Yeah dude, it makes a whole lot less sense than going out and blowing 30 bucks at a theater, 50 bucks at a restaurant, and then 20 bucks on gas! Makes a WHOLE LOT LESS SENSE! Everyone is a bunch of crazies for enjoying gaming, general nerdery, and all things internet. Sorry I don't go out and pay O'Charleys fifty bucks for what I can do from Aldi for eight! Now I don't RP or anything. I just go about my business as normal in the game. I am not going to argue whether this behavior is going on in game or not. If there is a chance it is, it should be looked into by the game team.
However, I find that ignoring works. If you can't ignore them...than do something like this! AKA> Yell something nonsense right at them and than go back to your roleplay. It is possible to make them play their game by your rules and people like this HATE that.

This directly relates to, but is not limited to the useage of Party Amplifiers in STFs and other "General population" gameplay. The continual usage by one or more players of devices such as Fire Extinguishers, Party poppers, and other like devices directly towards another player or players for an extended amount of time with the sole purpose of "griefing" or negatively affecting other players from enjoying the game. The practice of escalating such behavior and/or following another player or players to different locations or instances when asked to desist in such behavior that is rightfully regarded as being against the TOS, but negatively affecting another player or players experience in the game.
I posted the appropriate sections of the Terms of Service both for PWE/Cryptic games/services and also the section for the forums, nit because I intended to nit-pick the entire thing, or point out abuses on both sides of the coin as it where, but because I think we all need a reminder of exactly what is what.
To be perfectly upfront and honest we all know the organization (I say organization because it comprises of 2-3 in-game fleets, but is the same group) that's being referred to in this thread. There's no logical reason to dance around the facts here.
To make a point I'm going to mention a specific user, and if he so asks I'll remove this section of the post, but I think it's important to the overall purpose of my post. Nabreeki and I have definitely not seen eye to eye on certain things, and as I'm sure some of you know we've have some mud flinging back and fore a few times. We've also had times where we've really communicated well together in trying to devise different ways the game could be made better, and he's really provided some very useful and constructive feedback on some of my ideas.
I do agree that some of the activities of this specific organization and others needs to be toned down and completely stopped when asked by the effected players. I also agree that in some instances the reaction to some activities has been overwhelmingly excessive as well.
One of the most fundamental aspects of the very core of Star Trek is mutual cooperation for the betterment of all. While we have Terms of Service as an outline for acceptable behavior, we shouldn't be running to it every time some does something we don't like. Instead we should be talking a page from Star Trek's philosophy and diplomatically defusing situations in a civilized manner, and then and only then if that's not possible then invoke some 3rd party help from a GM.
One thing I don't remember seeing in all of the posts throughout the forums has been what polite attempts have people made in asking these individuals to cease their actions and their response. Maybe it's because I'm 32 and grew up in a time when if you had a problem with someone it was handled one on one, no BS, no weapons, no gang-ups, just two people settling up in whatever manner, and then it was done, forgotten, moved on from, and fixed.

To make a point I'm going to mention a specific user, and if he so asks I'll remove this section of the post, but I think it's important to the overall purpose of my post. Nabreeki and I have definitely not seen eye to eye on certain things, and as I'm sure some of you know we've have some mud flinging back and fore a few times. We've also had times where we've really communicated well together in trying to devise different ways the game could be made better, and he's really provided some very useful and constructive feedback on some of my ideas.
I do agree that some of the activities of this specific organization and others needs to be toned down and completely stopped when asked by the effected players. I also agree that in some instances the reaction to some activities has been overwhelmingly excessive as well.
One of the most fundamental aspects of the very core of Star Trek is mutual cooperation for the betterment of all. While we have Terms of Service as an outline for acceptable behavior, we shouldn't be running to it every time some does something we don't like. Instead we should be talking a page from Star Trek's philosophy and diplomatically defusing situations in a civilized manner, and then and only then if that's not possible then invoke some 3rd party help from a GM.

Well Mr. gamer, had you even the most basic reading comprehensions skills, you would have been able to parse the fact that 1) Ms. Park's name was dropped once, and used in a wholly descriptive fashion, and 2) Said descriptive usage was a direct reference to a member of these forums equating private role-playing to segregation of race. Well Mr. gamer, had you even the most basic reading comprehensions skills, you would have been able to parse the fact that 1) Ms. Park's name was dropped once, and used in a wholly descriptive fashion, and 2) Said descriptive usage was a direct reference to a member of these forums equating private role-playing to segregation of race. Of course, instead of reading those and understanding the usage of the words, you simply latched onto it as an avenue of attack in aid of your agenda. It is, in fact, you, sir, that does a disservice to the individual in question by attempting to use mention of her name as ammunition for your hatred and defamation.
And for the record, the answer to your question is yes - being healthy, sane individuals with a sense of perspective and basic comprehension skills does wonders for our recruitment.

Not only are we a part of the best roleplaying fleet in STO but we don't have fleet members losing the plot if a game device is deployed which has no negative effects.
