Man, that was not nice. It is not a choice, check you facts before stating your argument.

And for the rest, if you cannot agree on this topic than you should just agree to disagree; nothing good will come from debating over personal perspectives. You made your point, it's been read, and just leave it alone. Otherwise you'll continue through numerous pages with no success of pointing anything else than you own lack of rationality.

Though there is a special place in Hell for bigots like this, my issue at the moment - having seen his stream for the last 10-15 minutes - is with the fact he's a complete incompetent. If you want someone to promote your game on a live stream, wouldn't you prefer they be somebody who has an idea what he's doing?

Furthermore, given that it's quarter to the hour, have there actually BEEN any giveaways here?

yes, to publicly display your personal choice that has nothing to do with the game is instigating those who dislike it. How loud would you howl if someone start The Hetero Christian TRIBBLE Hating Fleet? It's the same standard of self-expression. You wouldn't like that one bit would you?

Are you serious? You sound like you're promoting hate speech too.

Identifying myself as TRIBBLE is not hating on anyone. Joining an LGBT fleet would be joining a community of people who share similar positions and have similar outlooks. I know that would give me a tolerant environment for me to be myself and enjoy the game as myself.

How you claim that's the same as hating on anyone is baffling.

Ok. We get it you. You're a homosexual. You like your own sex. DEAL WITH IT. It's just a stream promoting the game. It's going to bring in new people. You're getting your panties all in a bunch because of ONE MAN.

And that signature just shows how immature you're going about with this!

This guy was awful. He talked incessantly and didn't read or listen to the tutorial, then wondered why he didn't understand how to do something. Watching him play was really annoying. Honestly, he made STO look bad. He didn't even say that you have to follow the channel to be eligible to win until after he already finished the giveaway. I don't recommend doing another promotion with him again. If you want to team up with Twitch streamers, I'd recommend Kateandkate. She's much more intelligent and some of her mods already play STO, though she's never played herself. At least get someone who has actually watched Star Trek.

I have to agree. I kept most of this muted - total incompetent.

To be honest, I just followed for the packs. I directly unfollowed after.

The guy was pretty incompetent and we had to tell him what to do. Very disappointing.

A : He did not say any hate-related thing, he was very un-offensive.
B : Yeah, he was not really on top of things.

I would really recommend teaming up with someone next who knows at least something basic about Star Trek, as it is the theme for your product.

That was really painful to watch and listen to.. He wasn't funny and he is a horrible gamer.. He just couldn't figure out the game. Even with the tutorial.. This was a Fail event.

Did you read the thread? Firstly, I was responding to someone saying that by admitting I'm TRIBBLE I'm instigating and deserving of the hatred I get. That's plain wrong.

Secondly, you're saying that getting new players is more important than whether a spokesperson has a history of anti-TRIBBLE hate speech. That is also wrong.

The issue is that Cryptic is using this person to promote STO having seen clear evidence of his hate-speech. By doing that, they implicitly say his actions were okay, because now they're rewarding him with prizes and promotions.

I simply can't understand your view point of your previous few posts. What if he didn't like black people? Or white people? If he was making slurs against a group of people because of the colour of their skin there would be complete disgust, disdain and outrage.

Yet, somehow, people don't illicit that level of disgust when it's sexual orientation. If it was the former, we wouldn't even be having this discussion.

To be honest, there are cultures around the world where all of the things above are perfectly normal, and elicit no disdain, disgust, or outrage.

Now I'm not judging, commenting, or making preferences between any cultures and their ideals. I am just pointing out that different ones exist, and you may meet them sometime. I am also not promoting any culture's world view or standards.

On the internet, it sometimes happens that you come across people with a vastly different culture then the one you have. It is an inevitable thing, and sometimes people need to approach these things calmly, since a big argument usually just makes the situation worse.

Lets make a non-offensive example about cultural differences.
Some places, belching at the table means that you are rude.
At others, it means you liked the meal and you compliment the host by belching.
I hope this example did not offend anybody.

