what happens is i open ship tailor its a mu star cruiser click advance settings click nacelles change it to noble it goes 750 zen and im like wth why its anoying
I know most of us overlook them, but that seems to be where the problem is. Check the windows.
I went to make a change to my Vor'cha Refit and it was doing the same thing - 750z - so I started just messing around with one thing at a time and by chance changed the windows from the "Windows - Type 1" that was being shown automatically upon entering the Ship Tailor to "Windows - Type 2" and suddenly it was no longer trying to charge me the 750 Zen.
"If you can't take a little bloody nose, maybe you ought to go back home and crawl under your bed. It's not safe out here. It's wondrous, with treasures to satiate desires both subtle and gross; but it's not for the timid." -- Q, TNG: "Q-Who?"
^Words that every player should keep in mind, especially whenever there's a problem with the game...
I'm having the same problem. I've submitted Bug reports for the issue. When is this going to be resolved? This is a serious problem because it asking for Real World money! If this isn't getting the highest attention then someone needs to have their posterior kicked.
Similar bug. Trying to customize the B'Rel with Koloth parts, but even though it's not trying to make me buy the Exeter, it still cancels my changes with the message of "[Failed] Ship uses invalid parts". Did on Tribble say I needed the Exeter, but not on Holodeck.
When opening the customization window, I have a DEFAULT charge of 750zen - even without doing anything
Does that mean that both available skins (Qin (default) and Birok) are C-store skins? I cant even find a skin in the store which is 750zen.
So, is this a bug, a new feature?
Any ideas?
I had a similar issue with the Qin, but it was a long time ago so I don't remember what exactly was the problem. However, I do remember that when you go into ship customization, there should be the whole default setup of the Qin not costing you anything, but something got messed up and instead of defaulting the free Qin variant, it defaults the one that is purchased with zen (or parts of it mixed with the free one so it's hard to notice). What I did is carefully retrieve all parts that are suposed to be used to the default free Qin setup and the price returns to zero.
I think it's potentially any change in ship customization that is causing the problem.
What I want to know is why no one seems to be paying attention to a probllem where the game is trying to charge RL money for something that is already purchased??? Why hasn't a developer or someone indicated when this is going to be fixed??? Anything that deals with your account and money needs to have the highest priority.
Eh, go easy on them. The expansion just launched - they're probably swamped in top-priority bug fixes. Besides, finding a bug is a lot easier than fixing it.

Sorry, I don't agree. Any bug that has the potential to cost people money should be the one addressed first.
If it was just EC, a reputation, or something like that, I wouldn't be concerned. Being required to purchase something for Zen is not the same. This is basicly double billing for a purchase. There is no difference between this and a double entry on a billing statement such as a credit card.

You're right that it's a serious issue, and that it should be a top priority for costing players real money. But my point was that there are probably a lot of other bugs costing players real money; big launches are hectic.
I guess what I'm saying is to be nice to the poor programmers and QA guys working 16 hours a day all week, and save the righteous fury for the customer service department if it decides not to refund everyone who was affected.

Part of my problem is that they still haven't provided an ETA or any indication that they are working on this problem other than "known issue". Simple communication would be helpful in keeping people from being upset but instead they say nothing.
The other is that they seem to be addressing other problem, and not this one. Anything that is related to a payment should have the highest priority, above server stability, above login problems, above absolutely everything else.
So I created a new guy, then went to do my first ship customization. Without changing a thing, it tells me that I need 750 zen. If I try to purchase, it says my "outfit" requites that I buy Exeter. I thought this might be normal for th game now, but appears to be a bug of some sort.
The exact same thing just happened to me today. i payed 2000 zen for a costume on my ship after that i had nothing left over, and then i go to actually customize my ship and i have to pay 750 zen! What a complete rip off!!! Hopefully they will fix this so that i don't have to pay even more.
it worked for me on may 26 2013
Also an easy fix would be give everyone a free Exeter
This may be a difference in what customization we're performing and on what ship. I'm trying to change the bridge to the Constitution Bridge on my Constitution Class Light Cruiser. While I can hit the Random button, the Constitution Class has no external customization options. Not sure if that's part of the issue or if it's only related to the fact I'm trying to change the bridge.
The randomize thing worked for me. If I selected a certain hull, the price thing would pop back up, but if randomize selected the hull I wanted automatically, then it would not charge me.
I have bought some items; namely ship customizations. Now when I go back to change my starship's appearance. I am being charged Zen again for the change.
Why am I being charged for a purchase when I have already have the item available and I am not paying 750 zen for something I already have!?!
EDIT: TY for moving my thread to this one, at least I am not the only one with problems.
It happens to be sometimes, not all the time, but sometimes, when it does, I cancel out and re-enter and its fine.
What I think the problem is, is that I can go onto a C-Store specific skin that I haven't bought and it gives me the price increase, but what it doesn't do is remove the cost, when I go back to the default skin I entered with.....so I am thinking the customization feature isn't talking with the game itself or something like that.
What I want to kn ow is when someone is going to indicate that this is being fixed, that somene is working on it, etc. They are just leaving us in the wind guessing.

so what your saying is you need exeter to change anything in ship tailor great:mad::mad:

I TOTALLY AGREE oh also randmize fix WORKS

No, randomize does not work. I've tried it and as of the latest patch from today 27-May the system is still trying to charge me for the Exeter Outfit.
Also an easy fix would be give everyone a free Exeter

Thank you, thank you! When my Fed hit Commander the other day this glitch happened to me. I just went and tried your suggestion and it worked!
Thank you again.

Now just changing any item by it's self will incur this charge.
Spam random until you see 500, change the part to a free part and it goes to 0.
Some parts are bugged to 750: Windows 1, Saucer (leave the random and it stays 0, change and it's 750)
Those are the ONLY two parts that charge points.
