I actually read it in a book about trek ship designs a long while back so im basing it off that .

anyways this is a game why does everyone get all uptight about a toy?
Because cryptic should make the ships as they should be.

If not, they should remove the "Star Trek" from their product and invent some sci fi univers on their own.

    Captains,

I am seeing a bit of flaming going on and a whole lot of posting off-topic here.

Please keep your posts on-topic and keep any flame-like comments to yourselves, thanks.

If you feel you are being flamed, PM me with a link to the offending post and I'll take care of it.

The topic, if I may help get things back on track, is requests for theoretically easy "to-dos" that could conceivably become reality in 2014.

New races for existing factions, new ships for existing factions, new items that don't require massive changes in game mechanics and user interfaces, are all examples of "realistic". Many kinds of bug-fixes are realistic. Radical redesigns of the game or adding systems and factions that don't already exist may not fit the definition of "realistic".

That said, I have no intention of being the judge of what's realistic or not and I will not tell anyone they can't post any game-related request they like.

Some of the stuff I'd like to see probably do not fall under the category of realistic in the short-term, so I won't list any of that.

I would like to see more KDF stuff, especially new uniform and off-duty costume options.

I would like for Romulan/Reman characters to be able to get Romulan/Reman BOFFs and DOFFs easier than now. Also, continuing to improve their ability to use stuff related to their aligned faction.

And, failing significant enhancements to the Foundry, MOAR storyline from Cryptic.

Short of the Negh'Var (cause I was flying mine earlier) I'd completely forgot about the Klingons, but yes, more uniforms would be greatly desired, and highly appreciated, I'm sure.

How about adding Ferengi costume options to the KDF Alien character template for those of us that want to create and run a Ferengi Captain that isn't aligned with the Federation.

YES, we have already SEEN what a Ferengi Looks like in Klingon Garb...

I'd like to see crafting overhauled.

    Not very realistic, I know.

There are Klingon civilians that presumably do not walk around in full armor. Be nice to be able to resemble one if you want. Even Worf did not always wear a uniform.

On the flip side, it would be cool if Starfleet Klingons had an option to include more Klingon armor and flourishes in their outfits.

Orions need a more expanded selection of decadent streetwear, too.

Totally agree with this one, crafting seems to be one area in MMO's that Cryptic never is able to make good enough for me to want to invest the time in it.

Crafting is a way to bring items into the game world and those items should be as diverse and as good as anything the game has to offer through any other means of acquiring them and that seems to be the thing most MMO developers don't get at all.

You know how when you are steering your spaceship with the mouse, and you go into reverse and the controls now are turning you in the opposite direction. I'd like to see you be able to toggle this off.

Some players have been asking for this for years, after all keyboard controls don't work in this way. That's my request for 2014. ( and 2013, 2012...!).

    Good idea.

I would like to see the tactical teams "shield distributing" ability on Engineering Team and Science team too. (TT gets a additional damage buff or something like that)

So Science and Engineering heavy ships wouldn't be so dependent on Tactical team. LINK

Another thing would be exchangeable bridge moduels as discussed HERE.

    1. I remember something mentioned once about 'Exploration' Rep - relating to the Star Cluster Colonization DOff Assignments and the Explore (Star Cluster) missions and dailies. I wouldn't mind seeing this put into action... though the question would be if it would be retroactive for characters who've completed Colonization chains...

    2. Someone mentioned ship bios earlier in the thread. I like that. It would give a sense of history to ships, not just "Oh, I leveled up, I get a new more powerful ship" - Maybe that Advanced Research Vessel you've just gotten really IS the U.S.S. Phoenix, NCC-65402 (well, 965402 in-game) that appeared in TNG: "The Wounded", or that Escort IS the Sabre-class U.S.S. Yeager that took part in the Battle of Sector-001 (ST: "First Contact")

    3. Following on from that, maybe give us a viewable Dedication Plaque on our bridges? It doesn't even have to be complicated, just ship name, class, 'stardate launched' (And I know the game can track that since it's in the Journal under messages or something like that). Just something like;
    "U,S.S. Star Trek Online
    Light Cruiser
    Launched Stardate 100001.1 (or whatever)"

    4. Maybe give the Romulan Republic the ability to recruit other Tau Dewa Block races as BOffs - Suliban and Acamarian have been mentioned, I think.

