Systems Designer Jeff "AdjudicatorHawk" Hamilton shares details about the process behind revamping the Undine space combat experience in this entry of the Season 8 News Dev Blog series.
Then they best come up with something other than "wander around looking for someone flipping a coin in the air" if they want me to attempt that one again.
Undine popping up more often and being more visible to the player (not necessarily to anyone else in-universe) in their role as antagonists setting the ABQ powers up to fight each other? Possibly even including new and revamped missions dealing with them at end-game?
Edit:
And with the mention of the Anniversary Event: Will it be revealed that the enemy the Voth are fighting is the Undine!?
KDF ground seems to have picked up a few AI NPC buffs with S8.5. (At least, I don't recall KDF ground using Suppressing Fire, Overwatch, and Snipers before)

With this, I'm seriously thinking the Voth just might BE fighting the Undine.
About time the Undine got the respect they deserve. Ever since I first encountered them I always thought they were a bad joke and an insult to the Undine from Voyager. Hopefully I will have the pleasure of taking that back with this revamp.
Btw, since you're updating them, could you perhaps make the Nicors a little faster and able to turn a hell of a lot better to bring them more into line with canon? Just a thought. But I am VERY much looking forwards to this update. And hopefully we will see more dreads in the upcoming seasons, since if I remember correctly, you only ever encounter ONE Undine dreadnought... ever...
(course that's how it should be... since you should never survive said encounter XD)
It is said the best weapon is one that is never fired. I disagree. The best weapon is one you only have to fire... once.
The cutscene discussing the Voth's recent conflict has green weapons fire.
Here's a crazy possibility: The dissident Voth are clearly well aware of the Iconian machinations and believe an alliance with the player factions against the Iconians is the best option. Presumably they know about them provoking the Undine, either on their own or through dialog with the player.
The first step in actually stopping Iconian plots and not just revealing them could be an open conflict with the Undine, with the end goal of forcing them into another dialog where Iconian involvement can be proven. From there, the Undine threat (the main reason behind the Klingon-Federation War) can be removed, and Undine cooperation in a future anti-Iconian coalition may be a possibility.
Well, that sounds nice and all, and I'll look forward to seeing what else you have cooked up, but a word of friendly advice.
Please don't forget about the lower level missions fed side where you have to face off against the Undine, and by that I mean, don't forget that the ships should be balanced for new players. I remember the F2P conversion and the un-killable Undine ship in the nebula, even with the Klink ships for support. Thank you.
You guys have managed to peak my interest, dare I hope for a return of a nicely remastered terradome or maybe some new end game content, maybe something that is actually a challenge?
Its been pretty well established next lockbox is Hirogen.
You have to be kidding - I think Undine ships - the cruiser and the dread would be very desirable lock box ships.
Oh so do I, but I think that's a decision that comes from above. I can totally imagine CBS putting the kabosh on player-owned Undine vessels, for reasons of canon and lore.
Since technically speaking, an Undine ship isn't a ship at all. It's a massive... organism. With one dude inside. It's more like a mount than a ship, really.

I actually like Delta Rising.
Nope, try again

Gekli Lockbox? :P

*throws a brick at Branflakes*
You mean... "Yes, good guese"
Unless the Undine are now using green disruptors, I doubt the Voth are at war with them as it was shown in the Dyson Rep cutscenes.
BUT YOU NEVER KNOW GUYS... :P
Look at the pretty mushroom grow
Hirogen

Yup, despite Brandon saying no....
I am not a lock box ship person usually - but I love the look of the cruiser and the dread carrier.
