Hi Captains,

As we will be observing the Thanksgiving holiday in the US this week, we will be bringing down Star Trek Online tomorrow, Tuesday, November 26th, at 7AM PDT (click here to view in your timezone) for maintenance and to apply a new patch. Patch notes can be found here, and we expect this maintenance to last for 3 hours. The test server, launcher and access to manage your account may also be unavailable during some portions of the maintenance.

Note: This maintenance will take place of Thursday morning's normally scheduled maintenance.

Thanks for your patience and understanding,

- The Star Trek Online Team

    General:
    • Resolved a crash that was occurring when loading into the Crystalline Catastrophe event.
    • Equipped consumable items will no longer be placed into the inventory when used.
    • Resolved a graphics issue which was causing some players to see distorted images and backgrounds.
    • The tertiary attack of the Voth Shocktrooper Cannon may no longer be used in Social Zones.

    Known Issues:
    • A crash is occurring for some at the loading screen after launching STO.
    • The mission "Mine Enemy" cannot be completed.
    • The Romulan EV suit light is in the wrong spot.

Damn good show. The Voth cannon melee attack was getting absurdly annoying on Drozana.

Still no fix for the EV suit though :|

    Well.

    Wait and see mode engaged.

Hopefully the graphic-foolery is fixed but given that Cryptic has a WELL ESTABLISHED track record of breaking stuff... I'm not holding out much hope.

The graphics will be fine, but the AUDIO will consist of nothing but Yakity-Sax on an endless loop while in space. :D

Did you fix the Deferi missions. I can't do the outpost one to complete the run for Dil. Due to the store keeper keeps showing up. And not the person to give you the mission to assist the outpost.

This really hurt my farming round I make for Dil. And put a hold on a couple of my characters.

All I care about is, are we getting the Foundry back?

I suspect that this patch will correct the "spreading" of graphics but not the degeneration of graphics into a mess of non-textured and distorted stuff. Feels like two separate issues to me. Maybe I can play STO on Turkey Day.

Thanks for the quick fix on one of the graphics issues, though. I mean that sincerely. Somebody was probably sweating over the weekend for that.

Kudos to the folks at Cryptic for the quick fix of some serious issues. Now, I won't feel like I've made the jump to LUDICROUS SPEED while in sector space.

Now, if we could just get the galaxy map and Deferi Outpost 3 bugs fixed, I'll be a happy camper for now.

Will we see an extension for the Solanae tribble if this doesn't fix the launcher crash bug?

How about fixing the exchange so sort by unit price and other selections actually work?

The bridge officers positioning as department heads for duty officer missions so the bridge officers you select stay where you put them?

Possibly go through each of the duty officer missions so the written details of the type of officer required and the traits required actually match what is automatically being shown from the selection lists?

Okay, my feelings are mixed about this. FAW not critting affects 2 of my characters. The graphics issue affected all of them before I installed a mod driver for my GMA4500M TRIBBLE graphics card. Now the other graphics issue affects all of them, but less often than the smearing problem. On balance, is this an improvement? Yes. Should this be necessary? No. Absolutely not. It seems like this is something that should have been caught in the testing process for the patch that caused this issue.

Mine Enemy being broken? Not surprising, with the track record of breaking missions in certain subtle ways (anyone remember having to team with a romulan to finish Installation 18?).

On to the real issues, please. Foundry's loot cap has been removed, which is going to rapidly inflate the economy in ways that Tour the Universe used to. Foundry is still disabled from the season launch, and I really want to make the mission I have in my head. BFAW doesn't crit, which hurts everyone using beam builds (every science vessel except the vesta, every cruiser except the avenger and dreadnought, lots of Avengers, lots of Scimitars, probably a lot of Ha'apax builds).

It'd be great if the pressing issues could also be fixed, and I know Cryptic is busy, but would it have killed you guys to launch the Sphere about a week or two later, rather than having a 2-3 week testing period on Tribble before it got sent out into the world?

I missed it elsewhere; what exactly was the intended fix? Does FAW currently crit more often than CSV/TS, the other AoE attack mod powers?

Actually it doesn't crit at all.
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.

    couldn't agree more .

and also it says in release notes:

    "Known Issues:

A crash is occurring for some at the loading screen after launching STO."

Well... um..... forgive me sounding ungrateful yet.... I think 'some' is more than an understatement here.

cryptic has lost many customers already due to the crashes , .... and yet they are not fixing that yet?!?!?!

Though I suppose they enjoy losing money from people who either use to be a monthly sub, or was thinking of being one.

Clearly a 'known issue', and if cryptic is smart, they'll work their teams extra hard on fixing that problem Now, even if it means they have to take the game offline for 2 hours a day or whatever, until they fix it.

c'mon I know your better than it seems, team! do it.
    ;)
