Not too bad at all especially when you consider the fact that it has a passive console that enables shields while cloaked.

The one closer to me is a Falchion, the other is a Scimitar

Thanks for the great screen shot, but those are the exact same ship. They are both the original scimitar, there are screen shots of the falchion floating around though.

I was there with you :), but more importantly I got to meet one of the persons testing. I respect them as they were on testing that ship. That's cool, I wish it was Open testing, but I hold that against the Dev's. Anyway, yes it is an impressive ship with a Wide array of useful features. I have now set aside the money to purchase one. Also, this thread is primarily for persons that have not gained access to one and wish to share their observations in a Feed Back manner.

Although I think that any game of CSE and ISE with you would have been fun, Scimi or no Scimi.

    Likewise, and Thanks. :)

It was a couple of fun runs and I can only hope Cryptic listens to the feedback the testers give. I have to say I left with a few more questions than I went in with seeing what it could do and reading back combat log data, but out of respect for the testers and their NDA I won't go and say too much.

Also a couple of screenies from New Rom orbit I thought I would share.

I hope many a bug pilots get to experience this and go splat. :D

I've seen a couple around. I also agree this should have been a more open test. To be perfectly honest, I understand why you need to sign an NDA (I did it with beta for STO) when testing some new stuff, but I don't see why you couldn't just have an NDA agreement required before picking up a Scimitar (like how you have to agree to the Foundry EULA before creating content or agree to Foundry reviewing rules before reviewing). Focus testing can be useful, but there are few enough testers on regularly as it is. It is disappointing to not be able to test those new ships, especially for avid testers. Hopefully, we'll get to see this before it hits holodeck in more than just a focus group.

The consoles have been leaked as well. They look ok, but the secondary shielding one is bad. 15 thousand temporary shields aren't going to help anyone unless healing works on them too.

Yeah, hopefully they change it to a passive secondary shield system... Even one with 25% capacity would be better than a ~40 second OMFG help shield that probably has a 3 minute CD.

We are on the same wavelength here, and I think it should be closer to that of the bortas and oddy in testing. Then all the bugs and balancing gets out of the way before it hits the holodeck. And as for the issue it might create with sales, If you are trying to sell a product and you aim to trick you target market into buying this product by not sharing what it is. Then you might as well not sell the product, because you will only sell it once.

All I must know to put my mind to ease is whether or not the thalaron is a 3-peice console bonus, I certainly hope not, that would be cruel to have to get the entire 3-pack for >_<.

It is. And it's fair, I think -- if you want a special attack that's that awesome, Cryptic wants you to shell out the full $50 for it (or whatever the price ends up being).

I dont believe it would be a wise idea to give a carrier an ability that could do anything above 30k damage instantly. Even with a four minute cool down, its still remarkably easy to disable an opponent, hold them in place for 12 seconds, and laugh as they get one shotted by the scimitar off the port bow. As it stands the other consoles are insane. Firing while cloaked? Shielded while cloaked? Plus its a carrier, which means fleet danubes or fleet interceptors to permanently hold someone in place long enough to sit there and charge up your giant freaking laser. No, this is a bad idea, its a bad idea in the first place to even have the pulse weapon, all I see coming out of this is cheese builds.

Based on the video and the timing between the launch of the 2 drones it looks like there is only 1 hangar bay. The first drone is launched at 6:06 the second at 6:31. So unless the player just wasn't paying attention it looks like 1 hangar bay.

Good point, I think there might however be a version that is a true carrier. Not sure though.

Scimitar information from Podcast UGC summed up:

    Three-pack in the C-Store.

    Scimitar IS the Romulan carrier.

Scimitar is far and away the biggest playable ship in the game.

    Tactical, Engineering, and Science variants

    FIVE FORE WEAPONS, THREE AFT.

    "Will appeal to tactical captains"

    Two hangar bays

Scimitar comes with brand new carrier pet control UI for greater functionality.

Carrier pets will now grow in effectiveness the longer they are alive, Squadron health bars in the UI, five levels of veterancy.

Carrier UI overhaul is for ALL carriers, does not cover Saucer Sep or Multi-Vector.

    This is pretty huge, people.

It sound very powerful, but remember, it will have the turn rate of a Vo'quv or little more. If you use beams, 5/3 or 4/4 is the same.

The only thing that will make it turn will be the cloak, and we need to see it to have an idea about it. I tend to avoid cloaking in eSTF, take a single torp while cloak and you stop turning, at least until you respawn.

5 fore 3 aft? Ok I can handle that.

If this ship turns anything like the bortasqu' or Oddy, you probably shouldn't be using DHCs. DBBs are probably a better choice. Basically, you're just trading a rear turret or BA for a fore weapon.

As far as the powers, they will be OP at launch so everyone buys the set and then nerfed a month later to make it "fair" (they've done it before and they'll do it again R.I.P. Shield Adaptive Frequency Generator - 5/21/13-6/27/13)

Best guesses are the Scimitar turns at around 9 or 10 base, and has been observed turning between 20 and 30, undoubtedly the two-piece of the console set boosts turn. I think its going to be surprisingly viable with DHCs.

There is a difference between nerfing something and fixing it....In this case the console was doing more than the 200% listed (aka the intended amount)...so they are fixing it.

no. it doesnt. All signs show that it will turn like a d'deridex (~5.5-6) and even with evasive, it will never turn faster than 12 or 15. 9-10 base is totally outlandish for a ship of that size and only escorts can really make it to 25 with evasive.

Theres no way on earth the Scimitar is the largest ship in the game. Those Klingon carriers are flying bricks. Also, trying to make a carrier for tactical players? Seriously?

Considering the Khnial class is already larger than a Vo'quv, and is about 66% the size of the scimitar, the Scim is easily going to be the largest playable ship. My source is Terilynn's talk of the Scimitar from the latest Podcast UGC.

Also, just look at the screenshots we have of it, it dwarfs a Bortasqu, and is clearly bigger than the D'Deridex and Khnial.

I sure hope they also have some testers that do know how to set up a ship. If they're counting on setups like this to judge the ships power relative to ships currently ingame, were going to be in real trouble here, lol.

I know that feeling, i saw that setup on thinking about how poorly everything is setup. That person will not survive in PvP for more then 10 seconds.

Ok, first off: the moment I heard the Scimitar is on the horizon I put the 5k zen aside and started leveling a Reman tac.
Glad to see a tac will fit it well.

    Second: wonderful ship.

Third: WHY the heck do some people always just think of PvP when they talk about this ship's capabilities? Personally I only do PvE. And from a PvE point of view the Scimitar is just great.
PvP? To me, tuning in regard to PvP is a secondary objective at best. And seeing as you get most of the interesting gear through PvE, I hope the devs see it my way.
