Right now Minecraft. I help to build 1:1 scale star ships on the minetrek.net game server. I have personally contributed to the Enterprise D project, as well as being the lead builder for all of the Enterprise efforts from the TOS thru the Ambassador and Probert Enterprise C's. I have designed and build more than 30 full sized and completely deck interior Star ships including Saber, Norway, Defiant, Voyager, Federation, New Orleans, Sovereign, Nebula, Constitution, Constellation, etc.
These ships are huge and take a considerable amount of free time to build out. While we have switched to importing 3d hulls, we still must put a ton of time into each hull, building the full interiors including systems, sub systems, rooms, corridors, Jefferies tubes, hangers, shuttles, etc.
If you play minecraft and want to check out some of the iconic ships of star trek, by all means come visits the server.
Ill just say it: genuine satisfaction with the game at the moment is subpar. Im not going to get into the whys or hows, or whose fault it is. Those conversations have been debated to death; no sense in exhuming those horses.
Again.
I wont lie a large group of players will remain and, frankly, thats a good thing. As broken as STO is now it is the ONLY Star Trek-based MMORPG and, believe it or not, it CAN be fixed. As long as there is an actual will to do so
However, many of you have already been seeking out strange, new games and to boldly play what you have not played before. Perhaps permanently. Perhaps merely as distraction until the major bugs of STO are indeed fixed and the game is more playable for those without top-end equipment. Myself included.
This is not meant to be an I quit! thread or a gamebashing thread. I am simply curious if you do, indeed, have other games in mind, what are they? New MMORPGS? Old console games? PC faves?
For me, I might run through Beyond Two Souls again on the PS3 and am currently playing Dragon Age II while I wait for the release of Firefly Online. More probable than not I will be returning to STO for events and to check on the status of the game with the hopes that it becomes more playable and the rewards (i.e. marks) are more balanced. Especially in STFs (get rid of the auto-fail on all but the elite for a start.)
So what about you? Or, for a different flavour . Seen any good movies lately?
Why someone would post a thread to talk about other games and movies in the general discussion forum of this game is completely beyond me. This thread really should be moved to ten forward and OP have some sense of decency and think for moment before continuing to make these insane posts.
Ah, SW:TOR Ive played through a few of the storylines on both sides loved the ending of the Sorcerer and really enjoyed playing a female smuggler more, I have to say, than the Bounty Hunter
A decent sotry will get me every time... sure, the game has to be fun but it needs to have a good story. I wish STO would do something more career/class/race specific with storylines...

Well here's the thing... it is still somewhat STO themed as the game will still be discussed. If anything, this could be considered a "comparative" thread and, therefore, falls under the guidelines for the forum.
Why someone would attempt to derail a thread merely becuse it is a topic they do not wish to discuss is, frankly, beyond me. You are, of course, welcome to join in... or remain quiet. Your call.
I thought about SWTOR, but it's just WoW with lightsabers. Literally. I was disappointed. Plus the constant BUY CARTEL COINS spammed in every aspect of the game didn't help win me over.
I think I've been spoiled by Guild Wars 2's more fluid and responsive combat, so I can't go back to playing something static and WoW-like. However, ANet's been pushing their gem store so freagin' hard I lost interest.
Firefall's dynamic content system is pretty fun, however a lot of zones seem empty. I think everyone's sticking to starting zones since the environment is more colorful and attractive compared to the end-game zone, which is a lava-blasted wasteland and some jungle.
Also thought about Elite: Dangerous. I might pick it up, but I'd want to play it proper. Which means I need to find me a flight stick and some peripherals.
Also got a bunch of Steam games I never finished. Now's as good a time as any to finish those I guess...
None, for me there is only STO.
I do look at other games I used to play as their series continues (Assassins creed, Dragonage, Mass effect, Star wars battlefront), and look forward to playing them someday when the lights of STO go out or my pc dies.
But for me, for now, there is only STO.

why is it when someone says they wont attack sto in one form or another or some relation or another to the game directly, they go and state the opposite? everytime i see this type of comment the whole argument always falls on its face before its even moved? i dont understand the purpose of these self-defeating threads.
the answer to what im looking at is interest in the game is based no how good it is, including how good the craftsman ship of the product is, that includes what players considered broken features. so if thats the case why is it still up for debate by the op, when clearly the op stated its a dead issue?
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
I don't have time to play another game. All gaming time I get per week is for STO. So far I'm still enjoy the game. So I don't want to change games at this time. And still have plenty to do on the game.
However I do watch movies or TV shows during family time. Which comes first since that is all about family.

