What happens if they send a ton of players to the Foundry, which has long loading screens for a reason and hasn't been optimized, improved, or maintained much in 3 years?
I hope that question is nonsensical, due to what is really going on. Otherwise, all of you grinders can blame the evil Foundry cabal for sabotaging your plans to play the same mission 8 times today.
Or blame the Foundry for being the monster of Frankenstein who turns on his creator after the creator abandons him to die.
Lol I guess the Foundry Weekend is done for the moment. Not that many people really play the Foundry unless it for reward otherwise there's no demand for story content developed using a horribly under-supported and feature-lacking design tool (When the old NWN2 Toolset has more features you know there's a problem).
But no this outage is like the other two I linked to from last year where there is a server / network level problem... it started off with a few users, then a lot in certain countries and now it's spread the server was taken offline to resolve the issue, could take 8 hours could take the whole weekend.
I actually know a guy who watches tractors ploughing fields on youtube... seriously... he is fascinated by them. He used to work on a farm... I call it tractor TRIBBLE...so... in honour of him...find me the best tractor TRIBBLE out there!

This is true, but I had logged in prior to that post, though after about five minutes in was given the boot, then I came to the forums to see what was up, if anything.
I think it was not wide spread at first, that is all I am saying, and for all I know the mod logged out and back in to check.

At least a Community Management Specialist (Community Management wha?!) has responded now, and officially acknowledged the issue, and that they're working in it.

Oh I know, it's ridiculous. Half the battle is just getting the UI to perform a simple task.
They really should move the Foundry Editor out of the game and into "offline" mode.

No update for like 2 hours on their twitter.. but I bet they are trying to fix this problem so it does not pop up again the minute everything is up and running, as I experienced random DCs and lag around one hour before this failure began to spread.. as others did and mentioned as well..

yes they know the probelm, the reason is harder, the solution is just out of reach until the reason is found if no reason is found you are just left with the problem. Vicious circle.

for once its a good thing it crashed when it did for us out here in europe, we can get some sleep and not worry too much, the american side of the equation is not so fortunate, im sure a lot of kids and tired workers want to come home unwind by playing sto and find the server down in and around this sort of time frame.

That is the problem, it's almost impossible to do anything truly good with the tools currently at hand, the current enthusiasts who do try their best with the crappy tools Cryptic have left them to use often have to resort to hacks and and all kinds of non-optimal methods to just get the basic functionality they need to create a mission.
The thing is as much as I admire the enthusiasm The Foundry as it is just doesn't draw a significant number of users and never will, even with reward weekends like this one... where the reality is people just spam the spotlights and then disappear after the weekend ends. All this just shows that people go for the rewards not the Foundry itself. It's a thankless task being a Foundry Author, little love from the developers and even less from most users. So you probably made a good choice avoiding it.
If anyone is in the GMT timezone I suggest at this point unless you're a night owl you should get some sleep. It's probably not going to get resolved any time soon
surely one of the bigger problems they are going to have is when it all starts back up again and everyone online tries to logon at the same time. The poor logon server/s are going to think they are being hit with a DDOS attack
Seems all Cryptic games use the same server... Not just STO is down, but Champions and Neverwinter too
I believe they're sharing the same chat servers too. Would be kinda naive of us, to think they really have like 20 different buildings for 20 different games.
