a bop alfa envolves more than 1 weapon and a fully commited build, and those mines did more than 100k if you want to know
dont Forget the free hold and the free disable without having to spec and almost no skills to resist the dmg, why people still think these mines are ok ? my only explanation is that those people can only get kills with those mines, oh wait, it doesnt even count as a kill lol
dispersal patterns will increase the stun and disable as well, you are talking about these mines but it looks like you havent tested them yet
Sci (Buffs/Debuffs) & Eng (PvE Tank) were designed for other roles.
Here you are wrong. It is clearly stated (http://sto.perfectworld.com/about/factions : "Customize the appearance, weapons and equipment on your ship to fit your playstyle!" "It's your ship. Your crew. Your choice.") that there is no defined role in this game either by design or intent specific to profession. The design and intent was and is that any profession can specialize in any role they prefer. That is why there are medic kits, and offensive kits, and stun/hold kits on the ground. That is why any profession can fly any ship type. That is why there are many different BO abilities for science, not just the ones that fit your narrow view. (http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showpost.php?p=11332661&postcount=32 : another science player who believes science can do damage, see last sentence.) True, most science BO abilities have been nerfed so bad as to be useless because players hate to be held/disabled. I have been playing this game since beta with no breaks and played all professions. I am very experienced in PvP, both ground and space, so preach your trinity gospel to someone else.
"We" are tired of people who think they speak for all eng or sci.
My eng that uses carriers and cruisers would be better off with these mines gone or fairly balanced. My sci doesn't use these either because my sci ship doesn't have enough tac stations to make mines useful, so neither my sci or eng lose anything if the mines are nerfed.
My tac that uses escorts and BOP hasn't died to these yet, my eng who shouldn't be able to die without snb and heavy focus fire was rendered helpless by these due to being in a much slower ship and ended up dying to these mines which were dropped by a dispersal pattern only an escort can slot. Given my experience in dropping mines cloaked with a brel, I'm sure I could also get a lot of easy kills with my tac but I refuse to use these mines as I consider them bugged so using it would be an exploit to me.
Sci ships are an even easier victim when they get hit by these mines given how low their hull is. This is a weapon abused by ships with high manuverability and the ability to slot high dispersal patterns, mostly escorts and BOP.
I play all 3 classes and various ship types regularly and can say from experience that this is just something that lets tacs and any class in an escort like ship get kills far to easily against non escort ships, which tend to be captained by eng and sci. Unless you do pve only, its in your own interest as eng or sci to want these mines properly balanced unless they only use escorts.
Then read my post next time. I actually agreed with reducing the benefit from dispersal patterns and tac buffs as these are the real problem. (post # 93 : http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showpost.php?p=11320481&postcount=93) I also note how these are not OP for engineers and science as we have no dispersal patterns or tac buffs on our ships. I speak for all engineers and science as all of us do not have tac buffs. I speak for all who do not use dispersal patterns as none of us have dispersal patterns. The base mines could actually use a buff as they are all but useless in their natural state. The problem, as usual, is the tac escorts OP buffing abilities, which was clearly stated in my earlier posts. I even agreed that the disable/stun could be removed and just allow them to hold and damage the ship. (post # 100: http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showpost.php?p=11322231&postcount=100) But to nerf them to be balanced for a tac escort by just reducing damage and eliminating all hold effects hurts the other two professions and makes the weapons scrap.
Responding to a post without reading it makes no sense.
After this mornings ridiculous web-mine cheese-fest in ker'rat, TRIBBLE it, i'm going to load these as well.
it would be faster ,easier and more fair if cryptic would equip ships for us .I mean they already put the best consoles in fleets so even a idiot can equip a ship ,all the cheese sheet is used by everyone so why allow custom ship builds when cryptic made the game for 1 build.

I did and where I disagree is that you think having the mines nerfed will be a hit to eng and sci. Like you said you aren't using them with tac buffs and DPB anyway, so you really don't get much out of these so lose little if the mines are nerfed. Escort type ships however are using them to get kills far to easy on ships that tend to be piloted by sci and eng like cruisers and carriers, so nerf to those mines will overall benefit eng and sci unless you don't pvp at all.
OK, retested web mines and sci team DOES'NT reduce, or clear the stun duration. However the hold effect is countered by APO and restores mobility. Polarize Hull might also counter the hold. More testing needed.
There is nothing wrong with him using synergy in his attacks to get a kill. Being a sci/sci doesn't mean the only thing I'm good for is flying around you and holding your nuts until you yell you need a sub nuc to kill a cruiser. There needs to be more to sci then healing or playing sidekick to tact escorts.
Are you sure you can apo while in the web mine? seems like every ability is greyed out.
A misleading, pointless and staged video. Which I have already seen before but thanks for reposting it. Heck, even after being staged, the cruiser still didn't get one-shot. The practical value of this clip is zero since no PvPer in their sound mind would just sit there for your mines to hit.
It doesn't matter.. still or moving, that cruiser can still get hit with webmines since they are cloaked and you can't see them until 2-3km... Once hit, it will stop their target anyway, grey out all his powers except sci team and APO and kill or nearly kill the target
The cruiser did get one shot and so did the JHAS at the end. I know you didn't watch the entire video or you would have seen the two 1-shots.
Therefore, your argument is not valid