Think of it like Federation peoples and Klingons meeting. They wont see eye to eye.

The stream was ok I guess. True that the guy didn't bother to read the tutorials and then acted confused. Still, I don't think he presented the game in the wrong way - I've seen many "it looks fun" comments in the chatroom.

Perhaps you could convinice the Angry Joe to re-visit the game after 3 years in a similar fashion? That could be funny.

Or perhaps TotalBiscuit? Now I recall the Neverwinter team doing some sort of let's play with him. Perhaps STO team could contact him about doing a LoR "WTF is..." video?

Just so I understand you correctly: Are you suggesting that because in some cultures it's okay to hate TRIBBLE people, that it's okay here too?

No, I'm saying that you cant expect that your world views and values will be accepted world-wide, and that there always will be people who do not share your culture and beliefs, and they may disagree with you rudely.

Cryptic already stated in this thread that they dont accept any kind of discrimination against anybody, which is a policy I happily follow.

    I hope that was clear?

But we're not talking world-wide, we're talking about Cryptic and STO, so world-views that suggest it's okay to hate gays don't apply here.

However, while Cryptic says they don't condone hate speech, they're perfectly happy to promote their product by partnering with someone who used hate speech in the past, implicitly saying that it's okay.

On another note, did the guys who won the Starter Packs finally get theirs? I know at least one or two got missed because of all the room spam.

"On another note, it was painful to watch him play the game." But hopefully, he will bring new players in today that want to get a start on it.

As to the hate speech thing, if it happened but he has changed his ways than that is good but I would hope Cryptic will keep an eye on his channel in case he goes off again.

Otherwise, my review is "meh" and would rather see Raptr and Branflakes or DStalh himself do a stream giveaway.

Sorry, I realize I may use some words too often.

If you use someone to promote your game and give them prizes, you are saying they are a good representative of the company. This means you are saying things they did in the past are okay with you.

If someone does something that you think is terrible, you do not use them to represent your product.

Yeah, maybe the guy changed his views, or at least keeps them to himself. I am very sure Cryptic or PWE would not let him do anything that goes against their own policy.

Again, this all requires that he keeps himself clean in the present time, and does not relapse into his old ruder tendencies.

That's the problem though; they are saying his past behavior was okay. You can't forget his past behavior because it's part of how he got to where he is, and who he is.

It doesn't matter if he plays nice for 2 hours, because Cryptic knows his history, and we know his history.

History that terrible can't be overlooked.

dude, the event is over. just stop. lol.

i stopped watching his stream not because of his past behavior. i stopped watching cuz he sucked, was impatient, incompetent, and skillfully TRIBBLE (fyi, not trying to offended those with mental disabilities).

Well firstly telling people to stop discussing doesn't really serve any purpose.

The issue is bigger than just 2 hours of streaming, because Cryptic has sent a message that they felt someone with this history of hate speech is appropriate to partner with them and promote the game.

Secondly, the fact that it was such a bad stream just makes it worse. They were more interested in having this person do a bad stream to promote the game than they care about the fact that he's got a history of hate speech.

    Just had a random idea...

Instead of Dan or Brandon (which both play STO daily) lets get Craig Z back into the game! XD I know he's busy with NW right now but him doing a live video and a give away would be kinda funny to see if he's completely up to date on what's changed and if he remembers how to fire phasers... (30 points worth nothing to who knows where that reference is from :P)

For those that don't know, Craig Zinkievich was STO's exec producer, and is now the Chief Operating Officer for Cryptic Studios. I think it'd be neat if the exec's and even the big wigs did a livestream once in awhile not to let players scream and complain but to laugh at their noobness and what not.
Yes, I'm that Askray@Batbayer in game. Yes, I still play. No, I don't care.

That would be pretty funny watching Zinc play again. Him or Jack. Jack used to play KDF hardcore at the beginning. Maybe have a PVP match between Zinc and Jack LOL.
