I have a question for the devs. The Dilithium reward for leveling was implemented to reward players after the skill trees are complete. With that removed, what is the incentive to keep playing after skill tree completion? I have only made it to 55 as of yet but was looking forward to the Dilithium. Will there be a different reward provided? I am just concerned that I will be stuck in the same max level trap were I have nothing to do.

Going by the fact their gift was removed because of a system that was open to abuse (eg exploitable) i highly doubt they will replace it. It was a nice idea but they executed it so poorly that it was basically bound to go bye bye once a few players figured out they could farm silly amounts of dil!
Yup, it will be exactly as before. Unless they have some new wonderful idea that can't be abused so easily. Maybe they could have it grant mark boxes. Marks can be turned into Dilithium, but there is a timer involved, isn't there?

Nope. The timer is a person's patience dealing with needing to fill out rep project everytime.
There's always a timer involved with dilithium. The 8k daily refine limit timer. It is utterly irrelevant how much ore someone can earn in any given time, because in the end, you can only refine 8k. Well, a bit more if you pay.
One dil reward a day from overlevelling. Keeps the reward there while at the same time capping it to prevent abuse.
After that you get a box of marks, level appropriate gear, unique doff/boff, shuttle, or a new type of overlevelling token that can be used in yet another lobi store type shop.
Would keep the PWE rng fetishists happy while giving folk something that might be useful or interesting.

I can agree with this.......
honestly it doesn't matter if it was a single lobi crystal or 100EC its the principle of the thing......
That exploit had to be taken care of quickly, like today, because today also starts the Dilithium Bonus Weekend. The idea about other stuff after a daily Dilithium reward would have been a good alternative. I mean you are only allowed to use a Rich Dilithium Claim once a day so the precedant is there.
Hey, how about making all existing Dilithium Rich Claims Account bound instead of just new ones (does the Delta Lock Box have a chance of giving those out?). Partial addressing of loss from this patch.

Perhaps I am being naive, but I thought the point of playing a game was the enjoyment. If you need there to be a reward to keep playing perhaps you are doing it wrong.
Besides it wasn't that long relatively speaking between LOR and DR expansions. Not sure if they can keep up that pace but I am sure there will be new shinies to distract you meantime.
I do agree removing the Dil reward altogether is a bit draconian, so perhaps give the dil reward portion a cooldown - 24 hours at most. Hell Make it a new daily event where you need to have max specialisation to enter.

Why did achievements get implemented in games? They usually reward nothing substantial other than bragging rights.
Because people want to be rewarded for their effort. Even if it's just a token.
Those rewards might be learning the story, level advancement, shiny new gear, clothing, whatever. The point being there is a reward for effort. It's the basic mechanic for games. If there's no reward, there's no incentive.
That being said, people's definitions of reward differ. What is a reward for you may or may not be seen as a reward to someone else, and suggesting they're playing it "wrong" because of that is somewhat arrogant.
I don't care about achievements for most Xbox games, my daughter does. Which one of us is wrong?
Cryptic said, "Here, this is the reward for that particular effort."
Now they're saying, "No, no more reward for that particular effort."
If you were in the middle of a mission because you were interested in the story, and then they shut down that mission while you were in the middle of it and left it on a cliffhanger you can't get a resolution to, you might feel the same way.
Cryptic's shortsightedness and lack of basic understanding of gamers has led to a pretty big PR SNAFU on their part. People are annoyed. It's completely understandable.
Just my opinion of course....but max level is not a trap that needs to be fixed with more leveling. Max level should be the goal. With enough variety in our ships and how we can outfit them....coupled with the occasional slice of new content, we can be entertained indefinitely. All level cap increases do is provide unnecessary busy work and its just not fun to chug through in any substantial measure.
The point of leveling is to be done leveling. Keeping end game entertaining is accomplished by coming up with more creative options for us when we get there....not pushing it further out of reach.
Besides....that strategy ultimately fails for any game hoping to attract new players as the barrier to end game gets further and further out of reach.

You can thank the exploiters for this. But yeah i don't think we will ever see a dil.reward again in this game.
Or you can just give a flat bonus to dilithium rewards for content.
Such as 20% increase in dilithium rewards for completing STF's for maxed out captains.
.....well that's genius. No seriously. The very best ideas always sound simple and obvious in hindsight. A percentage bonus to pre-existing dilithium rewards means you spend far less time hitting your 8k limit each day, and also makes it impossible to exploit. You have no new or different mechanics. You just get more for doing the same things, a reward to be sure, but can't shaft the system any more or less than anyone else can.

All they had to do was give it a timer so that it can only be granted at some arbitrary rate, and it would have been fine, but they just removed it entirely. Typical Cryptic heavy handed "nuke it, it's the only way to be sure" change.

Bingo!
The dil thing is a red herring. Unless the dil you were receiving was refined and not ore, there was no potential exploit as you're bound to 8k (9k vet) per day. If it was the case it was an exploit, then I'm in a lot of trouble with all my mining claims.
I still think we levelled too quick compared to their projections and they needed to shut us down as we'll complete everything way too quick and realise there's not much actual content in this release.
what do the devs fear? That we get more than 8000 dilithium per day? Oh... yes... thats not possible.
So why limiting something that already has a (very low) limit?
You could make millions of dil ... as long there is the 8k limit you are not richer than before.
What the developers do is just incredible stupid.
Their decisions dont make any sense considering the 8k limit. Such decisions have only one effect... they let them look stupid and upset the players.
