I really hope our old ships stay on par with these new things. I really don't wanna give up my ambassador to fly that thing. Ever.

    that is one of the ships mentioned to be in the game, but confirmed? is anything with this team? best to wait until they say it is coming. from what i know of that "pos" you colorfully call it, is apart of a storyline reward or something like that. so again wait for the rumors to pass and the coming of an official answer.

    The new ship designs look... 'interesting' to say the least. I'm hoping we'll be seeing a blog post about the ships soon, I'm really curious what the entire T6 "powers" are all about. But yeah, the KDF ship design we saw from the convention did look more enticing then the Fed designs.

    Ugly is subjective. I think the Galaxy is one of the ugliest canon ships ever created. Other people worship it. To each their own. We do not all only like the same things.
    STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

    i have less than zero interest in new ship designs. if there's new t6 versions of canon ships that i fly, i'll buy them. if not, no sale. all the hype and ridiculous stats in the world wouldn't make me fly that thing.

    I don't like the textures. The inverted color on the plating is funky, and it's got honeycomb in other areas. I could also do without the neon tubing, but hey, maybe we can 'disable visuals' or something.

    That's also a rather poor angle in the photo.

    ....and that said, of the designs that came out of STLV I shuddered a bit at this one.

    May only be my opinion, but thats one inelegant piece of ship right there.

    In fact, it's diselegant.

    Not just an absence of elegance, but a bit wrong too.

    In fact, it's diselegant.

    The funny thing is that when the Galaxy debuted the Trek BBS - BBSes were before the internet was a major thing - was full of people saying how the Galaxy lacked elegance - that it was a top-heavy stubby ship that bore none of the grace of the Constitution. Time has a way of changing our perspectives. :)

    Aww poor fed...I feel so bad for you...you got the most ships to choose from and some of the best...my heart aches for you that you got a ugly ship! :rolleyes:

    It's too early to say I will or won't be flying it, but my first reaction when I saw that picture at Las Vegas was, "Oh, God no!"

    I'm here to play Star Trek, not a generic Space Sci-Fi that appears to be Star Trek. I want to fly starships that look like they belong in Star Trek. Federation ships should look like Federation ships (not even the Enterprise-J or the Temporal ships are alien like this), and Klingon ships should feel Klingon. The only Tier 6 ship that looks the part is the Romulan Tier 6.

    Up until the Dyson ships, I thought Cryptic finally was understanding this, but I was wrong.

    yeah the initial rollout should really just be all canon, with their custom "experiments" following later.

    The ship is only ugly to those who like the "stale" designs of Starfleet, like the Galaxy or something similiar. I find the design of that ship to be intriguing and the escort's design is purely awesome.

    I like it, I am all for new sleek modern designs.

    I am playing Star Trek Online; I love to dream of the future and I am glad the Dev team are taking bold steps in the design of their ships.

    No one is saying you cannot fly canon ships and they will be realising details of how to keep them competitive (Cryptic know a substantial amount of their player base fly ships dear to them for canon and RP reasons).

    But as most Canon ships are already in game I do not understand all this hate for new designs, when people say I would only fly say the Defiant anyway, so what does it matter what the new ship looks like?

    Anyways, I say again the new ships for all the classes look awesome and cannot wait to get my hands on them.

    To Cryptic, I salute you on you brave design choices, keep pushing that envelope! :D

    Bet if you show that picture to anyone, they wouldn't immediately say Star Trek. But flash any picture of any of the Enterprises, they would respond Star Trek. Even the Star Trek fans at Las Vegas were in complete silence when they showed these pictures, instead of cheering and applauding.........because they were greatly disappointed.

    The way I see it, T6 isn't gonna be a straight up jump in power. I think its gonna be more special gimmick with some extra hull. We should be able to upgrade our T5 and 5.5 Fleet to almost T6 level so we should be good. Its just we won't get whatever shiny T6 special with our upgraded ships. We'd have to fly a T6 for the T6 special stuff.

    I do agree that the angle we were given of the T6 Fed cruiser is ugly, but it is kinda a bad angle.

    Yes, I don't think the angle helped at all. It was a very unflattering way to unveil the ship.

    Beauty may be in the eye of the beholder, but with that being said there is a universal standard of beauty (whether some admit it or not) and for Star Trek Federation ships, this isn't it...

    I agree with what someone else said, I too play this game because it's Star Trek. I expect my Fed cruisers to be sleek and rounded, curvy, elegant, with an obvious saucer section, and of course plenty of windows; this basically has none of that.

    I still fly my Odyssey, which I believe, is a beautiful design with a beautiful bridge. Hopefully, there will be more than one Fed cruiser and we can all win if the Devs don't get lazy and just make several versions of it where we can mix and match parts like the other cruisers, vesta's, etc.

    Well if this is the best the design team can come up with I would regret it to pay there sallary. Star Trek always had ships with clean lines not this garbadge nor those dyson ships there also ugly thats why I will not buy them, but clean strong ships like the thunderchild those are more like it.

    If this is all they can make they won't have my money on them...

    What ship fits in Star Trek? The Defiant did not look like a traditional Star Trek ship up to that point in time, yet there it was. The Voyager did not look like a traditional Star Trek ship up to that point in time, yet there it was. The Prometheus? You get the idea.

    What "fits in Star Trek" changes based on the whims of CBS and the longevity of time. :)

    The Sovereign class looks far better than the Galaxy I think though its not surprising as it was designed that way. The designer wanted it to look good from all viewing angles unlike the Galaxy which they pretty much stuck to the underneath and forward view for it.

    sovvie looks better then the galaxy fail, i mean you throw the galaxy and it will come right back at ya, the saucer catches wind well.