uh...thanks for reconfirming that these mines can't one-shot people or being compared to BoP Alpha. The Captain may be Sci but the ships are not. 90% of my kills are never hit with mines, as was the case today in Kerrat except one Recluse.
You are using 1 op weapon to guarantee a kill by another op weapon that needs to be fixed soon, the cluster. And yes they can't 1 shot my eng in a Fleet Voquv, but I think the damage I took from just that would 1 shot many other ships that don't have quite as much hull if they got caught in it.
All of this is cryptic's fault. the 2 BO 1 shot.. the web mines, the transphasic mines.. why even use torps anymore. Shields hardly get lowered anyway.. why not just bypass them. Cryptic is killing PvP on purpose

T'ommo, a Klingon often found in Kerrat started to mine the spawn/reset point with web mines yesterday. In one case, I and 2 other Fed ships were caught in it at reset. Note, T'ommo used DPB3 and spread them many times so there were countless of mines scattering around, no ones know exactly how many. The other two fed ships died on the spot, mine survived. You know how I got out?
My hull is down to 19% and still trapped by the time I finally have control after reset. All my buttons were greyed out except Eng Team. I immediately hit it, which started to repair my hull and removes the stunt. Almost immediately, the Singularity Core comes back online, so I hit Quantum Absorption to prevent further damage. Then I noticed, the greyed out APO button is also back online, so I hit it and immediately broke free.
At the end of the day, I killed T'ommo 5 times and didn't die even once to him or any other Klingon who are becoming way too soft and easy. Heck, I even nailed Julius, the elusive BoP once. T'ommo got so frustrated with the low hit % of his web mines that he eventually switched out the boff with DPB. Suffice to say, most of his kills were his other weapons, not the mines.
On my end, of the countless Klingons I killed yesterday in Kerrat, only one was ever hit by the mines - a slow moving Recluse. Even then, it was not the mines that killed him.
No one is buying your staged video. It's completely out of touch with reality. Show us how that can done in a real pvp with high hit rate and all the buffs timed perfectly, then you may have a point. As someone who has been using it for a while, and have since remove DPB from boff skills, I know it's almost impossible to time the buffs exactly when you need them. The reason being these mines are my only weapon which are not on auto-fire. I only launch them at the most opportunistic timing I can see, which may not come every 30 sec, sometimes longer. But that exact timing may come while my APO is on CD or my ambush bonus has already expired. I can't wait or I'll miss the chance completely. And if you are running with DPB/A, the power activation countdown timer will further TRIBBLE the visual vis-?-vis your mines' own CD timer, making you unable to determine whether the mines are ready to be fired or not.
There are many practical challenges in using these mines that only people who have been practicing with them can understand. It's difficult for these to be OP as a result. The web mines can be described as boom or bust. If these mines were doff missions, they have about 80% chance of failure, 15% chance of success and 5% chance of critical success. The whole premise of whiners in this thread is that tiny 5% of chance that these mines will go nuts demand them to be nerfed ignoring the fact that they don't do nearly as much damage on average due to the high miss %. You can't count on them when you need it the most.
I did and where I disagree is that you think having the mines nerfed will be a hit to eng and sci. Like you said you aren't using them with tac buffs and DPB anyway, so you really don't get much out of these so lose little if the mines are nerfed.
I lose whatever they are nerfed by. I want to use them, not nerf them into uselessness just to keep tac/escorts from using them. This is my problem. The same thing happened with so many weapons, they are OP for tac/escorts but fine for the rest, so they get nerfed, now nobody uses them. That kills variety and fun. I state again that tac buffs are the problem as they limit the system far too much and prevent everyone else from having anything but inferior weapons as tacs will OP anything else.
T'ommo here. You forgot to mention the 2 Feds who don't even fly the map in kerrat some times and just sit at the spawn mining it to kill the kdf at spawn. You also forgot that it was not just you but 3-4 other Feds who killed me :P. oh and dp3 pops 8 mines and you can drop 2 more normally for a max of 10, if you pop again the first set vanish.
So what else should I use? I don't have any energy weapon, so in your opinion, I should just be a floating "pleasure boat in space"? Using your definition, all my weapons are OP and should be nerfed. In Kerrat, I can't get over how many moaning I get from Klink for using - god forbidden, Transphasic Torpedos. But many were convinced these low yield torps are useless - only to be killed by them.
Funny enough, Cluster Torp is quite commonly seen, but I have not been hit by it let alone killed by one as far as I can remember. I usually just shrug when someone fired one at me. You know why? A pistol can't kill on its own, much of it depends on its user. Half of the time, it's fired by someone who think they have an OP weapon but did not spec for it so their damage is poor to begin with. Other times, they don't know a slow moving torp that can be destroyed isn't going to do much as a stand-alone vehicle but that's exactly that they will do - fire that one single slow moving torp at you while you are pursing them. I can't help them if they are stupid.
If there is anything that needs to be nerfed, it's DHC. The DHC has killed far more than all torpedo combined and is the main reason why not many PvEers will not do PvP. All they need is to see how DHC just pew pew them within seconds that they will not touch PvP if they can help it. In fact, I think I should start a new thread on this.
T'ommo here. You forgot to mention the 2 Feds who don't even fly the map in kerrat some times and just sit at the spawn mining it to kill the kdf at spawn.
Ah Ellen & Pop, love them! They are god send! One has a ship name of : "Klinks stink" lololol, so true. Too bad they weren't there when I was on last night, I like to park besides them and watch them mine and spread warp plasma all over.
You also forgot that it was not just you but 3-4 other Feds who killed me :P.
uh...it was Kerrat, you know what that place means. I don't know about the others but I was specifically hunting you just as you were doing exactly the same trying to trail my pets, which I eventually stop spawning them so that you can't follow. But I am going to get some new super nasty pets today, I'd love to see you trailing them... Oh, and I have routinely been gang up by battlegroup of 5+ Klingons, after I attract enough aggro their evil empire. Learn to survive in that.
oh and dp3 pops 8 mines and you can drop 2 more normally for a max of 10, if you pop again the first set vanish.
Never used dpb3 with web mines, good to know. With regular mines, like Ellen & Pop, their mines don't disappear and will stay as long as their lifespan allows.

