Should Admiral Quinn be fired?

ltminnsltminns Member Posts: 12,571 Arc User
How can this guy be in command of Starfleet when he can't even control his own headquarters. He has let a number of knuckleheads run rampant all around his new and shiny ESD shooting balloons, fog and disco lights at all hours of the day. His officers are dancing when they are on duty. How are we supposed to fight the Iconians with this lot of slackers.

Come on Admiral, get out from behind your desk and take back the ESD. ;)

You forgot allowing an Undine to be posted right under his nose for 4 whole years before anyone knew.

The Undine would be somewhat useless as an infiltration species if they were easy to detect. :)
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

    So lets See...

Kurland let DS9 be taken over what.. 2? 3 times?
He ordered retreat from DS9 DISPITE the fact that I cleared out all enemies.

Admiral T'nae sent a Species 8472 in disguise as a Federation Admiral int a first strike mission against the Tal'shiar.

I think balloons and dancers are the least of our problems.
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Let me put the rumors to rest: it's definitely still the C-Store (Cryptic Store) It just takes ZEN.

Kurland should be the new guy in charge...and...he should be the one that communicates every mission and piece of information to Feds - so they hear "Kurland here!" all the time.

More folks might play KDF, eh? :D

Think Quinn's looking to be President of the UFP...after all, he spoke for the UFP as if he were President...well...as if he were Emperor.

JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

He should have just died at the beginning of this current season. Why is Game of Thrones so great bc anyone can die at any moment, STO should follow this model as well. It seems more real that way.

He should get it. Under Quinn we had Undine all over the place, a Borg attack that easily killed 90% of the senior officers in the fleet so that they need to put anyone from Lieutenant to Vice Admiral in command of whatever ship they happen to be on, 8 seasons of getting deeper and deeper into the Klingon war despite several storylines that should have brought the two factions closer together, and of course, a new enemy at every turn. Since Tuvok stepped up, things have actually progressed.

I'm surprised that Tuvok hasn't already been made Admiral yet. Quinn is an inexperienced fool when it comes to dealing with Delta quadrant species. He doesn't take the proper precautions and it seems as though Starfleet is flying by the seat of it's pants under him tbh.

Meh, in dramatic terms that just means that any major character can be sacrificed at the alter of drama. That can, in other circumstances, feel just as phony as the bridge crew pulling through every time once you work out the pattern behind it (ie. when drama gets hungry). Death in literature is best handled either as a focal point or as a chaotic force, either you draw attention to it in order to explore the responses to and implications of death or you throw it in as a fact of the universe to remind the reader that the universe is still a part of the story.

And in either case offing Admiral Quinn because he is A. not a very well established character despite his position and B. incompetent doesn't satisfy either condition of death as drama or death as part of the scenery. It would just be a convenient way of making a job vacancy for a more suitable character, and you can easily do that through the normal channels of Starfleet bureaucracy without outsourcing the problem to the grim reaper.

Honestly, Trek runs on stupid. If someone competent actually took charge of anything, things would get done and nothing fun would ever happen. You can't have epic adventures fixing other people's messes if there aren't any messes being created by incompetent fools every moment.

So as much as we hate people like Kurland and Quinn, sadly we need them. Our lives would be dull and boring without them.
Cheers from Antonio Valerio Cortez III, Half-Celestial Archduke of the Free Marches Confederacy.
