Just because there's a high queue doesn't mean Cryptic was ill-prepared. They probably anticipated a small queue (which from a devs point having a small, quickly moving queue is actually pretty good) but had no idea there'd be a 10,000 + queue. This is the first time I've seen ANY queue and I only subbed last night.
The queue was over 6000 when the 3rd Anniversary Event launched. And that was peanuts compared to the hype and promotion put into this.
Day 1 being a mess was unavoidable, given how recent that was.

but the server is running multiple games and each one brings in money and you cannot say there broke otherwise the games would be gone.i think they have made enuogh off each game to move some onto a different server.
This seems just like the Tribble problem last week... only the numbers aren't going into the astronomical areas they were then.

Well guess I'm not playing tonight... 7195 out of 12312 and rising... maybe i'll check back in a few days and see if they did any kind of upgrades to fix this. If not oh well.. I'm F2P and can resort back to playing Minecraft and watching TRIBBLE I guess.

Cryptic needs to upgrade their servers. AGAIN. Because this is ridiculous, how many people are waiting to play. I was on earlier today, when the servers first came up from the patch, and I may be a free to play, but I don't care. I want to play. If any Golds or Lifetimes think they're entitled to log in instantly while us silver players wait forever for the queue to end, they're dead wrong. That wasn't in the subscription features.
