The first and fastest enemy super ship in the Naval Ops game. It was the hardest, and most epic fight I've ever had against an NPC with amazing music attached. I consider it more challenging and epic then a person ever could be, next to Sky Captain of "Future Cop LAPD".
My future vessel will be the Philadelphia because my family is from there. My character was originally the XO of an Oberth class vessel named the Darwin because he, Charles Darwin, was an explorer and a scientist. However I currently have him stationed and costumed as an Academy instructor because my time is tight and what time I had for the game was spent designing my mission.
I actually created another character to represent the Darwin now that my main character was reassigned and I use the Darwin to try out new foundry missions.

My first 50, Tac Escort Captain is flying the U.S.S. Basilisk-F, A Steamrunner-class Blockade Escort right now, having kept that name from the very beginning, adding hyphenated letters for each tier.
My Gorn eng captain is flying a Fleet K'Tinga Retrofit, the I.K.S. Slar, named for a Gorn Engineer of some repute. Most of his prior ships were named for famous Klingons, such as the I.K.S. Klaang, and the I.K.S. Korrd.
My Fed-Aligned Romulan Sci Captain, and current pet project, is flying a Fleet D'Deridex, the R.R.W. Emperor. Named for the emperor penguin. His prior ships have all been named for species of birds, such as the R.R.W. Gander, R.R.W. Cassowary, and R.R.W. Harrier.
I have a few other Federation captains, and in general I stick to a theming convention - Cruisers are named for cities such as the U.S.S. Batman, U.S.S. Goose Bay, or U.S.S. Canberra, Escorts are named for fictional monsters, such at the above U.S.S. Basilisk, or the U.S.S. Manticore, and Science vessels are named for scientists, such as the U.S.S. Currie (Philip Currie, palaeontologist), or the U.S.S. Plait (Phil Plait, Astronomer)
Main - Kimio- U.S.S. Bonnie Kin- Oddy star cruiser- Because we all know why!
Klingon - Vatorre - I.K.S. Shadow- MU neggie- Because i couldn't think of a better name
Rom-Fed - Zivico - lvl 30 - R.R.W. Talon of Romulus the equivalant of the lvl 30 arika because it sounds cool!
The boss being a gigantic Winter Epohh Researcher. As you lay waste to the Epohh Horde, she can occasionally cry out things like, "Didn't you want an Epohh friend?"
Jefferson....you have to be at least 30 to get it.:D

My 1st/main toon is Overfourtee (UFP Science) and the theme was slogans from the American Revolution, but recently changed to "Starbreaker", named after a Judas Priest song.
My 2nd toon is Kerry (UFP Tactical) whose theme was flags but now it is just "Gadsden", after the Gadsden Flag of the Revolution Era.
I recently started a 3rd toon, Eekoedireng (UFP Engineering) whose ships are/will be named "O'Brien", after the Chief O'Brien character.
Been a huge BattleTech fan ever since the game first came out in the Eighties. Had most of the books, most of the miniatures and all of the computer games. As a result, all my ship names reference either a character or 'Mech from BattleTech.
Didn't have a choice, really. By the time I got around to playing STO, all the really good and really clever ship names had been used up. So when that MU Star Cruiser shows up in your PUG ISE wearing the name Dire Wolf and it is commanded by VA Natasha Kerensky, it is everyone else's fault I had to reach that far back to avoid drowning in a sea of Enterprise or Defiant variations.
A six year old boy and his starship. Living the dream.
Currently my Starfleet main commands:
1. The USS Valhalla, a Sovereign Class cruiser
2. The USS Valkyria, a Cerberus Class escort
and two light craft, the USS Surtr, a Danube class and the USS Fenrir, a Type-8.
Gone through several names. The "why" of names depends. I named my very first ship the "Optimus". I thought it sounded sounded fitting for a Federation ship. It is in tribute to an obvious fictional character of mine, better put to the Peter Cullen for giving the character what he's made of.
I forget what some of the others were for now. Currently the captain of the Optimus now commands the Crusher. I wanted a familier name but something a name less to associated with combat. It's also in tribute to the acress as she is my favoirite female lead role in all of Star Trek.
The same captain has a caitian shuttle (after all he's catian) named the Kitsune. I like the sounds of it. It is the name of an ancient folklore spirit among Japanese culture, a magical fox with nine tails and can shapeshift.
Ship naming I wish the developers would keep a closer eye on things. Those idiot names should be banned from the game all together. I despise the players give their ships stupid named.
Most of my Ships on my FED are named after famous space ships from tv and films, like Sulaco, Elyisum, or Benthic-Explorer. The registry numbers are the dates the films or series came out.
My current ship is a basic Dyson Hybrid named "Alexei Leonov," - registry N.C.C.-91984-O.
You guessed it - it's from the film 2010: The Year We Make Contact.
Most of my fed ships are named after types of swords, the corvette I just got from Risa I have named after one of the corvettes that took part in the D-Day landings of WW2 as it was recently the 70th anniversary.
Named for a planet in Warhammer 40K, in the lore it has endured 10 millennia of Chaos attacks and raids and it still endures

I'm flying a Voth Palisade Science Vessal whom I've named the Vo'Toyias. The name originally comes from a unique item in Diablo 3 RoS, but I found it very matching with my ship.
The ship in my sig banner is my current favorite and the name translaiterates from Rihannsu as Storm Wing. My other ships are all named after BattleTech characters or Mecha.
A six year old boy and his starship. Living the dream.
Here are a few more of mine:
USS Eureka: after Archimedes' famous coined phrase quote.
USS Tiberius: after my cat (who I bet you can guess the namesake of).
USS Expedition: after setting out to explore strange new worlds.

My captains name is Donkyhotay, my ship U.S.S. Rose 'N Ant. If you get the joke of my captains name you'll understand the name of the ship. If you don't... well it really wouldn't be worth explaining.
Do not be afraid to joust a giant just because some people insist on believing in windmills.
