Dps: Channels (pve Records)

Hi guys, Hulk/Mal here
The DPS channels are having a shake up DPS-5000 DPS-8000 DPS-11000 are all being deleted and merged into one channel DPS-10,000

the reasons are as follows:
1) the 5k channel has no to little operators and has no ability to make more
2) the standard of player in the 5k has dropped considerably
3) the mentality of these channels is not what we intended, while we understand some people do not want to do strive for high dps that is fine these channels are not for you
4) high power creep and skill increases means 10k is considered the new baseline by many of admins
5) we want to help everyone and to do that effectively we need the members to be as up for improvment as the admin are to help them improve so the 10k limit is a good half way point
6) standardisation 11k channel had too many rules

the new channels will be 10k>20k>30k
FOR PLAYERS WHO DO NOT REACH 10K 20K OR 30K there is a public channel called DPS-Public

in the update (15.12.2013) There is a box to check for the dps channels settings

ise will be used as the test zone as its the best standard candle test in game

once this transistion is complete i will edit this post

    I hope to get a tryout for the channels...i would love to see what my missing I ingredient is to push my dps to 30k+.

    My best guess is positioning and lack of same aptitude players...

    Do you have a helper channel? Or is it reserved for those in the bottom channel?

    10k is the entry level for the channels

    but there are good helpful players in there and all the 30k players keep a watchfull eye incase of missinformation is given out

    we want to help the community be better in both pve and pvp and that starts with knowledge

    Pretty much several of us are on during the day. So, just look for our @ names. Be more than happy to give you a test run and bring you into the community. I will add other names to the list to look for as well.

    Ouch.

    I didn't really pay attention to such things in the past, but I'm seeing it creep downward.

    I consider myself a fairly stupid support player. I might not know the whys, but when someone hits me with a clue by four, I listen. Probe duty? On it.

    I used to fly a cruiser, and I had no idea what I was doing. Then I built a hilbert PVEscort, and thought I was doing a bit better.

    But now I hear 5k isn't cutting it? I'm getting yelled at in KSE's because I'm supposed to hit some magical limbo bar I can't even see. If you are going to crack down, crack down hard. The bleed out is hitting us casuals.

    Apologies if this is inappropriate. I realize that there will always be DPS police in STF's, but I'm trying my hardest and just being told I suck.

    yes 5K isnt cutting it not when 50k is possible, if you dont want to improve these channels are not for you, IF however you DO want to improve there are many players here that will take the time to help you do just that.

    The program has an auto update function so will add any updates, a dps leauge table should hopefully be implemented in the coming few weeks along with some other changes

    Downloaded the link from your post, picked the update option, it closed down and won't start again... does the auto update feature not work?

    it should work, if not delete it, re dowload it dont select the auto update function and clcik the version in the top right and manualy download it.

    if there are still problems ill speak to the creator tonight or tomorrow

    I'm glad I managed to get into 10k before the channels were closed, since now I have nothing but up and up from here. :D

    might I make a suggestion?

    You should also have a public channel for those of us who are struggling to get anywhere near the DPS of your elite channels, where people from the high dps channels can give advice to people who are striving for improvement. No offense, but, with all of you hanging out in the highroller channels there's no one around to help the rest of us.

    Open your logfile with an editor and delete the first row if it is empty.

    Looks like I'll be checking my DPS tonight to get into the 10K queue lol

    On a separate side note the new programme is really top notch ^^

    I am assuming Escort with CSV2 x 2 and Betas are the way forward for jumping above 10K?

    Out of curiousity, what settings do you use?

    I use: active combat for duration, shield hits count as damage (because, duh, they do), and attribute pets to owner's damage totals.

    I think that's about all I use, I'd have to double check to verify.

    Well, yes, I saw that. But I don't have that update and am wondering what options/criteria you use. What was your "standard" so to speak.

    I'll look into updating it later, but am not at home right now.

    Good day I've heard lots of the DPS channels, I currently have a heavy hitting romplas leeching scimitar faw/apb beam boat. My best parse to date is 25k and I could use help getting it higher. I'm sure I've got room for improvement via doff and skill allocation. For anyone that would like to give me a hand feel free to friend me my toon is Kendra@matthewboss31.

    shield hits count as damage (because, duh, they do)

    you got it wrong. The setting is "count shield hits to HITS". Shield damage is always included in the overall damage (but you can see shield damage and hull damage separated in the damage tables).
    The meaning of this setting is this: in the logfile there are always two different entries for the shield damage and the hull damage of one attack. (If there was shield damage) In my tests with the ACT (HilbertPVP-Plugin) it counted them both (so you got two hits for one shot). This setting will do the same in the CombatLogReader. But in fact this is senseless, because shield and hull damage of one attack are obviously part of the same hit. Selecting this setting will only increase your number of hits/attacks and create "wrong" values for CrtH and Acc. It only exists for better comparability with the ACT.
    I think I will replace it in the next future.

    The linked version is not the current version. Please run the update. It should say 1.1.3.3.

    omegashoker, thank you very much. I hadn't realized that was what it was doing. I'll turn that option off, based on what you've explained.

    I'll try the update option when I get back to it later tonight.

    Can anyone answer why this new 'parser' has changed files size 2x in recent days. And no offense, but Java is a wee bit weak for security. My corporate antivirus (which I have to trust) disables any attempt to review it.

    Just curious why STO is allowing links to third party software....

    I'm not overly keen on that, myself. However, I understand that this was coded specifically for this game by somebody donating their time and effort. Most likely that person works in Java and had the tools to code in that language. It seemed fairly widespread in use so I gave it the benefit of the doubt.