Elite: Dangerous at least for a while, then maybe ESO again (if they fix what I want fixed), some Path Of Exile, some Mount and Blade Warband and maybe Bannerlord and a lot of other single player games I have.
STO is just one of my many games and I regularly stop playing it for weeks at a time, like I do with every game.

I'll bite... although I know I shouldn't.... where within this thread have I openly attacked STO? I've merely asked what some people are planning to investigate in the future?
And before you insist I "attacked" sto by pointing out the dissatisfaction felt by a large percentage of players, that would be akin to "attacking" McDonald's for saying you miss the McRib when it's not around.
If ever I find another game that replaces (1:1) STO, its probably going to be Warhammer 40k the eternal crusade. STO works well for me right now because it puts me into the middle of a big franchise with a generally inoffensive action game that does a bit better with combat mechanics than your typical MMO (ie. its not just staring down at a power bar rattling off combos ad infinitum.) I'm playing a few other games at the moment but because they aren't that, they take on different roles than being the online RPG staple. The Warhammer 40k MMO might, we'll just have to see.

Also I will point out as someone who likes to get stats right that you can't actually say that STO is seeing dissatisfaction among a large percentage of players. You see a lot of whining on this forum, but there's no way to judge from that just what proportion of the population said whiners make up. Dissatisfaction felt by some percentage of players would be the more accurate/pedantic way of putting it. :P

I am not playing any other mmo's at the moment and anything I am interested in is still under development with a good 1+ years before it will become a game. That being said I am having fun in this game (I know many others aren't but I still am so there lol) and I will remain playing for as long as I have fun.
Good Question : I don't really know yet ... apart from some Single-Player Games like X-Com, The Long Dark, The Forest, some Adventures (Telltale, Dreamfall Chapters i.E.) and whatever I'm gonna get from the Steam Holiday Sale ...
... I'm still looking for an "long-term" Alternative after the Winter Event ...
- Elite Dangerous ... maybe ... maybe not ... not sure if I wanna put 50 in "maybe" ...
- SWTOR ... tried it for a few hours but meh ... maybe I'll give it another try ...
- WoW again ... dunno not really "my thing" anyway ...
- Rift ... dunno sounds like more of the same Fantasy **** ...
... so for now probably back to "Birth of the Federation" to get my Star Trek fix (last match being pre-STO), maybe another run of "Elite Force" & "Bridge Commander" if it still works on Win7 ... Skyrim MODs & Civilization 3 for "long-term" ... maybe play more "FTL" & "Endless Space" ...
Patch Notes : Resolved an Issue, where people would accidently experience Fun.
I've been meaning to buy and play Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion. I played the TRIBBLE out of SoaSE and it has offered hours upon hours of re-playability. SO I think I'll use that as my methadone from ST:O. The repeated nerfs and deaf ears are simply too much.
On a related note, if any of you folks HAVEN'T played Gratuitous Space Battles, I strongly encourage it. Such fun and it somewhat sates my desire for the pew pew!
PS - I also heard that the game Homeworld is getting a high-res update...I think I'll buy that game again. So amazing!
I decided to get back into WildStar. So much fun to play as a scientist and uncover all the lore behind that game
Other than that, i've been playing a lot of Hyrule Warriors too. Plus, i just got the full blu-ray box set of TNG, so if i DO want a fix of trek, it's right there on my shelf now
i also recently got back into The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth. True, that game shafts you almost as much as STO, but at least it's up-front and honest about it XD
Real Temporal Operative: Purchased the Special Temporal Agent pack before it was even officially announced!
Quite interesting, but the link you provided only leads to a top-down visual of the ships that are on display...real-time map, it appears to be....
I'd love to visit, but have zero building skills!
Toss me a message in-game or on here, sometime!
p.s.: Which version of Minecraft does that server run on?
There is an option on the upper right to view from right or left angle. The builds are quite large and the map doesn't do them justice. The J for example is amazingly large. The D in most cases cannot be rendered in all her glory on anything but a high end machine.
The version currently is 17.1.0 - 1.8.x is under review by the server owner and we are waiting on plug ins for it.
The Voyager, the build we are focused on atm is nearing completion while the Defiant is already completed.
What happened to those unique forum ranks I paid for?