    5. Fix the catch with the KDF Lobi skirts that require boots to be worn, even if they're on an Orion character or BOff; basically locking any Orion female that wants to wear her sandals into pants or a loincloth.

    6. More DOff assignments and assignment chains. Sector Blocks like Psi Valorum, Alpha Centauri and such are so light on assignments compared to the ZA/UB/AT triad for anyone, Sirius Block (for KDF), Omega Leonis (for Fed) or Tau Dewa (for Romulans). Maybe some new chains or assignments that don't require items that you can only get in lockboxes?

    7. Better Romulan ship interiors, at least fix the Ready Room and give us a mess hall to display trophies in.
"If you can't take a little bloody nose, maybe you ought to go back home and crawl under your bed. It's not safe out here. It's wondrous, with treasures to satiate desires both subtle and gross; but it's not for the timid." -- Q, TNG: "Q-Who?"
^Words that every player should keep in mind, especially whenever there's a problem with the game...

The fact is, regardless of age (and with exception to the Constitution and Miranda) people can't run around here talking about realism. One person comments that the Galaxy Class is too old, yet there are people flying around in older D'Kora and Galor ships that are stronger. Furthermore, you've got Republic players in T'varro Birds of Prey; a design from the 22nd Century, so please, enough with the 'that ship is too old thus doesn't deserve a refit' BS. If a ship is a seller (or potential seller) there is a chance of it being made. There is potential for vast Galaxy sales, thus a potential for said ship to be made.

There is no argument against this.
Sales of yet another rehashed Galbartoss class would be massively dwarfed by sales of a T5 Constitution class or T5 Enterprise/Excalibur/Vesper/Exeter class ships. You know this to be true.

Also, it is entirely disingenuous to bring the KDF into this discussion as the devs have given the Klingons barely a nod to their existence since launch. Of course they're flying old looking ships. Cryptic hasn't given them any shiny new toys.

Regardless, Cryptic needs to stop living in Star Trek's past and move into the 25th century. How about if they give me a Star Cruiser skin for my odd looking Odyssey?

I know this to be true, yes, though we're suppose to believe that CBS have said no T5 Constitution, when they're fairly likely to say yes to another Galaxy (seeing as we already have a couple).

The Romulans then? A brand new Cryptic Faction, a brand new Trek Faction (Republic instead of Star Empire) and yet, they went with 22nd Century designs for Tier #1 and a Fleet Ship. Failed Logic.

An additional skin (or two) would be a welcome addition to both the Odyssey and Bortas.

Althrough i absolutely do NOT agree with you on a regular basis, i think the (original) star Cruisers are fairly underrepresented, especially since the Odyssey is supposed to be a Star Cruiser too.

So i think (if technically possible) they should allow us to use the various Star Cruiser ship Parts/Models on the Odyssey. (I would buy the 5000 ZEN 3-Pack right now)

They took another nostalgic trip down memory lane. I think the only problem with having the older ship exteriors in the lower tiers is that it establishes an expectation in a players mind that he should be flying a ship with the same appearance in the top tier. (Both you and yreodred suffer this malady. ;) )

The Star Cruiser was left as a poor man's ship after the Odyssey was introduced. The Fleet version is no better off. I think it is the best looking cruiser in Star Fleet, but it's stats leave it on the bench.

    Piloting from the bridge

Alert system (as was in the original STO, starfleet command I, II and III)

    Barrel rolls and loops

    1001 bugfixes

Start with carriers and the t5 ground sets

Then move on to the tailor, which yeah could be a 5 year project just fixing half letting it hang for so long now:

Liberate the tailor, let people combine how they see fit and fix all those clipping issues

No. 2 klingon outfit on the c-store might be appropiate at that time

More choice or marks added to missions.

