I changed clothes a few times while hopping around Risa in the Rental and Superior (Blue) Floaters. Every "Uniform" outfit I tried had a successful display of my pack, every "Off Duty" outfit I tried failed (including the Ferengi Merchant's Jacket, Mercenary set, and Black Tie Formal (Considering the "Casino Royale-feel" of the locale, I was really bummed I couldn't imitate a "Jet Pack Bond" look )) with the exception of the Romulan Senate Robe, which worked.

I managed to get the Bond look - rather Thunderball-esque!

I too have wanted Rocket Boots in STO.

CO has Rocket Boots, so why not STO?

I can only guess that when CBS and Paramount split the Star Trek IP up that Paramount holds the IP to "Rocket Boots" since they were only seen in the Star Trek movies (Star Trek V)

    http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Levitation_boots

Oh and seems they are actually called Levitation Boots. I still like saying Rocket Boots though.

    Glad you like it!

Just as an aside, I had nothing to do with the Floaters.
Think of it this way. Environment guys don't have anything to do with making/having a baby. But we have to do all of the work to baby proof the house.

Would it be possible for the map and the racing to remain after the event with just the racing for say GPL as a daily or something?

    ...Thanks for giving me that...
Oh, and someone in PM'd me in game with a work around. Alas, I didn't take note of the name, so I can't give credit. They apparently saw my post about Off Duty outfits (like the Formal Wear) not displaying the jetpack. To make it work, you have to save that outfit. If it's already saved, create it again in another slot and save it there (feel free to use the previous slot for something else). Ugly/stoopid work around, but it does work. I'm doing my best James Bond impression now.

Check out one or more of Taco's recent posts. He explains why. CO is a super hero game and was created with flying heroes in mind. STO was not thusly created. I takes a lot of work to make a map "Flying Player Proof", and I imagine it's even more work if they have to go back and retro an already existing map. So while we get Risa, and maybe in the future we'll get another new map or two, that allow for Floater (or Lev Boots) use, but they'll never go back and retrofit all the existing maps.

You can find/contact me in game as @PatricianVetinari. Playing STO since Feb 2010.

The Jet Packs and their implementation are an utter joy, it inspires exploration and it is this gamer's hope that they will be implemented in other places.

Let me echo a few things here for the devs to chew on:

    1) I'd love to see more places that can use the jetpacks. Risa is a great start!

    2) I realize it will take a while to make even 1 new map. I'd hope that we can see a planet revised to use a Floater, perhaps New Romulus with a Floater as a Store unlock for getting Tier 1 Romulan Rep.

    3) If it's too much trouble for the devs to make a new map or retrofit an old one, perhaps Risa can stay around with different rewards. The daily for the Corvette's pearls could instead be a GPL challenge as someone said. Horga'hn hunting could be for EC. The dance competition could incorporate new dance emotes as rewards, etc.

    4) I think the player base in general loves these and hopes the devs will do more, either with the summer event map or on a new or revamped map.

Doing it reminds me of Sean Connery as Bond at the start of Thunderball with the jetpack and a similar scene in the remake "Never Say Never Again".

On the subject of Bond it also had me thinking why not have an STO version of Extra Vehicular Activity (EVA) based combat in the atmosphere of a planet or in space as a change from ground combat or spacecraft combat. A bit like the laser battle scene in Moonraker.

I would just like to echo others and say that the environment is fantastic. It is truly beautiful and being able to zip around it faster than your character can run is awesome.

The costume pieces could use a little clip proofing, but other than that, I've been totally satisfied with Risa, happily hunting horga'hns and raising budgies all day :) Several of my characters have the beach outfits and flower accents, and I love the portable disco balls :D

not Jet Packs Online...more like Star Queue Online...there isn't any "TREK" left in Start Trek  " why trek there, just join a queue "

remember, the journey is half the fun

in fact, why not add " Epoh Tagging " to the queue of things to do....
"buying a subscription to STO is a lot like feeding pigeons, you give them food, they give you.......well you know"

The game is a bleeping joke, I was expecting a decent summer event and this is the rubbish we get. I do not play this game to enjoy myself. Bitterly disappointed

Why the hell are you playing this game if not to enjoy yourself? Im speechless at such a ludicrous comment.

Wow. So why DO you play a game? Games are usually meant for people to enjoy themselves. Ah . . . you play it so you can find an excuse to rage like an Emo . . . Well, you succeeded on that part at least :)

Oh hell yeah! "Be one with the mountain, Captain" "Spock if you don;t stop pestering me I'm liable to be one with the . . . AIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE . . . "

Do not quote me exactly on that. I don;t have a script handy, so it was a rough guess of the convo. But nonetheless . . . boots would be awesome :)

As for the OP . . . aye I love the packs. They are awesome. Managed to earn the superior packs for 5 of my characters now. Just 2 more characters and my set is done (yeah, yeah, I don;t have 20+ characters like everyone else does. That's what I get for being a casual player with a job LOL)

What cues are long at lvl 50? The PvP cues take a while lately (cues with 35 ppl cues take 10 min???) even when overly full, minetrap and other 20 player ones might due to NEEDING 20 ppl, and perhaps a couple others. Just wondering which ones you are hinting at...

And yeah, might as well add tagging [great idea!] and while theyre at it, dil mining (I know its not a team venture), and hey; KER'RAT to the cues! Anything that has us flying accross the galaxy on a daily basis thanks to our Grindmaster Overlords might as well be cuable unless the sole purpose is to waste our time traveling.

Hold tight necro-posting. A fair few need their sarcasm detectors repaired. I've enjoyed buzzing about on jetpacks on Risa, and the corvette.

They've stated on several occasions that the new Risa map will replace the old one.

Therefore, you no longer need that "" emoticon, so I have removed it from your post. :D
