"AFK Penalty"... if only that goes well. I applaud the idea, but at the same time know it's tricky business for a non-human (software) to determine what constitutes AFK-ing. For instance, in Elachi Alert, I sometimes find myself more-or-less 'idle' for a while, waiting in front of the Iconian gate for enemies to come out. That's not AFK-ing, of course: there's simply, momentarily, nothing to do (but fly up and down a bit).

I hope it goes well and there wont be any need for emergency maintenances .

Though I hope that the 7th costume bug and the dyson reptuation marks missing from the inventory tab will be fixed.
Let us wear Swimsuits on Foundry maps or bridges please! I would pay zen for that.

Just imagine Romulan captains waiting to lay out a decloaking alpha strike on a mob spawn point... then getting a penalty for fighting like a Romulan. Or a new 50 guarding probes in KVE with auto-attack active. Etc. Hopefully this turns out to be well implemented, though after a week or so I plan to give Mine Trap another shot to see if everyone present actually is; that's a pretty good mission if it isn't a case of "the lights are on, but you're not home."

Oh, and gratz Mac users, we welcome you!

I was looking forward to a Romulan specific EVA suit, too. Just not in the manner it's being introduced.

    Oh, well.

I presume the EV suits will be obtained via dilthium now yeah? Great that they finally got them out of the C-store now I can have enough to equip a whole away team with if they do any more EVA missions :D.

    No.

The Starfleet and KDF suits are being pulled from the C-Store, and being made exclusive rewards for 500 day vets.

The new Romulan suit is going straight to vet rewards. No Zen version will be available to my knowledge.

All of which I am not too keen on. But the devs are calling the shots, and they did it for whatever reason. They just saved me from spending money on the suits for my C.O.s and grinding for the away teams on my Federation characters, I guess. And too bad I won't see my Romulan in a Republic military issue EVA suit.

Like I said in another thread, you can't win 'em all.

Does the typo that has been fixed on the Quantum Singularity Manipulation (Rom Rep Cloak) now correctly state that it cloaks you immediately and increases your science skills by 100 for 3 seconds, rather than the stated 8 seconds and cloak after 3 seconds?

    Or was there another typo?

*edit* - Season 8 stuff looks like it will be really good fun :D
    "So my fun is wrong?"

No. Your fun makes everyone else's fun wrong by default.

If you for some reason have not pre-patched, I'd say between 5-6 giga. If you have pre-patched, expect it to be 500 Mb - 1giga. The last number are from previous experiences, but should be in the right ballpark.

    Hope this helps.

AFK penalty. I bet some folks that don't read the patch notes are gonna be mighty cheesed when it happens. And I will laugh a long, hearty laugh.

I'd like to point out that the UTC announcement on the website and the launcher is 1 hour off.

shutting down the account server and disabling logins well before maint even starts?

Did anyone else notice that the launcher had the incorrect UTC times on it for the maintenance period? 6AM PST = 2PM UTC, not 3PM... I was hoping I had another hour to sort out doff assignments to run through the update.

Thanks a lot for the 30, 15, 10 and 5 minute ingame warnings before server shutdown. It's always a joy. :)

Dont you just wish that half of maintenances would happen in US prime time instead of European time when people get home from work and school and are ready to start playing? Or perphaps in three times so that Asians are also given maintenance in the good time for them :)

It is after 3 pm in Paris. Most children are just getting out of school. Most adults are still at work. It is after 11 pm in Tokyo. Most children are in bed. Most adults should be thinking about bed as they have to work tomorrow. It is after 6 am in Los Angeles. Most children and adults are still in bed. Those not in bed are probably gearing up and heading off to work. Plus, as had been stated many times: cryptic chooses the maintenance time when their server data shows the least number of people are online.

I feel your pain, dude. I'm in Ireland myself so it's middle of the afternoon. But they have to do it at the time that is best for them. Price we pay for playing an mmo based in the states. It's always gonna inconvenience someone.

Well maintenance has to happen during office hours. Should anything go wrong they still have the better part of a day to fix it. And unless you wanna pay the entire Crytic crew more for working during the night (their families will thank you) it will always be like this. :D

    Stop QQing, seriously.

They start their maintenance usually first thing when their team gets into the office. If they did this in Asia Prime Time, they'd have to pay all their employees overtime for working 24-36 hours straight.
Said NO to Arc. Gets punished by not being given a free outfit, free lobi, and free shuttle. Now forced to use Arc's site when trying to get to STO site. Still not rewards for beta testing the Arc website by force. Bravo Cryptic.

..and in California, it's the start of a work day where the Cryptic staff can be present to monitor the servers and make sure nothing horribly catastrophic happens. It's also early enough to be able to perform emergency hotfixes if/as they're needed.

I sincerely doubt the time window is the way it is just to spite a demographic of the player base.

    Hey I'm a new player.

I have heard a bit about this game over the last couple of years but I heard bad things about it so I always gave it a miss. I saw an advert for the game again recently and thought what is the harm in trying?

I expected to be disappointed but instead I'm overwhelmed with how amazing this game is!

Both the space combat and the ground combat are better than I expected. The ground combat has actually grown on me now I figured out I can play it in FPS mode!

So I am itching to play some more but I see were down for updates and maintenance. That's still great.

To the Devs. working on this game, thank you! I have not enjoyed a Star Trek game this much since like Starfleet Armada, or Starfleet command way back in the day.

Awesome stuff! I love how so much lore has been incorporated too. Bloody Trekkies dream game! haha

By the way - Klingon (Gorn) warrior here! Die Federation and Romulan petaQ!

Gre'thor will be paved with their ashes!

Bran was up ~4 AM local time for the rollout today. First thing really does mean first thing on big patch day.
