I'm fairly certain that you can just dismiss and reclaim C-Store ships without any loss whatsoever. They should be fine to buy. Lockbox and Lobi ships, on the other hand, I would definitely hold off on.
They weren't worth buying before Delta Rising, except for the Scimitar. I have been kicking myself for years for buying the Kumari Pack and the Caitan Carrier. At least the Defiant had a cloak so not a total waste. Allows my many alts to sit in Kerrat and farm dilithium without getting ganked.

Lol thats the ship im looking at. You must be psychic lol
I may stay my zen for now. You know when the s10 update will occur?
I wouldn't purchase anything (ships, weapons, shields, kits) until after Expansion #2 hits. You could potentially be wasting a lot of resources. I know that we're suppose to be able to upgrade Tier #5 / Mk XII items, but there's bound to be a cost applied to that, so I'd hold off on everything until after E2 is released.
The way I look at it is, do you have a disposable income or does you income decided what you buy? Im gonna hold o to my zen until info has been released on ships an gear, don't spend if you don't want to.
If it's a ship you just want, love the looks of and you are happy with Cryptic's promise that they'll be usable at level 60 then by all means go for it.
But unless it's a ship you really, badly want, I'd also recommend you save your Zen until Delta Rising is here - or at least until more details regarding T5 ships are available.
It probably won't be that long after launch until T6 Zen ships are a thing either.
When is the last time anyone has seen an Atrox or Kumari. That should give you an idea of how bad they are.
I saw one the other day.... When I climbed into mine and ran ISE, KSE and CSE in it. The Kumari is a VERY effective ship in the right hands (it's as simple as running 2 purple damage control doffs, et voila, it stops been a paper ship). Oh and I'd think that the rest of the PUG I was in saw it too.... :P
As to the Atrox, I see them a lot out in sector space. So there are folks out there still enjoying them.
Not everybody wants to pilot the same type of ship constantly, some like the challenge of using different ships.
The Kumari was once a VERY popular ship, until the "new hotness" ships came along is all. I still fondly remember the rants about how OP it was....
dose it have to buy any t5 ship now ? well except shuttles ? or d will have some new ****tles in new expansion too ?
and why t6 ships were introduced at all ? why not to keep goold old t5 ?

Because of after a long period of stagnation, the game is moving forward.
From experience with Cryptic games, the ship upgrade system will allow you to either;
A- Plug holes in your ships stats i.e; More hull and damage resist to your glass cannon.
B- Boost your existing DPS, and by adding new procs to your weapons.
They will be expensive upgrades, likely to tie in with the new crafting system. these upgrades will take no small amount of time to complete in order to give the illusion of more content.
Time is a funny thing; There is always too much of it. Except when you need it the most, then there is never enough.
OP, you will want one of the new T6 ships when they come out, and will probably regret buying a T5. No matter what the fanbois say, the ships wouldnt be called T6 if they werent going to be better. Save your zen.
I took a break from the game for a few months and when I came back I had a fairly decent stack of Zen with which to play Lockbox Lotto. In the middle of my first ten Ferengi boxes, while looking for that elusive D'Kora which I know I will never win, the X2 announcement came out on the forum. That stopped me cold.
Well, the general wisdom is to wait, than i shall try. iv wanted the full scimitar set for a while, but the risk of disappointment is too high, as one poster said, the t4 ships you get at lvl 40 are ment to be competitive, but the t5 wipe the floor with them.
im hopieng that since the lvl cap, you will get a free t5 ship @50, or we will have a load of t4 free2players running around in t4's, wondering why they blow up every 2 secs

The whole purpose of T6 is to get those people to buy the new stuff all over again. Cryptic embraces the powercreep like no other.
And whats the harm if it turns out not to be that way? You can still buy the scim pack after more information comes out, fully informed eyes wide open.

The level 40 ships are T5 and not T4. Doesnt stop the store ships wiping the floor with them but that is down to store ships meant to be better than free ships to encourage people to buy them. Ask many PvP folks and they would say a person who knows what they are doing in a free ship with free sets can wipe the floor with somebody in an expensive store ship.
I would wait for the dev blog that mentions how upgraded Tier 5 ships compare to Tier 6 ships and if C-Store ships get a free upgrade to upgraded status. Also, for the dev blog that states which Tier 6 ships would be available in the C-Store and their stats before purchasing a ship.
I pulled the trigger just this Friday. Bought the tac Scimi and spent a 10-key pack worth of EC outfitting it.
I felt comfortable doing so for many reasons.....;
1. I'm not as concerned as some that the T5.x will be obsolete. I don't mean to dismiss others concerns, I just do not share them. Why? Like the blog said there will only be about 7-10 T6 ships split between the factions and that's not nearly enough new stock to adequately replace the existing stock entirely. And I, maybe foolishly, take Cryptic at their word that our investments will not be wasted.... possibly diminished, but not wasted.
2 I looked at it like this. I can go spend $60 on a new console game and finish it in a week, replay it the next week, and then I'm done. Orrrrr I could spent that money buying and outfitting a ship I've a) always wanted and b) will have fun flying for at least two months...and more than likely even longer.
3 I wanted to.
I will say that if you are going to buy a c-store ship, buy one of the best available just to be safe..i.e Scimitar, Avenger, Fleet Patrol Escort etc.
Just my 0.02EC. I know many will not agree but that's how I look(ed) at it.

Hold on to your resources and then after t6 is out, you still like that ship and think it's a okay option you can always buy at that point.

As to the Atrox, yeah, not found a use or situation for it yet.
IF the T5 ships will be worth it, then you can still buy one, and if not, you can scrape even more together and might just be able to get a T6.
Me personally: I think you will end up disappointed if you get a T5 ship.
I would recommend keeping your Zen and see how things unfold before making any further purchases.

Tier five vessels will continue to be a valid choice, regardless.
However, if you are one of these that has to have the "latest and greatest", then save your money.

And the complacent are freaking out as a result.

I'm holding mine until mid-October.

Still waiting to be able to use forum titles
Hopefully, that wont be too far away.
