Hi,
I'm new and I have a question:
Does the Starship Architect still exist and how do I get to it.
I'm wanting to build a physical model, but I need to design it first,,thought it would be easier to use this option if it exist.
Any info or help is appreciated.
Thanks
I'm doing a very exhaustive size comparison for the galor class. Hard to do when they are attacking you. But in one screenshot I managed to bump into one from behind which then slipped me directly beneath it. We were both facing roughly the exact same direction so in the picture I lined up the very back ends of each ship, from the very tip overtop each other.
First time I took the KDF ship size chart and went in and cut out the lengths by pixel at where I saw the galor ship end at in correlation to my ship (custom vo'quv carrier with some vod'leh pieces)
In that case, using an online percentage calculator I took each pixel length and did a "this number is what percent of this number?" deal. This came out to be 57.82 roughly. Then doing a "What is 57.82% of 1250?" and the answer is just about 722 meters.
Thinking I might have messed up somewhere (doubting myself) I tried and went to my original screenshot, did a pixel size check from head to tail in that particular screenshot (495 pixels) then in the next one did it for only the galor (285 pixels).
Crazy enough, the difference between the 2 different methods was nearly the same, this answer was 57.57575757%. Thats only a difference of 0.25%. Doing the same as before with the "What is 57.57% of 1250?" and got 719.6.
Now, it was a custom ship of mixed pieces, the difference between vo'quv and vod'leh is 50 meters. I had a vo'quv hull, neck, but vod'leh head and pylons. With this the nacells are not the end of the ship. Confused, I split the difference between them, using 1225 and the difference between the percentages as well at 57.69.
706.7 is just about 57.69% of 1225.
So rounding up, my estimate for the length of the Galor class is 707 meters, with a variance of 7 meters up or down, as I cannot get a perfect comparison unless someone had a model viewer to get exacts.
What I would like to know is why ships always look far larger than they should? I was next to a Kestrel Runabout in my Kumari Escort. Isn't that supposed to be a shuttle? It was at least five times the size of my ship.
In the info, why are a lot of ships listed as "[]" in the ship's type? Have they not added these into the game?
What are the largest ships? I thought the Bortas Heavy Cruiser was large but it is always dwarfed next to other ships, even shuttles and fighters. Doesn't make sense.
I support this ship scaling and If the ships and stations are all to scare the universe would feel bigger. and IF you lowered the space junk in Galaxy maps, you should be able to make the zones 4 times as large.
Cryptic this game NEEDS true scale to get that Star Trek feeling.

Scaring the Universe is only going to get you trouble! LOL!
Although they might be able to optimize things a bit, the "sector-ization" of the maps is necessary to reduce lag/load on the servers. This is the reason that ships and planets are a lot smaller than they should be.
Also, I'm sure that you noticed that the bridges and hallways on the ships are much larger than they should be. This is because they are trying to keep the "player camera/view" inside the walls so you don't see outside the "set".

I dunno, ive seen a deridex next to a scimitar, and that is big.
Huh? What are you talking about? Oh... Is your subspace relay down? You should have your engineer fix it because you're responding to conversation that finished over a month ago.

Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though. JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

This is a repost of my Ship Size Comparison Chart, which I originally posted in the Academy forum. While SpiderMitch's Ship Chart is really cool and complete, it doesn't really show the sizes of the various ships against each other. (By intention, he has said, so I'm glad I could fill in that gap) Since we now have a single Federation ship forum, and this might get sticked, I thought I'd repost it.
This is taken from ingame, and all screenshots were taken at a standard distance (I edited a demo) so it should be completely accurate. I added some ship lengths that I researched from Memory Alpha and some other places, and it actually seemed to be pretty accurate. There were some discrepancies, but for the most part I was able to relate length in pixels to meters, which is how I estimated the sizes for those that I could not find listed.
Both a Federation and a Klingon version are included, although I included some Fed ships in the Klingon chart for comparison purposes. The Klingon ships get WAY bigger than the Federation with those carriers, and so their chart is to a smaller scale. (The smallest ships may be a bit harder to see)
Also, just for grins, I've added this chart with the Multi Vector Assault Mode sections, as well as some ships in that range (and the assembled ship) for reference.
FED 1.5 - Added background grid. Added Class F Shuttle and Peregrine Fighter. Corrected name of Dervish to Hermes and Destiny to Trident. Corrected Hermes nacelles, changing Hermes' estimated size and order in chart. Corrected spelling of Saber.
FED 1.4 - Added Oberth
MVAM 1.0 - Initial revision, to display Prometheus MVAM sections.
FED 1.3 - Changed yellow lighting to blue. (changed to Earth sector for screenshots)
KDF 1.0 - Initial revision, including 18 KDF ships, 2 shuttles, 2 fighters (from the carriers) and 6 Fed ships for comparison.
FED 1.2 - Reordered ships in strict order of length.
FED 1.1 - Removed lens flare. Added Delta Flyer and Tal'Kyr shuttles. Doubled up shuttle section. Corrected Assault Cruiser appearance from Noble to Sovereign, and corrected several canon lengths. Corrected Defiant to Tier 4/5.
FED 1.0 - Initial revision, including 23 ships and 3 shuttes. Ships are in order of estimated mass.
It says the Oddy was added to the chart, but I don't see it. Yes, the Star Cruiser is in there, but not the Oddy.
in future updates what I would like to see would be a ship design station, where you can design your own ship we can change things like weapons and consoles but only on the ships they provide, it would be great to have a dock where you can design your own ship, more of one type of console than another or if you have more weapons less abilities or console slots or less shield ability, this would even the ships out, and you have to pay dilithium and parts and commodities to build the ships, there is no end of possibilities, on where you can go with this idea.
Thank you all for the wonderful gaming experience of STO. I have a request and suggestion about new and updated ships. It would be nice to have a T6 and fleet version dyson destroyer vessels added to the game. For a ship designed from the tech resulting from the dyson sphere, it makes since that there are continual ongoing advancements coming out of there. I think that will play very well due to the current story line of the game with future tech being introduce & used. Also pertaining to the dyson sphere tech, it would be nice to offer a three ship variants like the 31st century ships, for example one tactical, science, cruiser (or better yet dreadnought with hanger bay; maybe two). There needs to be a T6 patrol escort and fleet version. Also that ship should have five weapons in the front and three in the back (including rear tail gun that fire 360 degrees). I suggest that ship should have five bridge officers’ slots instead of the only four it currently has. The last observation I have is that the Kelvin Timeline Intel Dreadnought Cruiser should've been made with five tactical upgrades instead of four and four engineering instead of five. Also it should have a full commander tactical/intel bridge officer station instead of being engineering. The reason I have for this is due to what Khan Noonien Singh said himself. We know clearly that he designed the vessel in his statements to Captain Kirk. He specifically stated that unlike most Starfleet ships this one was built "solely for combat". That is why I believe it should have been configure differently. With all that being said, I again thank you for such a wonderful gaming experience. I hope you consider adding those ships to the game with those features. I believe there are many others who feel the same and would look toward to acquiring these additional ships into their fleet.
I can't take it anymore! Could everyone just chill out for two seconds before something CRAZY happens again?!

Yeah a comparison chart from 2011 leaves out a ship that was introduced into the game in 2013.
What a shock.
