this is unlikely to work...

Did you know that the 20k connection is the max speed you can get, but not granted? Your Average speed can lie way below this mark, depending on the distance between your computer and the ISP's hub you're connected to. If it's right in front of your door, you might get the 20K, but 200 m away, you might have 10k on a good day. On a bad day, you might even get less than those 4k you had before...
I'm german, too, and have a similar experience regarding these connection problems. Between 18:00 and about 22:00, it's almost impossible for me to play, as I ususally don't even get in. Happens with NWO, as well. Other stuff, like YouTube, seems to run well, but looking at the resolution played, I only get 240-480p instead of HD, and trying to set it to HD will cause it to slow down to a point where you'd feel like you are back to ISDN.
In my opinion, this points to our beloved Telekom, which doesn't seem to be able to handle the evening traffic, anymore. Or someone's rerouting and reading our game traffic.
I think I'll go and try this tracert thingie, just to see what happens.
ETA: Here are the test results. I hope they can help finding the issue(s).

It not good when you loose 60% of your data packets after they go past your local router. This means either something is wrong with either the Router, or the Modem/Gateway, or some other hardware related item (loose cable?)
Reboot both your Router and Modem/Gateway and see if this improves the condition. If it doesn't, you should contact your ISP Technical support and have them send someone out to take a look at the modem/gateway unit...
Did another test run, now that it runs quite smooth again... Still losing 49% on that place. Guess that's the reason for some oddities I encounter ingame.
Will run another test tommorrow morning and see if there's any difference.

I am getting SnR, but not all the time. it only happens when I am trying to do a race, either Fast and Flurrious or Fastest Game on Ice. I will be in the middle of one, or just waiting for the start, when a SnR pops up and I can't compete! This is very annoying!!

Actually, 59% is really really bad... Bad enough to make any indications of packet loss further down the connection route unreliable...
I had far worse results than his and it worked perfectly. it worked with a ping of 214 without noticable problems. My problems started on the 12.12 with the patch then around the 16th everything was okay again (ping down to 60-140) till yesterdays patch.

Well here's mine maybe it's my luck but I seem to only "not respond" during the races. I would say It's been going on for a week now. I tired a few other MMOs and noticed no similar problems
I normally come in 1st or second easy, but now I'm lucky if even finish the race. Even the daily will toss me OOB sometimes. I have MUCH fewer problems outside Winter Wonderland.
This is after /renew and /release. I replaced my IP with TRIBBLE.TRIBBLE.TRIBBLE.x

Nothing is wrong with the 'Trace Route' results, so its not a network latency issue...
'Net Test' shows you can't maintain the 300 KB/sec or better sustained network throughput on a connection, which indicates you have some sort of connection quality issue of some kind..
Now that 'Path Ping' results, ITS INCOMPLETE!!!, so where's the rest of the output???
Now this explains why you have a connection quality issue. Data packets are being dropped all along your connection route, starting from your DSL router. (For a reliable connection, you should be having ZERO PACKET LOSS...)
Looks like its time to contact your ISP Tech Support, and ask them about the lost packet problem...
I've had the same since the patch 2wks ago. First week of Q winter wonderland was great until that patch last Thursday then that system crash that lasted for 4hrs. Since then I've been having trouble. Today (12-20) been getting disconnected ever 5min. Please fix...........

g.o. I seem to be having a similar issue with my ISP but it's limited to two places in my pathping
I tried flushdns on two of my avatars but the SnR issues continued.
EDIT: I spoke to tech support from my ISP after I posted this. The guy said the two instances with 100 percent packet loss -- number 5 and 9 -- were "normal" and nothing more than a hiccup. He suggested that I login again into the game, or check the signal strength of my net connection's router after a d/c, or check with Cryptic/PWE tech support. My impression of our conversation is that what happens down the line is out of his control.

People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect. But actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey ... stuff. --the Doctor, "Blink"

When Force verify is completed, the Loader reverts automatically to On-demand Patching.
the game has become unplayable
and atm I am not even able to login anymore

I know my connection isn´t the best but i have had a worse connection but still STO was running perfectly
It is possible that the patch somehow slowed your PC to a crawl somewhere else, starving the comms thread, but the problem really seems to be the long & slow route it takes from you to them.
during the day it works perfectly fine as it worked before Q event.
so fix the servers since its definitelly not our end!

Well it isnt "our" ISP but more the internet backbone in frankfurt from above.net.
I did now the pathping aswell and got similar results:
C:\Users\user>pathping patchserver.crypticstudios.com
Routenverfolgung zu patchserver.crypticstudios.com [208.95.185.41]
Maybe, maybe not. Symptoms can be caused be Hop #4 not properly sending, or Hop #5 not properly receiving... In either case, its an issue with the ISP Gateway to the Backbone Provider. And technically, the ISP does have some influence, as they're paying for the Backbone bandwidth, which in your case, you are not getting...
If the EU 'Proxy' setting doesn't help, there isn't much you can do. In desperation, you could try the US 'Proxy' setting, though this is unlikely to work...

I guess this is a result of the above measurements...

Looks like its time to contact your ISP Tech Support, and ask them about the lost packet problem...
