1) Your vids are really biased. You don't even use your Attack Pattern and some other BOff powers to help in battles.
2) You seem to purposely let yourself get blown up or you're a really poor player.
3) A2B on that ship makes little sense. You whole BOff setup seems like it's intended to make life harder.
4) Most noobs would be happy to hit 5K DPS(from your previous response). I PUG ISE just to gauge the community.
Overall it seems you want the Devs to make DR as sad an experience as current content. People will have to adjust their tactics for once.
I see your point. attck pttrn alpha was cycling all the time. and omega I use as a defence tactic.(tractor and what not)
yes I sat and took a mine hit with BFI to demonstrate you cant sit still.
also I like the addition of the extra abilities.
the aux 2 batt reduces cool downs an all my abilities. and id say my boff setup is fine considering I can solo a borg encounter in it.
they are doing plenty right especialy on the ground. and enemy ai that will heal and support an ally.
but the space battles are long and boring. this is a miner battle, you usually end up ganked with 10 or more hyper bricks that spawn frigates with 70k hp and crazy shields.
a noob will be bored to tears with this. considering that my throw together cruser will likely be more powerful than anything a noob will put together with the spare parts he finds.
the cardassians were a good balance. they were powerful enough to have to think about your approach. and tanky enough to engage you for a while.
a long battle isn't always a good one. how the heck is a sci cap going to take these guys down. inside a half hour.
make them harder yes, but with ai(as we have seen) and a tad more weaponry. but not with 200-800k hulls! (borg 800k)
the only way you can combat hyper hull is with hyper dps. and that shouldn't be the name of the game. I tried dps'ing in pvp. the game became less fun and required far too much time resorses and dedication for a game.

While I think the OP overstates things, you have to realize that challenge has zip to do with why some people play games.
Although I have to say that I think if they're going to be pushing challenge, they'll get demand for an "Easy" difficulty mode below normal That "sad state" is there because people wanted it that easy. Not just because lack of skill. Because some people like no challenge, at least sometimes.
Personally, I can see how the default game is too easy.
But I also think it would have been (and still would be) a solid move to (while increasing difficulty of core content) maintain or add an easy mode. The one players have screamed for since launch and defended. It can have fewer rewards. And I actually think it would be smart to make selection of "Easy mode" a gold perk. Because I think a challenge-free experience appeals to people who probably have more money than time. So give the gold sub some value and let people play on easy.
Heck, maybe create a God-mode (replay only; not available for initial playthrough since you need to have some limits). Thinking it through, maybe a God-mode for queues but with something like 25% rewards. It would potentially be a great training system.
Just restrict Easy (a tier below normal) and God-mode (cannot die, 25% weapons boost, 75% reward reduction) to gold subs. You keep the longtime lifers and subbers happy (and I'd imagine new players aren't subbing even if they are spending). And you create a reason to sub.
People will have to adjust their tactics for once.
There is absolutely nothing you have to adjust for DR. NPC bricks is just a multiplicative factor on kill times. They aren't a "breath of fresh air" on current gameplay, they are NOTHING but an item of very poor game design (arbitrary "difficulty" spike at higher levels, which simply breaks combat design).
Want a greater challenge? Hey let's focus on that new elite setting. We don't need to make normal unaccommodating, unapproachable garbage.
Bipedal mammal and senior Foundry author.
Notable missions: Apex [AEI], Gemini [SSF], Trident [AEI], Evolution's Smile [SSF], Transcendence
Looking for something new to play? I've started building Foundry missions again in visual novel form!
Really hard to hear your commentary in the second video due to the volume of the in game effects. Maybe it's me though. Either way I got the gist of what you were trying to show, but maybe in future vids you could turn it down a bit?

it isn't you. its me im new to youtubing, and im having a hard time balancing my voice with the effects. one my voice was overbearing and others it is dround in the effects.
ud be better off muting it tbh. my voice is dull and boring

I listen more for the insight other people might have, I don't expect youtube videos to have broadcast voices or anything .
Taking videos in purposely bad builds while claiming the content is difficult is simply dishonest. And then using a poorly thought out build and purposely trying to suck, while still claiming the content is difficult is still dishonest.
My build is not good. It's a version of the DBB/2DHC/Torp escort setup which I designed to look good in action, not to perform well.
Even with that build, it only takes me about 2-3 minutes on elite to defeat a Vaadwaur battleship (3-4 if it does that thing where it dives into underspace and calls reinforcement frigates).
My tribble character is corrupted, too. The console slot I gained from upgrading is occupied by a bugged console that insists its on a different ship and thus doesn't work. He's got more points than the cap spent on skills, but he can't gain specialization points. And on top of that, I just haven't even bothered to try testing the upgrade system. All those could be fixed if I recopied, but unless they undo the 1-a-day limit on free level boosts, I just don't feel like it.
So, recap:
1. Intentionally below potential because it look cool
2. Further below potential because of pure laziness
3. Playing on a higher difficulty level
4. Still killing enemies 2-3 times faster than the video
And that's on elite, which has been buffed pretty hard - even at 2 minutes fighting those Vaadwaur artillery boats is like chewing ice during a root canal. On normal, though, it's business as usual. I've got a pretty fair shot at taking out a heavy artillery ship in one burst.

I like a challange, but hitting a brick wall for 10 min isn't fun.

Point is, your videos are pointless.
BTW: Here's my PvE build for the Mobius.
If it takes you 10min, then you are the problem, not the content.
