That could work too, if he was interested. The voice is distinctive enough.

And, as a holographic AI, the character would certainly still be "alive". Any Delta Quad VO with the Doctor in it could be hilarious and full of sarcastic wit. That's the way any such thing ought to be written, anyway.

Still think Tim Russ is the more likely candidate, but I would not be disappointed with this either.

Kate Mulgrew has the voice for it, but I just can't see her being A) affordable and B) available or C) interested.

Ethan Phillips also has a distinctive voice, but I can't see the fans being all that enthusiastic about a Neelix VO.

    How about Jerri Ryan?
I'm tellin ya, they add Jerri and I'll download ARC the next day AND LOVE IT.................:D

    TO THE DEVS
how about do something useful for the players and stop doing what's best for you guys and help us, bring back and FIX the MIRROR EVENT, the other day i had to wait 2 days for the event and then it was around 0300 i mean seriously that is stupid

you are destroying the game, you have made it more of a GRIND then actually having fun, among levelling, costing real money to buy gear and fleet ships as you are now a pay to win game ,
then GRINDING FOR FLEET CREDITS, then again GRINDING the rep system do you actually realise how unhappy the community is, i know a lot of fleets and being in their team speak pve and pvp the numbers are growing of how people are talking about leaving the game, but back to my main point atleast try help us with the mirror event

"We also will be releasing a new featured episode alongside the update ? it stars a Star Trek actor who will bring their character to STO for the first time." - Stephen D?Angelo

Having Star Trek Alumni appearing in STO Featured Episodes and doing various Voice Acting (even for sector space descriptions and such miscellany) is the number one way to ensure I will continue to financially support the game. It really brings a new dimension to the gaming experience to "interact" with our beloved Star Trek heroes and villains "in person" through these wonderful gaming episodes.

Given the clues, I suspect the latest guest star might be John de Lancie, as Q! Though I will be happy with any actor from the various series and movie casts.

I have been begging the production team to do whatever they have to do in order to get William Shatner to Voice an intro for STO, with a game appropriate version of the "To Boldly Go...." phrase. It would be totally awesome to hear (the real) Captain Kirk welcome me to the game world every time i loaded the client!

Thanks for the new guest star...whomever it may be and the planned additions for 8.5 sound fantastic!

Chris Pine is no way a better Kirk than Shatner and is not even in the same category.

No, it isn't. New Kirk is a brick, and harasses random women in the street. Old Kirk was emotional (indeed, sometimes TOO emotional), and a good old-fashioned ladies' man, who seduced people by being friendly, polite, respectful, and caring. New Kirk treats rules as optional, whereas Old Kirk at least usually obeyed the rules (although he chafed under the lash of idiotic petty Starfleet bureaucrats with their pet projects).

New Kirk is inferior in every way. I want my Shatner, damn it!

Yes it is. It's your opinion, despite any qualities of the two you point out. Not everyone values the qualities of old Kirk, and not everyone dislikes the qualities of new Kirk.

    It's completely 100% subjective, period.

The hourly missions change doesn't bother me as I rarely even check the events ticker unless I notice a higher than usual payout.

I tend to play STO when I can and resent being told when to play.

The one thing that would make me Happy would be to remove the complete ALL STF requirements on MACO gear, the ground missions are terrible with mall walking Borg because of artificially inflated stats. Make the requirement be ALL Space or ALL Ground as some of us would rather play STAR Trek and not Colonial Marines.

Shatner would indeed rule and be well worth the extra $$ for the Class he would add to STO.

I'm very concerned about the loss of the hourly events. If done poorly this could make it next to impossible for new characters to finish reputations like Omega. It also could hurt small and new fleets and fleet marks. Also, assuming they remove crafting bonus, this just costs us all more dilithium.

People have been asking for Tim Russ to be in STO since Chase Masterson added her voice as Leeta to the game. From things I've heard, Mr Russ is a kind hearted soul and a great talent.

I would love hearing Tuvok in STO...and it would give me a reason to finally post the parody I did a few years back, Oh, Tuvok, up on my YouTube channel :)

Tuvok's cool, but I'd definitely prefer the Doctor if we're getting a Voyager actor.

And my inner pig male wants Seven of Nine, because that outfit. :P

And there's something exciting for players that have many starships in spacedock! With the Season 8.5 update, you will be able to easily switch between your starships in sector space and social zones ? we want to make it easy to quickly get to the ship you want to fly. Not only that, but each of your starships can have multiple pre-made build-outs saved, and you will be able to switch between them quickly and easily
I love you guys... all is forgiven! ;)

Very excited to see you guys looking at the essentials and add some much needed polish to the way switching ships and all is handled in game. Can't wait to take the update for a spin.

