The biggest reason the D'Deridex sucks is that it's current Eng boff slots were all formerly Sci. The amount of crying to have it changed to be 'just like the Fed cruisers because we don't know Science bawwwbawww' was retardedly high. Almost as high as the devs were when they made such a change.

Umm no...originally the DD had the same layout as the Galaxy class...overloaded with Eng slots, then over time it was changed to the much more attractive build it is today.
Can't have a honest conversation because of a white knight with power
Ouch so I got to level 30 recently and got my new D'Deridex and all, and I did a mission and I noticed a HUGE drop in performance from my Mogai. So bad that im actually going back to my level 20 ship again...
Anyone else feel like this?
I won't say the D'Deridex sucks, but I don't like it for my play style. Others in my fleet saw my purchase of the Valdore warbird was silly. "Why buy a ship for only 10 levels" they would ask. I just said, hey, I've made sillier purchases in my life...lol. As it turns out, not such a silly purchase, as I am now using it till at least lvl 40.

the 2 consoles power "singularity projection" from D'Drithau and D'D refit is VERY nice. too bad it is only limited for use with the D'D

Another I hate DD thread....LOL...its not the ship....its the OPERATOR...Adjust and learn how to make the ship better...or just get another to fit your play style
Ah but the free version does suck. And people feel resentful for being forced to take a crappy ship, and that resentment comes out in threads like this one.
I dont see whats so important that makes keeping it this way worth pissing off every new customer

This.
Thankfully, all the QQ the galaxy layout instantly received resulted in a better ship being offered.
I found the free D'D to be fine, but I skipped a cannon build in favor of a better mixed platform.

Actually you don't have to take the D'deridex. You can grab a Galaxy, Defiant, Intrepid, Raptor, BoP, or Battlecruiser instead. Depends on your alignment.
It is said the best weapon is one that is never fired. I disagree. The best weapon is one you only have to fire... once.

You cannot buy those allied ships for your Romulan toon as you level unless:
- You spend diithium, since the Free Ship Token does not apply to allied ships. You need to fly a Romulan ship with the token, as it should be.
- You can use the allied ships if you spent the C-Store resources to acquire them.

You know many underlevels that have that kind of dilithium?
when in battle cloak the big bird turns faster and moves faster, close to escort levels.
the Double D was epic.
Explain how that is epic.
Can you tank while cloaked? No. Can you do damage while cloaked? No. Does it have the slowest turn rate than any other ship in the game? Yes, with the Caitian Atrox Carrier.
And with such a slow turn rate, when you get the retrofit and want to tank end game, it's quite hard to tank stuff because everyone else gets there before you and it's hard to rotate the shield facings before someone/something sticks a torpedo in your hull.
Cryptic did give you an option to get around that, at least with a temporary boost: buy the D'ridthau (with real money) for the Molecular Phase Inverter. Even with that though, it's still slow.
I really wanted to use the D'Deridex but personally I will stick to the RA ship and possibly get the Scimitar if I feel like spending the money.
That's quite the paradox, how could you nerf nerf when the nerf is nerfed. But how would the nerf be nerfed when the nerf is nerfed? This allows the nerf not to be nerfed since the nerf is nerfed? But if the nerf isn't nerfed, it could still nerf nerfs. But as soon as the nerf is nerfed, the nerf power is lost. So paradoxally it the nerf nerf lost its nerf, while it's still nerfed, which cannot be because the nerf was unable to nerf.
Technically speaking, activating abilities that do not disable the cloak, or activating abilities that cause DoT effects and then cloaking are dealing damage while cloaked.
Does it have the slowest turn rate than any other ship in the game? Yes, with the Caitian Atrox Carrier.
Incorrect. The Haakona and Ha'apax turn at a rate of 5, where the Fleet D'Deridex turns at 5.5. There are also slower turning vessels outside of the Romulan faction.
And with such a slow turn rate, when you get the retrofit and want to tank end game, it's quite hard to tank stuff because everyone else gets there before you and it's hard to rotate the shield facings before someone/something sticks a torpedo in your hull.
Tactical Team mitigates this. Everyone should be running at least one copy of this ability on their D'Deridex.

Well if you're looking to be a damage dealer, this ship is not for you. It's the Romulan equivalent of a cruiser, it's not an escort.