Its not tac buffs, so much, but escorts and other ships able to slot high level dispersal patterns. one of the main abusers of these is a Rom sci in this thread using escorts.
So what else should I use? I don't have any energy weapon, so in your opinion, I should just be a floating "pleasure boat in space"?

compare web mines to other mines, no other mines do as much as this does, some stun, slow, disable, or do high damage, this does it all, how is that fair, use tranphasic mines instead.
Ah Ellen & Pop, love them! They are god send! One has a ship name of : "Klinks stink" lololol, so true. Too bad they weren't there when I was on last night, I like to park besides them and watch them mine and spread warp plasma all over.

I will show you some love, Julius. Except, I have to always watch my back when you are around, like yesterday when hunting Dan Verde almost got myself ambushed by you!
Since then, I got some Yellowstone Runabouts, each with Tractor Beam 3 and eject warp plasma. Tested against a couple of BoP in Kerrat already, one was caught straight out of cloak while doing one of those cloaked torp run, then decimated seconds later. The other tried to torpedo spread all of 4 them, except that did like 1% of hull damage to the pets... Should you try to approximate my position based on where they are, hehehe, mind the tractors...
they have twice the damage of tricobalt mines, since they can instapop anyone ONLY with the 50% bleed
they will hold you for 4 or 5 seconds WITHOUT speccing on anything, apo, aux to damp or ph WONT work
you can be damaged while you are held, it means that if the mines wont kill you, dhcs will
since it is physical damage. kinetic resistance buffs wont work, only "all damage resistance " buffs
that means, that engineer consoles wont work on them too
these mines are not op ! dont nerf them !!!!!

I'm really trying to see a difference in his hud and tray icons, but I'm not seeing any. It looks like the standard federation palette to me. I think you might be mistaken.
Power icons are now color coded based on category:
Class powers: Science, Tactical, or Engineering
Item powers: console/set bonus
Innate/Captain powers
Singularity power
Travel power

I will show you some love, Julius. Except, I have to always watch my back when you are around, like yesterday when hunting Dan Verde almost got myself ambushed by you!
Since then, I got some Yellowstone Runabouts, each with Tractor Beam 3 and eject warp plasma. Tested against a couple of BoP in Kerrat already, one was caught straight out of cloak while doing one of those cloaked torp run, then decimated seconds later. The other tried to torpedo spread all of 4 them, except that did like 1% of hull damage to the pets... Should you try to approximate my position based on where they are, hehehe, mind the tractors...
nice use of a TRIBBLE interface and use of a live combat logger is a violation of the TOS.
Where did you see a TRIBBLE interface and a live combat logger? I've played the video 4 times and I'm not seeing anything.
Looks like the standard interface to me, and what do you mean a live combat logger? the game logs combat by itself and a parser for the combat log is not a violation of the TOS
ETA ah, I see someone else already replied while I was double-checking the video
thats not the standard hud. look at the tray icons. TRIBBLE was a BAD choice of words, more like color modded.
I'm really trying to see a difference in his hud and tray icons, but I'm not seeing any. It looks like the standard federation palette to me. I think you might be mistaken.
Color modded? My Fed icons look like that ever since LoR came through.

See?
That's weird. Maybe you have a different UI setting.

Back to topic:
There is no need to fix nukara web mines and there is no broken PvP gameplay. It is a little bit unbalanced but not broken. Join PvP bootcamps and learn more about playing against other players.
There are some issues making PvP looks as if it would be broken:
=/\= Fleet Marshal - Lag Industries - PvP/PvE gameplay
Where caution is thrown to the wind, torpedos are thrown at Klingons and the
finger is thrown to anyone trying to put holes in our ships! -Lag Industries-
Try learning a little more about the game would you? Hit F12 next time you're logged in, it'll be an education for you.....
