Requesting whomever is in charge, to please roll back to the old Doff UI!!
I am unable to sort my doffs according to quality, specialization and traits, and that is something I frequently used for appointing doffs for particular assignments!!
    Resistance is Futile.

    You Will be Assimilated.

Assimilation is the Key to Happiness.

Working as intended, download ARC, open your computer to bloatware, give Cryptic your credit-card number, and in two to six weeks, you'll be able to log on
    .

Is that necessarily to give credit-card? Because i don't have it.

apparently not all traces of old crafting are gone. i can still do missions that give me the now-worthless prototype plans.

any chance those are adjusted to give something more worthwhile like blue materials/purple on crit or components/multiple components on crit, and a way to convert the existing plans into those?
Now clowns, that's another story. They scare the crap out of me.
We fight them too. Entire armies spilling out of Volkswagens.
We do our best to fight them off, but they keep sending them in.

in case the doff icons didn't give it away, it was on my fed character. those (and the 50k ec diplomatic ones) still appear on all factions.

Normally, I try not to whine & complain about much in the game. The only prior change that ever really peeved me was the rep traits redo. But I gotta put my 2 cents' worth in on this new UI for crafting & DOFFs.

It blows. Whoever thought this would be a step up from the previous UI needs smacked upside the head. More than once, for good measure. The visuals are ok, I can live with color scheme & graphics, but they're huge & disorienting to me. Size wise, the DOFF project slots as a whole need dialed down some (ok, a lot) It's not as awful as the unsortable DOFF selection list for the projects (come on, man!!)
In a nutshell, the new UI is a clumsier, less functional version of it's predecessor.

Hes bull****ting you, that has absolutely nothing to do with your issue. 2 things, have you tried running STO as administrator? And also have you tried starting the game in safe mode?

    Also ARC is completely uneseccesary

Boah, is the new Doff UI bad. Too complicated to see the success chances after the assignment is started. Also the success chances as bar diagrams is far worse than the pie charts. And that it is impossible to sort the started assignments chronological to the least completion time is just a bad design choice.

    What an useless update...

Exactly. Too bad Cryptic won't listen to us on this.

You know it's telling when one by one your fleet logs in and they ALL say the DOff UI blows.

As many other surely have said, the new DOFFing UI is terrible.
Just as the new R&D system, not to speak of the unneeded removal of the exploration clusters...
The only good new thing is the standardized uniforms and even they could have been made better (less dark, more prominent division colors TNG or AGT like).

The Lockbox ships aren't very interesting, the "dreadnought - carrier" is way too small and feels more like a destroyer. (way to nimble and Escort-like, it is supposed to be a leviathan!)
That ship is supposed to be 1800 meters long (that's more than twice the size of a sovereign)
I wonder what the devs have been thinking...

No, i am not "excited" about Season 9.5, the game was better before.
(and i haven't heard of anyone liking the changes IMO)

Well, I like the changes, with the sole exception of that evil DOFF UI.

So...there's your person who likes the changes.

Alright, after an initial good impression, I really tried to plan out a doff assignment and be smart about it. The UI is.. I won't call it terrible, but I can understand why others would use that label. It's farmville friendly, for sure. It's not doffing friendly for anyone who thinks about what they are doing.

Which particular changes could you single out as ones you like?
For my part, there is only one thing that I like from the patch is the buff to enhanced induction coils.

I LOVE the new uniforms. I unequivocally adore everything about those.

I like the new R&D system. It's a decent way to pass the time.

I like the Xindi lockbox a lot. Lots of cool stuff in that.

I love the addition of Dil rewards to Nukara, New Romulus, and Defera.

I HATE the new DOFF UI with an undying passion.

Overall, I like the new season. The DOFF UI is an abomination, but otherwise it's good.

First impression of crafting: The game is telling me I need special items. It is not telling me how to obtain those items. Would an info box be too much to ask for, like, "You can obtain X through..."

    Yes, that would be nice.

As I understand it by skimming over the information that's spread across 3 or 4 of the crafting articles:

You gather materials as drops/anomalies in the game, use DOffs to craft components with the right combination of materials and then when you have the right components you can build a particular item.

The catalysts is probably going to be the Fairy Dust from Neverwinter. :)

New season, new story in the arc, right? :(

As it is, 9.5 has not brought anything that makes me to really want to play any more. Even the seasonal events... meh.

Maybe Cryptic should also outsource the Season story arc content to the Foundry too... seriously. Have Christine outline the objectives of the next story in the arc and have the players create the missions, this was an idea the was brought up in the last Priority One. I'd like the Foundry authors get a decent kickback too.

    Need MORE content, Cryptic.

Yeah, it's a game but with the lack of Star Trek on the and the movies (JJ does not count :) ) nothing better than producing more CONTENT in the game would keep those "cheeks in their seats!" If there's a story every week or 2 weeks, I would be coming back for longer periods of time!

