30 days to count as a dead thread so un till 6/5/2014 that would have been 30 days
Like i said, it was on it's way to a quiet death and it got brought back. Necro in my book.

I'm also getting sick and tired hearing the rep nerfs helped mitigate power creep. People's dps is stronger than before.
They never said it's a straight nerf.
The devs said, individual powers are meant to be slightly more powerful than before. What the nerf was aiming at was the potential future powers on top of all that we had until now.
Thsi way they can add more and more reps without players becoming literally invincible and keeping endgame content accessible for newer players.
ppl are exagerating when they call this pve, its piece of cake no matter if u have an op build or not. If there was content which after the nerf you would have problems with, ok, but there simply isnt any difficult content, so why shout out against nerfs and not for buffs of the pve content.....?
it seems to me this game is catered to ppl who just play it for 3 months and want all the content to be accessible to them then quit after they saw it all, theres simply no progression curve.

That would appear to have been the game plan recently.
A focus on attracting new players, rather than retaining them.
I just have my fingers crossed that this is a planned temporary phase and Cryptic will soon turn their unblinking eye back on keeping players.
Big havana's were lit and white cats being stroked on TS the other day.
The reason for this meeting was to discuss the upcoming content, that a Dev who doesn't frequent the forums and only pews incognito shared with a few selected pvp'ers. It looks amazing. Just brace for impact if you thought S9 was a pvp nerf fest, you haven't seen nothing yet....*muhahahah*. i m too tired to somehow write the iluminati in there, someone have a go at it

Indeed. STO is a causal free to play MMO and nothing more. Ultimately 99% of requests, ideas and vents are from players who want a deeper and more engaging experience.
idk, the structure is there I cant imagine a mmo which is not trying to hold people for more than 3 months, its an mmo for gods sake^^ A hardcore mode for stfs would be a good start.
I dont see how with the current state of the game people are interested in spending money after some months of playing when you realize you saw the whole game and having the best gear is pointless because you dont need it. Except pvp but thats another topic
"PvP" in this game is like two people sitting next to eachother, holding hands, and crying.
Real pvp is about stealing things from the person you beat.
That's why the "pvp" players in this game are the underclass.
really? aside from EVE what game do you get to steal from others?
and if that's your style maybe you should go to eve and have a month of work be stolen from you, because unless you ar one of the elite over there it WILL happen
Theres just much they can do to make pvp worthwhile, I just read about:
"Fleet vs Fleet (KDF vs FED) territory control game ("controlling and or harvesting a vast variety of resources")"
Something like that could give sto some rl traction
The problem with this idea is that games like this are heavily reliant on the amount of playtime being approximately equal. With the Fed/KDF divide in STO, the number of RRK is possibly greater than the number of true KDf chars.
Do you realize KDF and Starfleet aren't at war anymore and what you suggested isn't remotely possible?
STO doesn't exist at a single point in time. Heck, the LoR stuff was a prequel of events played out to catch up to the rest of the events that had already taken place but were yet to take place...er...time isn't really time in STO. The war's over - but you can still head to Ker'rat, which is at a different point in time and the war is not over. There's nothing stopping Cryptic from introducing such things that exist in the past when almost everything we do is in the past. All the folks rerunning ISE over and over...well, outside of the obvious going back in time in running it again - they're also going back to a different point in time as they run it.
Course, all the temporal nonsense in STO can definitely give one a headache.
As much as I theoretically like the idea of territory control, I believe implementing a version that actually works with the existing population distribution in the game and becomes popular enough would be very hard and likely not worth the effort for Cryptic.
While it'S a lot less cool, a leaderboard system might be much better. And the tech could probably also be used for PvE, with people trying to improve STF run times or points scored on a queued map (by whatever scoring system the map is gonna use), and compare their results.
Of course, once you add leader-boards, getting balance right will be much more important - if you notice that 5 Scimitar A2B teams (or whatever is FOTM) get the biggest scores, there will be a lot of PvE players complaining about the imbalances.
So maybe that's also a reason why such a thing doesn't exist yet - Cryptic knows it would cause tons of work. (And there would still be plenty of players that don't care about their score on the leaderboards, and will still complain about nerfs for the sake of balance. But at least not only those dirty PvPers would be blamed.)
Star Trek Online Advancement: You start with lowbie gear, you end with Lobi gear.
Theres a thing called flow, its used in childrens education as well. Things are most entertaining and fun when you are just able to them with some difficulties, everything which is too easy or difficult becomes boring or frustrating.
As it is now pve in sto is repetitive and boring and pvp can be frustrating. It also doesnt help to compare it with games that werent able to produce flow for players
So... why is it so bad to complete an ISE "in minutes"?
I've always found it a blessing to pug into a group that knows what they're doing and we clear it "in minutes" so I can get on with my day.
Bingo! The TRIBBLE like STF's, CE, etc. SHOULD be doable in minutes. People don't play that stuff for fun after the first few times thru... most don't, at any rate. It's grinding. We do it because it's the only way to obtain in game currency to allow you to obtain the things you want. Why the hell would ANYONE want a braindead grind to take longer or be harder when most simply what to get in, get it on and GTF out? The first few times thru it's a challenge as is... after a few times thru you start to get the hang of it and then it's a thrill because you've mastered it. After a few weeks or months, though, for most it's, "Lemmee get in, get thru it as fast as I can, collect my loot and get the hell out!"... " I need -X-... aww, TRIBBLE... not enough -X-... okay, lemme go grind some... damn!" :P. Why does that fact of life bother some people?
*STO*Its mission: To destroy strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations... and then kill them, to boldly annihilate what no one has annihilated before!
sry mate, but lol on that source. all their plans are subject to change anytime and everything they ever said on pvp evolution is just lights and smoke. when the smoke has vanished there stays nothin but the illusion ...

high level players flying around and going after the weak players and bragging when they killed you.
So when I found out that STO went F2P I had to check it out and been here ever since. You
have a choice here PVE or PVP. Battlestar galactica you did not and was fighting or trying to hide
so you could level your toon. But the higher level players would not let you do the PVE content
in game what little there was. Fighting over sectors of space does sound like fun but that is all
you will be doing and that gets boring fast. So I'm glad there is none on STO.
