My guess is "hope" keeps people not playing but posting on the forums. For others, its a path of sad realization and closure. Grieving takes time. The worst "haters" here love the game, or did at some point.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard: "We think we've come so far. Torture of heretics, burning of witches, it's all ancient history. Then - before you can blink an eye - suddenly it threatens to start all over again."
"With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censured, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably."
OMG seriously what's with the same threads, asking the same Questions, If i wanted to do the same things over and over again on the forums ,I would just play the bloody game.
This doesn't surprise me in the slightest. No wonder you have such a narrow view of STO...
Chris Robert's on SC:
"You don't have to do something again and again and again repetitive that doesn't have much challange, that's just a general good gameplay thing."
I dislike Windows 8 so much! I'm still using Windows 7. Waiting to see what Microsoft's new OS is going to be... I might be convert back to Mac :P
As I use it, I have been liking 8.1 on my desktop a freaking lot - and this is from someone who hung on to XP for many uses until two years ago.
Once the tile screen is no longer the default on boot, I have found it to be functionally nearly identical to 7, with better search functionality, surprisingly more powerful management features in a few areas, and a helluva lot more stable for me than 7 ever was, even on the same hardware.
Not to mention the boot times...cold boot to usable OS in about 6 seconds is phenomenal.
The one thing it took me a while to actually use was the cloud integration - so I picked up a Windows phone, tablet, and Asus Transformer and gave it a whirl - I gotta say, I actually like the ecosystem even better than Apples, aside from the dreadful lack of Windows apps.
8 sucks, 8.1 isn't at all bad once you use it for a few days.

Civilization V and I might reload Sins of a Solar Empire. Also, Skyrim is calling my name again
I'm currently waiting for a mod with spear gameplay to be finished to start skyrim again. Some clever guy found a way to add the animations without replacing any. Sounds awesome.
The Crew! Although just a racing game with a few MMO elements. The story is decent, there is plenty of variety to keep yourself busy with, the graphics are good, and one giant seemless map!

Star Wars: TIE Fighter, Papers Please, and oddly enough, Euro Truck Simulator. Never thought a truck driving game would end up being far more fun than STO

I know this is off topic, but your sig is brilliant xD
Simcity
Goat Simulator
Battlefield 4 (rarely)
DC Universe
I used to play WOW, but the content got stale and the encounters too easy. Also, the community got really bad.
Yay Goat Sim!
And yeah, WoW's community goes through some really, really, really nasty flip flops from decent to hellish. I went back recently and things seem to have settled into normalcy again, but I'm sure that it's only a temporary respite.

No one said eve yet, so I will say I play EVE( I really do though). It honestly is not the best game, but its good enough. Like one other guy said though, it is kind of grindy, but thats only to fund your pvp ships, thats where the fun is at, pvp. EVE is "ok" imo

More STO!!
Otherwise, some classics like SimLife, Civ 4, SE5, HL2, Duke3d. The normal range for an aging gamer.

I admit I still have fun with my Sci character.
I find that sci abilities amuse the hell out of me.

I listed some of my other games in the appropriate thread in Ten Forward, where such a thread belongs.