Get the stories that Christine makes for Star Trek Magazine, that's a part of the STO's story arc anyways, and produce them for the game! Hello! That would have been the 9.5 story mission.

    Need MORE content, Cryptic.

Just a few criticisms for this latest patch:

    1. Still disappointed that crafting was released unfinished, and did not include the systems like choosable mods for crafted items, reverse engineering of existing loot drops. I understand this is a first "iteration", so hopefully the features promised to us in Capt. Gecko interview will happen in a timely fashion, and not get put on the back-burner now that 9.5 is released.

2 I think the advanced R+D reward packs associated with the elite space STF's need to be looked at again. I mean 6 out of the 9 available elite runs awarding Trellium-K is a bit ridiculous. I know your intent was to get people to run ground STF's, but I dont feel that we should be "forced" to run them if we wish to gather our own materials for crafting.

I like the idea of it, but man it's confusing and man oh man it looks grindy. Grindy and without content pretty much sums this season up for me.

Oh, yeah I like it too. I just never lumped it in with s9.

Okay, this I'll have to check out. I had no idea. Did they fix the bugs in defera this time?

With you there. It is about as much of a step backwards for the game as the new Queen Elizabeth class carriers are for the Royal Navy (i.e. quite a bit one).

Here's hoping for season 9.75: We're Sorry For Molesting The DOff UI. DOff UI revert, Memory Alpha returned, and crafting pushed into UI's solely dedicated to crafting areas like the Forge and Memory Alpha.

I assume that those were different STFs that were awarding the same material.

I thought I remember Capt. Gecko saying something about having each material being more likely to be dropped at certain mission/locations, players would be able to spreadsheet those locations and generally know where certain materials have a higher chance of dropping.

I ran each of the Elite space STF's last night and recorded the R+D reward pack results. Trellium-K drops in The Cure, ICE, Hive, Khitomer, Breach, and Storming the Spire. 2/3rd of all the elite space missions is a wee bit overboard.

Don't mind the crafting system. Really bummed out by the new doff UI. It is time consuming and a bit sloppy. Many things are unclear. You constantly have to make sure it isn't sending out officers you would reserve for other assignments. When switching the officers out you have to keep track of who is already assigned in the assignment as you can really end up assigning an already assigned officer to a different slot and then having to go back up and reassign that officer and then go back down and assign someone to the slot you were originally assigning, etc... This kind of stuff makes it a bit obnoxious. Not all of the information is presented on the screens they should be listed on. Don't really like to post negative comments if this is perceived as negative, I enjoy the game and appreciate the time and work involved in creating such things. Really like the old doff system for duty assignments, much smoother, much more satisfying and fun. Wouldn't mind at all if they kept crafting how it is and reverted back to the old UI for the regular assignments. Still enjoy the game but it is a chore to deal with doff assignments.

Well, since this so called update, is pretty useless, I guess I will stick, with a game, that does boldly go where no man has gone before...

Oh and it costs less then the lifer, for this game!!!

So not only can you explore our galaxy, and its multi player, you can fly through the rings of Saturn, oh and do a little mining while you are there... :D

Further to the idea that defera awards dilithium now. It does indeed award dil, but in such small quantities it's not worth bothering with. Only 320 ore per mission. Not worth the hassle when CSE can be done in 4 mins and awards somwhere around 2000 dil per run if you convert the omega marks.

"Star Trek's" longevity originally spawned from a thirty year hiatus. Many people do not realize the role in which the thirty year hiatus played in "Star Trek's" success.

Star Trek, TOS ended in June of 69.
Star Trek, TNG began in September of '87. This is 18 years. Not 30.

    And it ignores:
Star Trek: TAS (73-74) (Some say rightfully so).
    Star Trek: TMP (79)
    Star Trek: TWOK (82)
    Star Trek: TSFS (84)

If you include TAS, then Star Trek was only off the air for 4 years. If you go to TMP, it's 10 years. 4, 10, or 18, NOT 30.
In order for Cryptic to break free from repetition, they will need to put the grinding mechanic and timegates away. Cryptic has to go back to the drawing board, so they can inject something substantial into the gaming experience.

Time-Gates are what MMORPGs are all about. You want end-game gear? You have to grind items, many of which are 'you may get this today, if you don't, you will wait for tomorrow'. Even when they are not (****), you still have a timer before you can get back in, and the time it takes to complete the mission is still a time gate.
Other words, "Star Trek: Online" lacks a variety in game mechanics.

    Its not he player's fault.

Cryptic may have run out of ideas.

Cryptic HAS failed in one key area: The crafting system is not made easy to use. I don't mean 'bam, you get what you want'. I mean 'Oh, you have to craft 50 of these little things!' Let me craft all 50 of them to get my skill up by queueing them up. As I put it in game yesterday, it's almost like Star Fleet hasn't heard the concept of a 'Standard Change' (ITIL). I'd like to just say, "Sure, let me know when you begin, but don't bother me with each one you make, just get her done." >.>
