I have to agree. Older ships are sadly way outdated and underpowered in comparison to ships like this. And that includes older C-Store ships.
Every ship large enough to have it's own shuttlebay should get a hangar slot with an appropriate shuttlecraft in it. There's no reason not to, anymore.
I've long advocated against the Defiant getting battle cloak, but with all of this power creep I no longer see any reason why it shouldn't -- along with every other KDF ship. At least everything in the C-Store and every Fleet version.
We desperately need a "retuning" pass on older C-Store ships to make them worth flying.
Well said!
"It's only logical!" as Spock would say. An upgrade-round for C-Store ships would be good for us, obviously; and Cryptic would get to sell more ships. Win-win, methinks.
So far, I'm generally enjoying the retro Ar'kif. The boff layout gives the option to be tactically quite strong or safer/more well rounded. There are clear downsides to either, which prevents the competent if somewhat dull Ha'feh from being totally marginalized.
Overall I'm finding the play to be more interesting and meaty, and the hangar bay just adds to that. It's something of an odd ship, arguably an unnecessary misfit, but in the end I decided that it would be more fun to grind T5x3 rep in the Ar'kif than any variant of the Ha'feh. I do have a couple unopened lockbox ships, but putting a Reman in something without a battle cloak makes little sense.
HOWEVER: unfortunately, it seems that about half the time when engaging the Focused Singularity Beam, it will fire briefly--two to five seconds--before ceasing to fire and going into cooldown. Singularity charge is full, I'm facing forward, not turning, enemy is large/slow/stationary, and yet it disengages almost immediately. That's a real problem.
seeing as you added an hanger to this ship how about adding 1 to the fed/kdf quad cannon ship :P , failing that please hurry with the set bonus that was mentioned
I've also noticed on occasion that the FSB will cut out randomly, in the middle of firing, when singularity is still far from depleted. The thing has a mind of its own.
Given the careful timing involved in getting your singularity up to coincide with the FSB's cycle to unleash this on a target at just the right moment in an engagement, having it fail or give out midway through is really painful. A three minute cooldown = two to four times per STF. We should be able to count on it every one of those times.

wouldnt work as neither of those ships are large enough for a hanger bay.....even if they were it doesnt make sense on either of them
I find this line of replies sadly hilarious. We put a lot of work into the massive list of fixes/changes above, and ya'll are hung up on the ability to skip our content. =p
I was thinking of purchasing this ship as a match to my defiant and b'rel but this power curve is ridiculous. They need to update the old ships or nerf the current rom ships. There is so much unbalance in the game with fed used to be on top and kdf on bottom, now the roms way above even the fed and kdf scrapping the barrel. I mean really the b'rel fleet only has 3 tact consoles give it 4 or 5.
I refuse to buy any more products or services until end game ships are re-balanced. The Scimitar-Odyssey-Bortasque being all of equal status and the Cruisers/Sci ship brought inline with escorts. This game has lost its direction and I can hardly call it Star Trek. I wish everyone would stop buying from STO until STO devs are replaced or announce AND Implement changes.
I don't know what it is about this ship. Three times in a row on ISE I've found myself limping to the right cube as it's nearly been destroyed by my teammates. Full impulse/evasive maneuvers/cloak/warp shadows, doesn't matter. The gate pulls me out, pounds on me, and I use up everything I have just to get by it. It's hard to tell what my pets are doing at any given moment, but I think they're seriously pissing it off, despite my best efforts to keep them from shooting at it on the way past.
This is my first experience with a carrier, and wow are pets stupid. I try to recall them before large things explode, but I've come to expect that when something large does go down, they're probably going with it, because, ya know, why bother moving just slightly out of range of epic explosions when there's so much glory to be found inside of them.
I'm watching the Focused Singularity Beam's timer intently, and it still shuts off whenever it feels like it, about half the time. I've only had one instance where the beam disengaged because a target left its arc, when a teammate pushed Donatra out of it.
Overall still doing decent DPS for a cobbled-together, low-rep alt build, but boy can it be messy and disappointing.
I'm truly hoping this isn't the wave of the future.
I bought this ship prior to the update, though I used my stipend and dil to do so. Still, I thought it'd be an interesting fly, and it is. I was almost disappointed to see the hanger added, and it makes me wonder if I should have saved my stipend/dil.
Originally ships with hangers where KDF only, and they pretty much dominated. It would wreck my day to jump into a PVP match and see 2 or more carriers, but then the Feds started getting carriers. Then the escort carrier came out. Now the Roms get 2 carries inside of a few weeks, and people are asking for more FED ships to have carriers.
Why don't we just rename this game Star Carriers Online, or something similar... honestly I'd prefer they carried had been left off of this Rom ship. I doubt I'll use the little buggers, but I'm sure anyone else who has this ship will use them. Ah well...
That concept is in no way supported by any of the series. I can't think of any episode where Picard, Sisko, Kirk or Janeway shouted "Oh no, we're under attack! quick, launch those nigh-defenceless shuttles with the most expendable crew we can find!"
The closest examples being Runabout support in DS9 and Delta Flyer parades in VOY. But in both cases, that's an independent, warp capable ship acting independently.
Well, not quite. I don't remember if Picard ever sent out shuttles into combat, but Riker did at least once. DS9 did use them for defense and Sisko probably would've done it but I'm not sure if the Defiant even has a shuttlebay, technically speaking. I can think of plenty of times he would've thrown a kitchen sink out an airlock if he could've gotten it to blow up. ;D
And in game-terms, nearly all of our hangar craft are "independent, warp capable ships".
