Is a good thing that they made possible to casual players to upgrade their gear slowly and maybe with a bit of $$.
I don't have 10 toons and paying some money 20-30$ i think is fair. Then i can get more dil for the rest .
The game needs money and the devs are not greedy but needs to survive.
The problem is, they kind of are...if you don't and everyone else does, suddenly PvP is suicide.
This...so much...this^
"Join Date: Jun 2012" Says Cryptic's "new" forum system. I've been here since a week before launch, but SOME stuff just didn't carry over through multiple system changes/updates.
First we have to grinde EC for the Tech upgrades then we have to Grind Dil. for the Upgrading Provess and while we do that we have to grind marks for the new REp. System where we also have to upgrade those Items.
Not funny.
I feel the same way, I liked the game for a while, you could explore random systems, look at foundry content. make a fleet. mess around in the nebulae. (plural)
go to cardasia, andoria, vulcan do diplomatic stuff. go accolade hunting or easter egg hunting(used to be plenty) the "nerve tonic" is still a fun one if you have a female alt.
but as hopeful as I have tried to be. it has finally worn me down I feel this game is just one big grindfest. it is no longer a game, it has become work, an unenjoyably and tedious job or chore.
a game should entertain, a reward for a long day. something fun.
but especially after my time in the delta quadrant, and coming to realise just how inadequate my current ship and gear are. I am on the verge of just uninstalling the game and walking away.
I have thought long about this. I am not enjoying myself...... are you? is this realy a good way to unwind...... by more work!

I'm with you on these points...except I DID love RP'ing, but all of the RP'ers seemed to have left.
So...I guess...I don't have much left except playing it because it's Star Trek, and all of my other favorite games end (consoles).
I don't like endings *Sonic Screwdriver chirps*

I like it now once I understand it. So I will enjoy it, and get some weapons I been wanting. After I get my Phaser Pulse rifle done. I got more weapons to upgrade. Now I can get my Boff weapons boosted as well. And don't have to buy all new.
Upgrading is the way to go.

I simply can't bring myself to waste any more time or money on a system that encourages us to waste rescources on improving items we already own (which were, once, the best available anyway)!
Did you not just describe the purpose of the Fleetbase Tiers?
Oops! Technically a zombie thread now.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.
