My guess is "hope" keeps people not playing but posting on the forums. For others, its a path of sad realization and closure. Grieving takes time. The worst "haters" here love the game, or did at some point.
However, when you consider a $60 game vs. two T6 ships at $30 each or a three pack at $55, it's not really that outrageous a cost.
i paid 50$ for mine but let the sto player live in la la land and ppl forget this game was not always free there once was a sub there was once a base game you had to buy

Yup, I own the Digital Deluxe of STO, and paid from a little after release up until F2P.
Doesn't make a smidge of difference at this point in time though.

try you can grind them for free with ingame money........same with SC but yall would not know that
So I could grind for that $300 pledge ship in SC that is no longer available? Seems like a really awful thing to do for players that supported the game early on.

I'm not sure if it's true of all of them, but IIRC at least some of the SC pledge ships are special in that they are free and have permanent full coverage insurance, not that other players can't buy them.
Also.... you can grind in STO to buy Z-Store ships.... so I fail to see how ED or SC is better there.
I havent been playing STO much the past week. Maybe just logging on long enough to refine dil...but i'm starting to not even do that.
Tried reinstalling EVE online but i dont feel like playing it much anymore. I tried starting a new trial but i dont feel like doing that again. I would rather play my old toons but i dont want to pay the sub, or even play and earn in game currency to buy a sub token. I also downloaded the old Simcity 2000 when i read that EA was offering it for free.
I've been spending a lot of time the past week playing Marvel Heroes. They are constantly adding new heroes and they even added some new zones. If you guys like the RPG games that are similar in style to Diablo 2, then take a look at Marvel Heroes. I believe you can install and start playing for free. You can buy new heroes just by playing the game. The currency that drops that allows you to buy heroes drops from any mob that is on-level with you, and they are on a set timer. They drop every 6-8 minutes as long as you are killing mobs. And thats a guaranteed drop you arent going to go long periods of time without seeing the currency drop. And unlike some other games you can pick whatever activity you want or that you find fun and grind out the currency to buy the heroes you want.
I think the game was released a year and a half ago or so? they came out with like 20 something heroes. They now have 42 heroes and more coming on the way. They even allow you to play "villian" type characters. You can play as Magneto, Juggernaut and pretty soon they are releasing Venom. About the only thing you will have to pay real money for are costumes, but those arent a requirement. You can actually get random costumes in game but its random and there are 42 heroes.
hm well past few weeks, downloaded steam bought company of heros 1 and 2 and all the packs/expansions/dlcs hm supermacy 1914 browser game thought about playing dayz arma 2 mod do enjoy frankieon1080p youtube vids tried a few others tower defense was included too lol mostly left those :P
That's what I've been doing as well. And imagine for their winter event they just gave everyone a ton of loot as a log in bonus today!
Not to mention the creator of the Doff system is one of the devs over there. Great game, great company. Only downside is I tire of the ARPG design style much faster than I would like.

For me, my main other MMO is a Grinder called Continent of the Ninth (C9). Interesting PvE and it satisfies my Scrapper-lockitis.
If you think Cryptic is bad w/the C-Store, C9's Store is a bit worse and the Forum Mods there are actually somewhat more non-existent there than here.
Thank you for the time...

Cryptic, would you actulaly like me to spend actual Money? It's Simple:
Full, Story-driven, select from start 1-50 Klingon Side
Scrap current Lock Box & Lobi system for something more reasonable
Expand Dil and Rep/Fleet Marks to regular story content
Returned to a couple of old favorites, "Rail Simulator 2015" and "Europa Universalis IV". Tried to finish "Dead Mountaineer's Hotel" but it's just so clunky and bad. Replayed "Scratches: Director's Cut" which is an oldie but a goodie in terms of spooky environment/mystery.
Tried a couple of new games, "The Vanishing of Ethan Carter" which is amazing, and "The Stanley Parable" which is hilarious and worthwhile just for the voiceover and the unintentional fridge horror of comparing what the narrator says to STO...
As for the OP, check out I am bread ... playing a slice of white bread with deeper character development than toons in STO
It was actually one of your posts a while back that got me interested. I had no idea the game even existed. I've always been a fan of the series. I think the game is very well done. I really enjoy it. I only wish there was a single player component as well.

Because it doesn't work like that. First off the Lifetime Insurance only covers the ship and it's base loadout. Anything extra you have to pay for. Same with all the other insurance policies for pledge packages.
There's literally no reason other than to support the game to buy the ships in the pledge packages. All will be available ingame to purchase or steal and well in a lot of ways much more fun to do that.
Oh and an Aurora has more detail and better texturing than all of STO's ships put together. Style is a subjective thing though so doesn't really count
If you want to complain about SC, I'd suggest actually gaining some knowledge of what you are complaining about first.
Chris Robert's on SC:
"You don't have to do something again and again and again repetitive that doesn't have much challange, that's just a general good gameplay thing."
My alternative is Alien Isolation which I will be playing after the Winter Event is over.
After that game? I don't know... I actually do not play many games. All I can say is that when Fallout 4 is finally released I will likely be taking a very long hiatus from STO.
I'm either at work or helping my parents out with decorating, the rare times I get to myself I like to take a look at these forums, maybe dabble in Dragonage Inquisition, I have just started watching 24 on amazon video too.
These are not things I do aswell as play STO, these are all I'm doing, I got 1 character to 60 and that was it, the game was boring before DR and its boring after DR. But one still lives in hope it will change..... But if I get some of my time back I will likely go back to swtor or Eso.... Both are better games imo.
This old-fashioned thing called a "book". Preferably ones of the Sci-Fi/Fantasy genre, though my girlfriend introduced me to some good Sci-Fi/Fantasy books that would be classed as romance as well (no, not Twilight and not 100 Shades of Gray. I draw the line at Mary Sues, Sparkly Vampires, and terrible TRIBBLE).
Non-Ero Visual Novels. It's the near modern "Choose your own adventure" book in digital format, and many of them are just plain fun and silly. Got one off Steam recently with a hard space strategy element during Cyber Monday that I need to get back to.
Game-wise, I have Dragon Age Inquisition, FFVII with an HD mod (because Squeenix clearly doesn't want to take my money for a true HD remake across 3-4 Blurays), Kingdom of Amalur Reckoning, Kingdom Hearts 2.5, Halo Collection, and Sword of the Stars (the failed rival to Sins of a Solar Empire) with modded race and weapons. To name a few. Oh, and Mount and Blade: Warband. Because sometimes it's fun to wage a low-tech war.

STO is not a second job compared to Eve. Mine for 6 months in the safe areas so you can go to the more dangerous areas.

Basically anything that is free, isn't STO, and is remotely fun.
When I think about everything we've been through together,
maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,
and if that journey takes a little longer,
so we can do something we all believe in,
I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.
I'm sorry to people who I, in the past, insulted, annoyed, etc.
