Tacofangs, this would be my new car.

doctorfunke1doctorfunke1 Member Posts: 107 Arc User
I would love a bridge with the option to select my own ships' MSD.

I would love to have the ability to select a corridor style.

I would love to be able to select what my warp core looks like.

I would like to select colors of the carpet that runs through my ship.

The new car I'd like to buy would have many options and not limited in any way. Please take what I have said into consideration.

There are plenty ideas for interior options, please make us buy stuff we want, not what you think we want.

When you post something like this, you need to consider:

    • How can they monetize it?
    • What kind of pricing are we talking about?
    • What are the chance people will use it?
    • What are the chances people will recommend it to others once they have it?

The last two bullets is to determine projected sales. To figure this out, you can consider this:

    • What can you do in your interior?
    • Based on what you can do, what are the chances people will change behavior (hence be motivated to buy the new things) so that they will visit?

Once you are done calculating all this, you will know the chances they will allocate time for this.
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Let me put the rumors to rest: it's definitely still the C-Store (Cryptic Store) It just takes ZEN.

    Uh. . . ok. . .

I want a pony. And a big ice cream sundae.

I'm not sure what you're expecting here. I think everyone would like to be able to customize their ship interior. That doesn't mean it's feasible to implement in this game.

Do not expect to have your wishes fulfilled with Delta Rising.

I think that many of us would love more customizable interiors, but technical and logistical considerations make it difficult.

IIRC, Taco himself has weighed in on this issue a bunch of times. The sheer proliferation of bridge types and cross faction ship bridges have created a hugely diverse pool.

Tying on to each of those would be an enormous amount of work and time.

Just about the only solution thats even feasible is the idea that escorts, cruisers and science ships would each get a type-specific interior. Different sized warp cores, that sort of thing.

However, even that is a massive use of time.

Can you at least make the T6 ships testable on tribble before Delta Rising? I mean someone has to test out those new T6 ship powers. ;)

Hit the menu button on your monitor.
    Go to "Color."
    Mess with the settings.

BOOM! Carpet colors to your liking that doesn't take any dev resources. :P

Actually, I am curious as to what this line at the end of this weeks patch notes means:

"It is now possible to tag projects as category Quarters, for your entire player housing and crew quarter’s needs."

If they are going to use the phrase "player housing" surely they mean something beyond a Foundry mission.

To take that point further, when you visit your bridge and other parts of your ship, are you not creating a separate instance that you can invite other players to? If so, it would seem simple to me that bridge parts and other interior ship parts could be arranged in a specifically created Foundry mission that once created, can only be accessed by the player and take place of the instance created normally when you visit the bridge. The players could then create their own interiors.

    Hey, Taco:

I would love to have a "lava lamp" option implemented for my ship ONLY that allows both the interior and exterior of my vessel to appear in an array of constantly-changing neon colors. My crew deck should also appear in black light, with glowing tribal markings and graffiti running the length of the corridor walls.

Again, this is only for my ship. I expect that you will drop everything you're working on for the new expansion to accommodate my whims (which are subject to change).

Actually, given the new foundry tags, I do have a request of Taco.

I appreciate it would be a bit of work, but it ties things together strategically.

Create a foundry anchor point on all bridges.

Doesn't have to be pretty, just has to be there.

That way, we go to our bridge, then (if we've built it or want to borrow someone elses build) we load up our interior.

Could meet the desire for customisable interiors once and for all.

I have no idea how complicated this would be, but is it possible to set up a system where similar items act as the same object with respect to Foundry entry points (such as the turbolift on nearly all bridges)? The option to label the mission start points as "take turbolift to Quarters" or "take turbolift to Holodeck" would be neat.

    Dunno.

Might be easier to simply mash an anchor point in front of the Captains chair.

As said, given this would be a fair bit of work, I wouldn't mind if it wasnt pretty.

But it would allow customisable interiors to be accessible from all bridges, via the foundry.

As far as I'm concerned, this solves the issue of interiors pretty much entirely.

It means exactly what it says. The Foundry UGC guys wanted a "housing" tag for their RP stuff, and it was added.

There's actually one suggestion there that would help in that vein:
I would love a bridge with the option to select my own ships' MSD.

I'm sure there's a number of people (including myself) that wouldn't pick a bridge where the MSD is showing the wrong ship. If they managed to implement this, it should increase the desirability of the bridges.

I'm all for that suggestion of a common foundry Anchor point, As an author I would use it, and as a Player I would enjoy visiting the bridge more often.

Could it function similarly to the Library Console in the Ready Room? That is a feature on most if not all bridges I have visited. So its an example of a Common interact across factions and Bridge suites.

its like reading a 5 year olds santa wish list and being a father and a grandad 3 times over i know some things about santa wish lists.

give taco and the dev team a break people they are knocking out a brand new expansion just sit back and wait for and enjoy the whole new quadrant and levels and ship tiers we will be getting soon.

personally id like to tip my hat to taco and the entire cryptic dev team for the new expansion im looking forward to this brave new world we will soon venture into :)

I know that there is much to this thread, but the only part that sticks with me is:

Is the pony to be ridden while eating the sundae? Or do you want to the eat the pony while riding the sundae? Or do you want to eat the pony AND the sundae?

Well, considering it was teased as something that was being seriously worked on at a few points in the game's history, I don't think it's necessary to taunt those of us who've been hoping to see it happen for the last four-plus years.

That said, I can understand if you're getting a bit weary of people asking for the world on a string and they want it right now.