    More useful loot added;

More incentive to play several different maps and

Find a way to revive ground along with it

Add, fix or revamp crafting, pvp and exploration

Galaxy variant or anything galaxy class ? no enough whining about the Galaxy its by the current timeline in STO an old design at the end of its life span so yes its exactly how an outdated design should be.

would like to see the cardis become a mini faction like the roms

It was stated during TNG by picard that the enterprise was the most powerful ship Starfleet had. How is it that the retrofit exelsior is powerful than it in STO? So please don't try to explain STO ship stats with logic because it doesn't apply. Same thing with galors. Galors had 20-30 year old equipment by starfleet standards but there they are the game as one of the best ships. Throw logic out the door while you're at it.

If you die in PvP you are automatically logged out and that character deleted along with everything attached to it.

    1. "Mr. Stahl, tear down these walls." - Remove all the sector block walls so I can autopilot from Sol to New Romulus without loading screens.

    2. New Orleans, Niagara, and Freedom class ships. We're nearing the end of canon ships, we can still make it to the finish line.

    3. More fleet ships.

    4. Unused art assets revealed before the PWE takeover. Unique species commbadges (like the IDIC commbadge and Liberated Borg commbadge we were shown). Ushaan-tor blades as revealed (requires new animations). Movable andorian antennae, etc.

    5. Playable Aenar Captains. We have the bridge officers already. Go the full distance and let us play Aenar captains.

    6. Reintroduction of playable species on the c-store. They don't need any special art assets, just different traits. Deltans, Risians, El-Aurians, and other human-looking alien species. It's less work if they don't need any special art assets.

    7. An overhaul of the public queue system that incorporates a server-side mechanic to prevent leeching and afking permanently instead of relying on GM support. It's clear what we currently have does not work.

    8. More minigames. Poker that you can play with either your bridge officers (A.I.) or other captains. Kal-Toh. Dom Jot.

    9. Romulan-specific melee weapon. We have Lirpas and Bat'leths. If you aren't going to introduce a variety of melee weapons due to animation issues, at least give the Romulans a melee weapon.

    10. Romulan-equivelant STF sets and Fed and KDF equivelants of the Romulan STF sets to provide perfect symmetry.

    11. More attack pets, like Sehlats.

    12. More ways to acquire valuable duty officers that were retired from previous packs.

    13. More ways to acquire fleet marks.

    14. More ways to acquire refined dilithium.

    15. More uses for gold-pressed latinum.

    16. More uses for data samples.

    17. Salt Vampire warfare specialists.

    18. Bug fixing, bug fixing, bug fixing, bug fixing.

    19. Breen EVA suits.

    20. The ability to punch other STO players in the face through a standard TCP/IP connection.

    1) Boff race spacial traits revamp - it'd be nice if there were good options besides Romulan traits, and a variety of them too. There was a thread floating around a bit back with some great ideas relating to this.

    2) Science: make party healing/cleansing actually relevant again, or at the very least give science captains more teeth - especially when flying SCIENCE vessels. It's shameful that you can stick a Tac in a science vessel and watch that character do at least 30-50% more DPS (being somewhat conservative) than a Sci.

For example, giving sci captains an automatically boosted aux cap when flying a science vessel, and providing access to a range of aux-based weaponry - whilst it might not bring a Sci up to the same output level as a Tac, it at least gives Sci captains a leg-up in the right direction.

    3) A decent endgame science vessel option for Romulans definitely wouldn't go amiss.

    4) A revamp of currently pointless/useless doff powers, and importantly the nerfing of the A2B/technician combo in some way.

That is entirely unrealistic. Fantasy even.

Not only has Starfleet moved on from the Galbatross to the Sovereign, Starfleet has also moved on from the Sovereign to the Odyssey. If you're flying a hand-me-down Galbatross then you need to realize that Starfleet wants you to retire as much as they want to decommission your ship.

Perhaps you would enjoy life in a nice little senior citizens' community on Risa?

If you have a Vice Admiral, create your own "fleet". Promote your own BO's to various commands on ships you have available. Once they are assigned they can be treated as an entity like your duty officers.

Im still wanting to breed targs

Different career paths, pirate, criminal, etc.

choice of perma death everywhere possible. I would like to do that, if I had the choice not to also.

As a Klingon, in line with my first wish, you can create a "fleet" or "house".

    remove borders in sector space

increase level cap to 100. Why? Just because I miss leveling my main toon.
