I am sorry, but if you have to create a channel/group, just for elitist snobs, than you need get something better to do in life.
Not very open-minded, aint you? The DPS-Channels are a place were new players (DPS Public) and advanced players (DPS 10k and higher) can learn to get better by understanding the mechanics of this game. To secure the quality of the process, of course there are some limitations, so we dont get a second ESD-Zonechat.
Unfortunately we seem to get hate without doing anything to deserve it, we only strive to make a better playerbase. Unwarranted hate like the one you showed is one of the biggest problems humankind has to face, as its the source of xenophobia, homophobia, anti-Semitism and such things.

Well, you don't need something as lame, as a private channel, just to go about aiding the general public, in creating a higher dps build.
It can be done by other means, one of which is this forum.
yes it does, it tells I don't need be a part of some meaningless elitists group, who thinks they know it all.
Instead they could provide the service, with this very useful thing called a forum.
No, because exactly the forums are a second ESD-Zonechat. Bad players promoting horrible builds, telling others about how nothing can go over 10k except you have rigged parsers, ppl who scream "elitists" when you mention certain builds and ways to play.
And you see wonderful, powerful, stable builds being ridicouled as not tanky enough, or "not meant to play that style" (which is likely to occur when mentioning a dps-vesta).
No, you cant teach well in such an environment. You have to seperate the learnresistent, trolling and otherwise disabled ppl from those, who strive to make themselves better, who want to learn, and who will bring that knowledge back to their friends and fleemates. So even by using our effort on only those who know us AND want to learn, we can reach a much greater playerbase.
I mean, you dont sent everyone to university, especially not school quitters. Because that would be really a wasted effort.

Even with the so called channel being used, how many actual player's would even be aware of it's existence?
So, in reality it helps only a small amount, if even.
And, by restricting access to the channel in the first place, just further complicates things.
And, by restricting access to the channel in the first place, just further complicates things.
Now you are contradicting yourself.
We promote the channels on the forums, some even use their signatures for that. We also promote ourselves via fleets and alliances, when some ppl of them are in our channels.
So, if someone is interested, we should be pretty much known by all forumpopulation and more. If you now want to argue, just because of that we aint known by many, then the same would be true for posts&guides we would make in the forums.
And secondly, we have a public channel, where everyone can join, only the advanced ones (were the ones willing to learn should be able to enter after 2-3 weeks top) are restricted.
So to sum it up, we have an open entrance and are at least as present as we would if we would only use forums, some of us even use the forums to promote builds and such, so pls, where were we an elitists snob troop who shut themselves up in their channels?

Open channel or not, there are tons of player's who cannot even figure out where to buy hypos from, and you expect them to know how to use chat channels?
I don't even see these channels being advertised, except on this forum myself, and that is not saying it isn't advertised elsewhere, but as much as I play I have yet to see any advertisement of it.

I think ill go back to my university-statement. You cant really set your bars so low, you must be trolling with that post...
And for questions, at least the /tell command should be known, as are the Operators handles for questions^^

google
if a player wants to know something and get better, he can use google and he will find any and all information he needs to get above 10k dps in ise. also he WILL find out about dps, the combatlogready and the dps-channels.
so no advertisement needed, it is in fact working as intended. ppl that do not use google will almost certainly buy their hypos, batteries and remodulators in exchange, never get above 2k in ise and dont need any info about any channel nor would they want it... ^^
There is not trolling involved, what I stated was actual fact.
Don't feed the trolls. Heck, at least they publicize the channels. There are other invitation only channels out there. Anyway, they like DPS, let them keep on that boring spacebar rat race. Most of their builds pop like pimples in PvP.
Only thing I find insulting there is kicking out players that go below the DPS. It's not like they forget, maybe they try different builds.

Agreed, elitism at its finest.
They remind me of organized private so called social organizations, with the expressed purpose to revel in their fascism.

Oh yeah, call us fascists. Up to now you have been entertaining to a certain degree, but now you start to insult hundreds of players.
And actually you don't have a grasp at what fascism is. Kicking people for breaking channel rules certainly isn't. My family lost several members to the fascist regime of the 3rd Reich, and I find those comparisons disgusting.
@lucho
If someone brings his shiny PvE build to a PvP match he certainly deserves getting roflstomped. But on the other hand, there are so many PvP pros which neither have skill nor any grasp about game mechanics. Relying on feedback pulse or beam overload is just pathetic.

I'm not going anywhere near an argument about the validity of closed chat channels gated with DPS tracking, but I'd like to know how relying on FBP or BO is different from relying on any other boff power?

FBP is a classic oh **** button. Per se there's nothing to say against it, i.e. RSP, rom. cloak, fluidic phase decoupler, subspace jump, metaphasic shields fall into the same category. But some people believe they are good PvPers when they spam their alpha buffed FBP whenever someone shoots at them. Sci powers boosted by tac skills, working as intended, huh? Beam overload... a lot of escort players with bad piloting skills scored their kills just with lucky crits. Just zig zag around, wait for your alpha, activate BO and fire on someone, may the RNG be with you. Those times are gone, thanks to the nerf.
That wasn't the entire run, that was to simply depict how much dps a moderate build, can inflict upon a single enemy.
IOW, I used a boss ship for the presentation, because people scream how BFAW builds net uber dps, due to multiple enemies always around, well here is a non-BFAW vessel attacking 1 target.

assuming non-bfaw to be bad is the same as saying bfaw is imba...
if you have fun with a build then by all means, play it, its a game and should be fun
but being able to inflict serious damage on a single enemy and inflicting that serious damage while the whole fight is going on and u get aggro and u can tank it away are 2 very different things... the carrier at the end simply stands there and wants to be killed, not like its an enemy worth using any healing abilities or something like that, jsut everyone shoot and gg

True, but I have tanked an elite cube solo, using a tac oddy w/BFAW + aux2batt.

Yes from the official thread of the CLR.
Thank You! I did a few google searches and could not find an official thread or home page for it

Well, my guides on STO-Center have more than 170.000 hits, the main discussion thread more than 2.100 posts.
But how could you know that.

Yes, how could one know that, when very few people would have that made available to them?
Because after more than 2yrs of playing, I sure don't know you, or know of this information (not that I care).

Yeah my canon torpedo build, couldn't even reach the 10k point, instead it exceeded it.
