the old ESD has in basic terms never been changed since launch, it was drab, boring and in my opinion pretty depressing.
this at least makes STO look new and makes it look like 2409 instead of 2309.
quinns area kinda reminds me of Admiral Hackett's CIC in Mass Effect 3.
That's BS, it has received three revamps since launch. The first was the exterior, the next was a large general revamp of the interior, and the third was a replacement of a number signs and other visuals. Now this is the fourth one and this one is the most unncessary of all.

I don't count the earlier interior changes as they were minor and still TRIBBLE. and in the basic form, it hasn't been changed, it's had some minor skin lifts but nothing else.
the external I'm also disappointed with because it's a 200 year old design, time to upgrade it by merging the old ESD (2009) with the current ESD.
and no this was not the most necessary of all, in its state right now ESD looks like some random Space Genre kitbash, but with the new one in tribble, it at least feels like 2409 Star Trek, the Medical bay looks like trek, the arrangement, the feeling it's STARFLEET in the right era.
it looks much bigger and a good thing too, I've got a feeling it will be a new integral part of STO n some way, maybe they'll introduce new mechanics, lounge with poker, or something like that.
the last interior update was necessary, this one makes ESD feel alive.

I love how some people immediately are like "new zone? Lets see how to climb up there".
The good old times where we had no content and didn't do anything else but climbing stuff^^
I never felt like an ESD revamp was overly necessary, but it looks really awesome and being there will be much more fun then before, thats certain.
Still I wonder how thin ESD outer walls actually are if this relatively small room is everything between the inner docking area and the outside.... (but thats nitpicking, I know^^)
Still it seems to be quiet small compared to old ESD or Quo'nos.
Oh and: The lower areas are for the foundry as far as I know, they are already in use.

can't wait to see it finished and lit properly.
I like the new revamped station and the current does work, but they release half-TRIBBLE seasons and now revamping areas where other places should be updated first or at least release the rest of the season.
new ESD actually feels somewhat post-TNG like, its actually amazing, i'm honestly surprised cryptic managed to do a great job like this.
i wonder if cryptic hired new art guys or something.
Where have you been? They have been pumping out good art like this for a couple of years now.
Bajor, New Romulus, The Romulan Flotilla, Virinat Colony, Fleet Starbases (well, the OPS area anyway), Starfleet Academy...
It's just the main hubs you visit all the time that have still been so jarringly ugly in comparison. And this a great first step to remedy that and hopefully it is so well received, that they redo DS9, K7, SB 39 and a few other places over time as well.
took a quick peek at the video, most of it was ruined by those players firing off their weapons and switched off after that. will have to look it up myself when i can.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
I wonder what will happen to foundry missions that use locations/objects in the old ESD - if those'll get broken forever.
And just my two cents - it looks a bit like they have been renovating the lower levels of ESD for use as a public space, as opposed to the current floorplan, which could be an upper level in the more cramped upper hub. That's just my theory.

Foundry doors should all be save. The assents are still there, just moved to new places. One of the doors is currently on top of the window/roof. The panel opposite the old transporter is almost free floating near the ESD hologram, the NPC contacts are standing around somewhere. So all the missions should still work.
Some Foundry missions that utilize the old map interior might have continuity issues, though.

I hope the authors are all still around to change the texts, then. Otherwise, more headache.
And like I said, it feels that they're opening up a new space on the 'Dock for public use, with the old ones still sitting around in another deck.

To all the hard working environmental artists who had a hand in this....
All I can say is...WOW!
I was expecting a change, but you guys and gals blew my socks off! The New ESD Interior rocks!!
It's way Treky and certainly has a 25th century feel to it now. The basic layout to get to stuff is so much more open and accesable - amazing! The detail work is outstanding (Waterfalls, plants, new display pop-ups, etc.)
Now all we have to wait for is the inevitable, "ESD Interior is OP! Plz nerf!" threads. lol!
Heh, that's because It is OP, but soooo COOL! Great job! Can't wait for it to go live!
The exterior is fine . If you don't remember how it looked before it got the most recent update, take a gander at Star base 39. That's the old esd . The interior is what needs to be streamlined and all the clutter should be removed like the diso area ( really?) . Now of they do update the outside ( which there's a good chance they will , since they don't listen to the player base ) they should make it a work in progress with workers removing hull plates and worker bees floating all over the place .
In regards to questions posed in the video. Customized Kits are in the Tribbe builds. The current Kits are still present and aren't being changed go to Drozona Station and visit a console in the bar to get a random customized Kit and ability jewels to place in them.
Second the revamped armor and kit costume pieces are in the Tailor already. All of the armor skins are in your normal uniform selections. Kit pices are in new attachment areas in the Advanced view of the Body editor.

i've been here since f2p started, and with the exception of new romulus and the voth battlezones/areas(especially new romulus), i wasn't particularly impressed, so yeah, i'm surprised about new ESD, it actually feels like a post-TNG era should(even if it resembles mass effect a bit).

This must be the project that the graphics guys were working on that the dev said (paraphrased) he was sure everyone will love.
Everyone except for those of us who play KDF. Don't get me wrong, I "love" the new ESD that you guys got, but it is basically the last thing on my radar of what the game probably needs.

Cool. Now they need to revamp Qo'Nos.
They already did. The city is fine as is.
True, but they need to add a few things (exchange in an easier to reach spot)
WRONG SIR!!

* the shipyards we can see through the windows should be outside in the space zone for us to fly next too.
* The Bank/Fleet Bank Console should be placed elsewhere (or at least, better angled; seems out of place here).
* The holographic consoles (the ones the guy decided to cycle all of) could be different from each other.
* The Ensign Medic could be renamed? Contraband, Prisoners and Changeling could do with not being given to an Ensign Medic.
Now, for the procs
* Love the water features and plant life
* Love the spacial awareness
* Love the colours and textures
* Love the shuttlebay (by commodities)
Other
* Lower Levels ~ There is no point in even having this, there never has been. Please remove.
* Remove the Voth. :P

Just so long as it renders properly, with a few lil tweaks I cannot wait to run around there myself.
