I guess I can wait patiently, I will just watch the screen and see if I can see my new home circling past on the planet surface.... Wait!!!.... Oh nope... just another empty landmass...

and here i was going to spend money on my new rommy toon, cant even get into the game to do it, wonder how much money they are loosing out on today with this servers "unknown reason" problem, cmon cryptic, spend some of those dollars on a server that works........

See I doubt they are lose much if any money on this issue, as most players will simply spend tomorrow what they were going to spend today.

HOWEVER, that being said I do not doubt their engineer's dedication to fixing this game asap. Mostly because the interaction they have with the community as well as the fact that it scores them points on the real life reputation system. :P

Captains log, still wont flush down the toilet.

We have tried everything, the smell is so bad that ted, the guy that runs the ships computer core has passed out and things are going down hill. Tried to send a rescue party in after ted, they were never heard from again. I have given the order to abandon ship and had the captain summarily executed for gross violation of health and safety legislation.

First I got the long download and patch issue, no big deal, only a 2 hour deal. Now I've been trying to log on for an 1 3/4 hours. It's 6:40 pm EST now. When I first tried to log in, I got a message stating that I was #59 of 1174 in a queue... When did this start? All the years I've played this game, never have I had to wait in a queue. Seriously, it's not like they got a million new people logging on... I don't remember seeing anything about a new queue system. After a 15 minute wait, it finally looked like I was going to get on until I got a "server not responding message". After 250+ seconds it logged in to the game. I wasn't logged on for more than 5 minutes when I got discounted. Since then I haven't been able to get on, now I get a "Login failed for unknown reasons". I've tried for at least 45 minutes now and all I get is the same thing over and over. I thought all those server upgrades and the resent downtime was to avoid all these problems at launch. I think if there's going to be a waiting queue, paying players should get some sort of priority.

"Paying customers are sick to death of this BS"

Don't presume to to speak for me, a paying customer. I'm okay, patient and prepared to wait. This is nothing new, and to be frank the grief currently being given on this thead is no surprise. After 10 years of MMORPGing, this should kind of hitch with a new expansion especially on a popular f2p should NOT be a surprise, chill.

well said and I agree 100%

Having downloaded a new version of the launcher (from the link in the sticky post), I managed to get the launcher up and running, and the patch downloaded.

And then just as it started "Connecting...", I got the same message that I was getting earlier with the launcher update. This time, with an error code attached: "Error 36: A file was locked that couldn't be open for writing. Restart in [countdown]" and then it restarts the connection process, comes up with the same error, restarts itself again and keeps on repeating the cycle on and on.

Well, we've come to this now have we? "Unknown reason" really? In this day and age with technology as advanced as it is, diagnostic software that can produce 50 thousands lines of code a second and "Unknown Error"

As a life time member, as someone insane enough to buy the legacy pack when it came out and even insane enough to keep putting money in so I can fiddle with the new toys as they come out... I'm disappointed here. Very long download for an update, massive update in fact all told it seemed to be at least a gig in size if the download counters are to be believed. For an LCARS menu screen that looks very much like the one from Bridge Commander, a game from the 90s.

Unknown Error  why unknown error, why not just tell us the error why does it need to be unknown? Has Veeger returned and wants to bond with the creator? Has Nomad desired to improve the Cryptic Servers? Did the borg queen get all hot and bothered over your motherboards and your having to use hand-fans to dry them off before you can turn them back on? What really happened?

after being unable to resolve the Gasgo station mission for over 5 min, then still being unable to add Hiven to my bridge officers, I logged out to see if that would help. getting the login failed message now. they might be related.

I wanted to add that it starts to retrieve list of characters just before it fails. hope that helps.

The only thing that would make me go grr is if we got a rollback and had to start from level 1 again.

Players who or lifetime or a gold subscriber DO get a priority in queue. Look at the queue number, if you're lifetime you'll see a number something like 321 out of 1285. It means it pushed nine hundred odd free players back in line so you could get in line with subscribers.

After 10 years of MMORPGing they should have learned how to avoid these problems...

I must admit I find crypitc's lack of care really frustrating. They have to be -Thee- worst MMO company that i've seen in a long while. It's been years since I've been apart of any "Patch day downtime" Granted new Singleplayer-drm mangled messes cause rubbish like this but com'on. 3 MMO's minimum experience, 3 years alone on this one and STILL can't keep the servers going on an expansions release? Seriously makes me wonder where the skill and money goes.
