This old-fashioned thing called a "book". Preferably ones of the Sci-Fi/Fantasy genre, though my girlfriend introduced me to some good Sci-Fi/Fantasy books that would be classed as romance as well (no, not Twilight and not 100 Shades of Gray. I draw the line at Mary Sues, Sparkly Vampires, and terrible TRIBBLE).

Speaking of Twilight, I was actually impressed by the author's book after Twilight, The Host. It is a Sci-Fi/Romance novel that was turned into a movie. The Host deals with alien parasites that have pretty much taken over the world with only a few free human are left. The host is in love and that affects the parasite to track down the host's boyfriend. It has none of the garbage that Twilight is known for.

I think I may have gotten up to 2.2.31 before I made 2.3.1.

Oh, I'm not really using PBW, or I'd already have tried to go with that one. 'Simultaneous Movement' takes too many other things away from the game, like tactical combat. :(

Infinite possibilities have implications that could not be completely understood if you turned this entire universe into a giant supercomputer.p3OEBPD6HU3QI.jpg

I wish people would stop comparing STO, SC and Elite: Dangerous.

They are 3 very different animals and to say one is better than the other is quite frankly ridiculous. Its the differences that make EACH of them interesting and eachof them are engaging in their own ways.

I've got the Mercenary pack for Elite: Dangerous so I'm champing at the bit to get going tomorrow! That said, however, I will not abandon STO. I'm a LTS so quitting isn't an option but I sure that the percentage of my play time will be more in ED's favour from tomorrow.

my alternative to STO is The Secret World, and alternatively a board game or a good book.

Currently most my time and money goes into SWTOR and Guild Wars 2.

I also picked up Sins Of A Solar Empire: Rebellion, which is using the ST Armada 3 mod.

MWO and SWTOR. Took 2 games to replace the amounts of time and money I was giving to Craptic. If I could return my LTS I would.

And really the only factor that killed this game was the insane equipment upgrade dilithium grind. The slow XP and myriad other nerfs were not even a factor in my not playing.

I don't really have an alternative game. If CoH was still around, well I'd be playing that. If my system met the requirements for TSW I'd probably be playing that. It's kind of a playing STO by default, because other games are simply something I'm no longer interested in - was never interested in - or am interested in but simply can't play because of the requirements. Course, I've been watching more and more of the oddest things on Netflix of late...

I had an old vendetta with GTA: San Andreas. I have 100% completed every GTA game except San Andreas, so a couple of months ago I obtained a copy for my PC and finally put the old vendetta to bed.

And if you like the old GTA:SA and you would like to try it with some shenannigans, then I do recommend the Multiplayer platform which you can download for free, and you can play on player modified MMO versions of San Andreas. Lots of fun :)

I despise CO. Having played with the Hero System for years upon years, when I first heard that a Champions Online game was going to be made I was overly excited about the news. Instead, they made a dumbed down game for players that couldn't handle the lolcomplexity of CoH...

I wish DCUO hadn't been designed as a console game, cause the controls suck for PC...imho.

The only PWE/Cryptic game that I've tried playing of late was Swordsman, and despite the awesome work done with rigging and animations for TRIBBLE on female toons - the overall combination of gameplay and being absolutely riddled with bots drove me away. I could tell early on that it would be a disappointment for me, though it had many features that I told folks about in the hopes of getting them to talk to Cryptic about introducing them here.

It's really too bad they killed it....

When not playing STO? Im working or chasing my one year old.. Best game ever.. Waiting for Star Citizen.. not sure if Ill spend the money though, for its grandeur, it looks extreme in price to have anything but a snub fighter so I will likely never actually play... Waiting for a reasonable game with Capitol ships that doesnt yank money like a new car....

SWG became a job for me, and so I actually left before the CU/NGE stuff. It had been around 3 months that I had gone without actually participated in any combat, I was just collecting resources - crafting - and running my shop. I do kind of miss my salesgirls in their fleshwraps with the customizable dialogue. But yeah, it became a case of feeling I was logging in to work...heh, my Star Wars Galaxies Second Life sort of thing...I stepped away. Gaming is one thing...that wasn't gaming, that was a preamble to seeking psychiatric counseling.

You'd be surprised. There are a lot of Capital ship oriented corporations out there to join and have fun with the big ships.

Getting something like a Frigate would take a bit of effort, but either way you'll need a team to run it well.
    Chris Robert's on SC:
"You don't have to do something again and again and again repetitive that doesn't have much challange, that's just a general good gameplay thing."

That's what I've been doing as well. And imagine for their winter event they just gave everyone a ton of loot as a log in bonus today!

Not to mention the creator of the Doff system is one of the devs over there. Great game, great company. Only downside is I tire of the ARPG design style much faster than I would like.

Yah the devs over there are some of the best i've seen in any mmo game, and i'm not just saying that. They are pretty active on the forums with most issues that come up. I didnt know that the doff creator person was a dev over there. But i did know that a lot of them were involved in the original D2.

And i'm the same way as you i think. I get bored of ARPG style games too fast. But my time playing MHa few months ago lasted about as long as my current STO stretch so no biggie. I'll probably be playing Marvel Heroes for a few months until i will want to do something else again.

DC Universe Online -and- Star Wars: The Old Republic

I only play STO anymore when I have the overwhelming urge to fire phasers and photon torpedoes. But I have to say that urge is coming less and less since Delta Rising...

If i wanted to do the same things over and over again on the forums ,I would just play the bloody game.
This. But I tire of the constant 3rd party spamming, griefers, and broken codes, so it's back to cherished classics like MTW: Kingdoms, S2TW, Ground Control 2, HomeWorld2, and of course, Alien Crossfire. :P

Right now Minecraft. I help to build 1:1 scale star ships on the minetrek.net game server. I have personally contributed to the Enterprise D project, as well as being the lead builder for all of the Enterprise efforts from the TOS thru the Ambassador and Probert Enterprise C's. I have designed and build more than 30 full sized and completely deck interior Star ships including Saber, Norway, Defiant, Voyager, Federation, New Orleans, Sovereign, Nebula, Constitution, Constellation, etc.

These ships are huge and take a considerable amount of free time to build out. While we have switched to importing 3d hulls, we still must put a ton of time into each hull, building the full interiors including systems, sub systems, rooms, corridors, Jefferies tubes, hangers, shuttles, etc.

If you play minecraft and want to check out some of the iconic ships of star trek, by all means come visits the server.