I like my Double D retro. She has an all Elachi beam build. XII purple quantums up front and XII photons to the rear. Dual beams up front, singles everywhere else. Plasmonic Leech, Nukara Console, and that singularity console thing (not the DD one with the ship but the one from the Elachi box.
Whoa my DD kicks butt. Its no escort but i dont expect it to be. I love it.
Monkey see, Monkey do. Monkey flings Feathered Monkey poo...
what is laughable to me is that I got my romulan tac character to va in 1 day because of Q. I get to va and no new ship. that sucks because I got my promotion and wha wha whaaaaa nothing. how bs is that and I have been playing since the beta.

No kidding with a few hours with a new KDF officer I leveled to 15 inside of an hour. Jesus finished Nimbus already a Brig General.
With the Q XP boost you FLY through levels.

The last free ship silver players get is at level 40 that is true for all factions. These ships are effectively equal to 9 console lvl 50 C-Store ships (basically anything that didn't come in a 3 pack).
Other than C-Store ships and Lockbox ships the only ships you can get at level 50 are the 1000 day vet ship (if you are a 1000 day vet), and the ships unlocked for the 600 day vet token (T'Varo Refit, Dehlan Refit, Mogai Refit, and D?deridex Refit)
My Romulan Liberated Borg character made it to Level 30 and beat the (old) Defense of New Romulus with the skill point bug.
I just got my D'Deridex for my Eng yesterday and after some tweeking it is a sadistically strong ship (7k dps out the door on CSE). Now I only have 3 Superior Operatives thus far on it and no rep, something I might hold off until season 8 or do to atleast tier 2 across the board for ZP and Borg consoles/cutting beam, but otherwise I'm all on picked up MK XII gear and weapons I bought on the exchange. Plus the thing is tank-able.
I haven't been doing a lot of PvP as of late, mostly just on the weekends, but I've already heard of some powerful D'D builds that are darn hard to kill.
I'm actually tempted to reproduce this build on a sci for sensor scan and subnuc.

LTS, here since...when did this game launch again?
I used a regular T4 D'D loaded up with end-game gear for crystaline. A couple of days ago I upgraded the ship to the fleet version. Layout is really different but that's part of the fun. Its not able to do dual-AtB (which is what everybody is actually refering to), which limits its max potential quite a bit. Also it only has 3 tac consoles, which limits its damage potential even more. Scimitar beats it on both counts pretty handily.
I like having a super-heavy in the arsenal for when I need a tank, things like Hive and Crystaline, and the old Undine STF that was removed recently, where staying alive is important because you cant kill the target quickly. That's what I bought it for, and it works well for that, even if it doesnt put double-digits on the DPS scoreboard everytime.
It can do Aux2Batt, not the traditional 2 Lt. slot A2B, but Lt. and Lt.Cmdr. You may loose some heals or resistance, but combined with singularity powers and or phase cloak, you can still survive most situations, bump your Grav. and Par.Gen. and put something like Grav. Well. or TBR on the ship and it becomes nasty combined with APO1/Cloak Ambush and begin your Aux2Batt cycle. With pumped Grav, even low Aux Grav Well still can hold your target, I also went with Singularity Core with [Wave] if someone decides to try and come up behind me.

About the only thing I can say to the ones that don't think it can amount to anything. I have used it since I was able to, all the way up to the Fleet version. It's a monster of a ship. Epic in fact. It depends alot on your skills and setup and playstyle. It's not for everyone.
Couldn't agree more. The current D'Deridex is horrendous and UNACCEPTABLE!
I did some balancing of my own and some research on the game's itemization budget for ship setups, and this is the ONLY ACCEPTABLE SETUP that the D'Deridex can have (imo):
ANYTHING ELSE IS UNACCEPTABLE! I've crunched the numbers. I've looked at the other ships in the game. And the layout I present here is the only layout that works for the D'Deridex.
It's also cannon. If you watch Sacrifice of Angels or really ANY of DS9's last season, you'll see the D'Deridex PWNing the heck out of the combined forces of the Cardassians and the Dominion. Which is why the above setup is the ONLY setup that can work for the most iconic, most awesomest, most bestest, most popularity Romulan ship ever created.

it is playable also in PVP; but one wonders if playing with mogai or other ship would not produce better results..
D'D is a fancy ship though.
