Zen for ship costume change? *Resolved*

edited June 2013 in PC Gameplay Bug Reports
As per title, whenI went into the starship costume system this morning in order to change the Windows on my B'rel Refit, the game DEMANDED 750 Zen so that I buy the Exeter (a Federation ship type). Considering that the B'rel Refit is already a C-Store ship that I paid 2000 Zen for already, this seems to be a bit ... wrong.

Cryptic, did no one tell you this was a problem during beta testing on Tribb- oh, I see they did ... *repeatedly* ... and yet nothing was done, ensuring this bug would get pushed LIVE.

Would there be any Community Managers around willing to carry a message back to the requisite development team(s) for me, informing them that this bug even exists? Would be much appreciated.

    /co-signed

As far as bugs go, this is one of the most bizarre ones I've ever seen.

Saw this bug on Tribble. Ticket submitted.

This only affects your starter B'Rel or hte B'Rel retrobit on the KDF side. On any other next ship, you can customize it without being prompted to buy the Exeter.

Trying to paint my nacelles a different color on my Fleet Defiant would have cost 750 zen. Are we painting it with Neutronium?

The game is charging me 750 zen to change my ships looks and I'm not trying to use any pieces from a Z-store ship that I do not own. It charges me 750 no matter what I do (even if I don't actually do anything).

I couldn't find any information about this change so I'm guessing it is a bug? At least I'm hoping it's a bug =(. I mean 750zen to change your ships look is just waaay too much lol.

what your trying to do is add the reman skin

if you select one of the romulan skins from the material menu, it is free (or energy credits if you havn't changed your ship costume already)

No, it's not. It's a bug that was first spotted on Tribble. It wants you to by the Exeter before you can make any customizations to the ship you were using before Legacy of Romulus.

    Heh, That is weird.

I haven't been able to play any new content (been too busy with RL stuff lately). I haven't played any new Romulan stuff on live yet. The ship I was trying to customize (wanted to see the new texture graphics) was my Jem'hadar attack ship, I don't think their are any Reman skins available for that lol.

Ooh, ouch. If it was a C-Store ship, I would suggest dismissing the ship and reclaiming it, but that's not going to work with a Bug.

Obviousy you're painting it with melted down Exeters. :P

That's one of the strangest bugs I've heard of.
I ask nothing but that you remember me.

I believe he said it was a "Jem'hadar attack ship," per the above post (#4), and not that he was trying to modify per se, but that he "wanted to see the new texture graphics."

For me, it's whatever I had last left my character's ship to. For my KDF Tac, it's a Mirror Qin. For my Fed Eng, it's a Regent. I suspect it's the same with my KDF Sci's Vo'quv and my Fed Tac's Steamrunner Retrofit, but I don't like sitting for hours in a queue just to reproduce a bug.

Again, this seems to be related to (or is!) a bug from the Tribble build, where you needed to purchase the Exeter in order to customize the beginner B'rel.

The 750 Zen charge gets added to the cost when I click on any Template.

Edit: This was on my Engineer's Tactical Odyssey.

    Lol which ship.
    Every ship.
It would be easier to list those ships and effects it does not pertain to than those that it does. IF, in fact, I could get in to test anything.

For what it's worth, I have the same issue with my newly purchased K'Tinga, and it charges for just going into the customization screen - I don't have to change any settings, it's 750, kthxbye.

    Yeah, I did cancel.

Same issue with my B'Rel (first Klingon ship). It insisted I must purchase the Exeter class in order to change the ship costume.

It's sad that this had a huge thread on the tirbble forums and wasn't fixed...

Is this your way of saying you are going to lock my problem in a box to never see the light of day again? :P

Anyways, It appears to be affected all my ships on my main character. All my ships (lock box, Z-store and the free level up token ships) all seem to be affected.

Couple of my fleetmates tested it out. Only seems to apply to C-Store and Lobi ships. Doesn't affect shuttles, fleet ships or regular ships.

My starter Klingon ship has this problem. But I did notice that if you hit random enough it gives to a combination that costs no Zen. If you change anything it goes back to asking for Zen.

I too am having this problem with my captain's level free ship. I can't change its look without it costing 750 zen. Randomizing it does work but that's rather unsatisfactory. Luckily it's just cosmetic but it is a bit disappointing

Seems to be affecting any ship I get upon promotion. Does not matter if I utilize Federation, Klingon or Romulan.

I also found a work around! After utilizing randomize, I could customize my ship without any worries. Its not a great work around, but it will suffice till Cryptic resolves it.

I had this exact same problem with my newly acquired VA and LTS ships. Attempting to change the colours or patterns resulted in being asked to fork over 750zen. I will say however, that upon logging in today and finding the issue still in place when trying to make alterations to my VA Intrepid Retrofit, I decided to switch out the standard bridge for one I had purchased from the C-Store.

As soon as the new bridge was in place the 750zen requirement had vanished. I do not know if this was in any way related but it does seem rather odd that after trying everything from switching out hull/saucer/nacelle variants as well as different colour schemes and patterns, changing the bridge seemed to resolve the problem.

Hi all, I am absolutely loving the new content, and the episode replays which STO have given us!

I was sooo happy to see that my T5 B'rel (on my Kink toon) finally has no black spots on the skin, so I decided to change it a little. I went to the KDF shipyard, when to change the ship costume, and every time I try, It keeps telling me to cough up 750 zen.

I then switched ships to a non C-store ship, and tried again, and it is asking me again, for 750 zen.

I am hoping that this is some king of glitch, and its not now part of the norm, where you have to pay 750 zen just to change your ship skin!

    Has anyone else spotted this?

To ad: I didn't accidently click for a premium ship part of anything, I have changed ship skins many times.

TBH, my current BoP is part B'rel, par Koloth, but now that the black spots have been sorted, I want my BoP to be all B'rel once again.