So no more use for more than one of each career, excellent! If only I could merge my 2 tac toons, and join the reputations together as well. I have been requesting a way to save ship layouts for years, finally! I hope this goes for skill setups as well?

Oh, I am so down with you, Robert Picardo is probably one of the best actors in all of Voyager, my vote and hope is for the Doctor:)

somebody early on in this thread said they didn't say they were removing hourly event, well the way I read it they did say they were removing them. ( You can expect the hourly calendar to disappear with Season 8.5,) and this my friends and enemies is a bad thing.

bonus mark 3 hour event is the only way im getting projects done. if this goes away im screwed.

and turning it into a weekend long thing. it would have to be every weekend and then sit on the thing the ENTIRE weekend to make enough to last all week. so it becomes another grind fest.

ill tell them now the reason so many people don't take part in the hourly calendar is they don't know about it. we recruit atleast 2 people a day who know nothing about it. or hourly event until we tell them. it isn't like its advertised in game or anything. same with the foundry and crafting.

saving ship builds is great welcomed addition .

but changing ships is sector space without being at a station kills the feel of the game. so its another attempt to make people who do not like star trek happy. rather than keeping the feel of the trek verse.

and they said they are making federation mission more cloak friendly. what about KDF mission where the hatred for cloaking is a real downer.

I am glad to see the hourly calendar vanish. It can be difficult to find people to run missions with outside of those mark-grab events. And when the event does run, it's three hours of ISE.

No one plays the Borg ground missions anymore, and many of the fleet mark missions are not worth clicking... no one plays.

The entire endgame experience could be condensed to ISE, Azure and CEE and no one would notice.

That's all fine and dandy but what needs to happen is an update to the old rep systems to bring them in line with Voth rep.

your nuts the voth rep takes longer to complete than the newer old rep system. I liked the older old rep system better.

Regarding the new voice acting. It occurred to me that Carolyn Seymour does do voice acting for video games (ex. Dragon Age and Mass Effect). She would be effective at voicing Taris again after all these years.

    O.o

That is nuts. The Voth reputation is unquestionably better. It requires far less resources, and you don't have to waste an excessive amount of reputation marks on increasing tiers. You can get to tier 5 and only spend 20 marks, leaving a ton of marks to buy useful gear with. Not to mention you don't have to get to tier 5 before you can buy anything useful.
Thanks for the expansion that had "as much content as the last"

No kidding. When working on Romulan, Nukara, and Omega rep at the same time on a single character that has tier 3 or higher in each, it can cost upwards of 300K+ energy credits for all the hypos, shield charges, power cells, major regenerators, and commodities, per character. And if I want to work on multiple characters at the same time, the cost is excruciating. Even having characters sponsored so they have the double XP and it cuts the time to tier up in half it's pricey.

I definitely love the starships in spacedock idea. I've been changing them often to play PvE as each one has different configurations and setup. Can't wait to change thme at will anywhere and anytime I want.

why not just link the foundry through the holodeck? that would tie the whole thing in nicely. would be pretty simple to implement.

OK allot of whats being done sounds awesome, however I have to disagree with the removal of the hourly event calendar. I like the idea of a weekend event, but removal of the entire hourly event calendar sounds bad, maybe not for my fed characters but for my kdf I either have to hope my fleet friends are on and want to do kdf instead of their feds OR I have to wait for the bonus mark event in order to do the fleet mark missions. Why not leave the hourly events but remove some of the fluff and add in more times that certain things happen? I don't know...like maybe make the mirror universe incursion happen more often OR last longer, remove the atmospheric assault and academy events and make them dailies or weekend events. if you want to make the things that are useful like bonus mark and dilithium mine and other such into weekend events REMOVE the cool down on the stf's for that weekend.
I've said my part anyone else want to weigh in on this?

    Hybrid Starships? Holy frack!

I'm going to go out on a limb and start the "based off nothing" speculation but considering the Sphere is in the delta quadrant I'll go ahead and presume the character coming into STO is from Voyager. I'm also going to stick my neck out and guess that the character will be (dun dun dun) Tuvok.

Whoever it is, I'm sure it'll be really fun. I can't wait. Long live STO

Either Tim Russ or Jeri Ryan.

Both are still apparently fond of the franchise (With Russ even pushing a series).
