Unable to Log In Due to Unknown Reasons (We're investigating this)

*!*!*We are investigating an issue where some players are seeing a "login failed for unknown reason" error at the log-in screen.*!*!*
Let us wear Swimsuits on Foundry maps or bridges please! I would pay zen for that.

    launcher is a blank window, error popup window staitng a script error in line 225: "$" is undefined, URL http://launcher.startrekonline.com/js/custom-form-elements.js followed by about 4 similar errors
    This is on Steam

    I had it as well just now, butt I press "Yes" in the window a few times and then it actually comes up. Patching KB by KB ... meowz.

    Had the same too. I refused the scripts. Got game launcher with no visuals. Entered my credentials and thus logged on.

    I'm getting a launcher error too.

    Mine brings up the little window that says it's trying to update the launcher, downloads for a while and then as it gets to the end, throws up an error window titled "Patcher error" with the message "A file was locked that could not be open for writing."

    How frustrating!

    I can't even access the launcher anymore because I can't even contact the STO server via steam. Wow, I think I'm giving up on STO for tonight. LOR is now Legacy of Dead Hamsters.

    Same here "Login failed for an unknown reason"
    Beta, LTA, CE, Multiple preorder Versions, all Addon Packs except AoY, nearly all KDF/Rom and ~50% of all Fedships, over 25 LockboxShips, Endurer of Atari's "Year of Hell", but...

    It kinda crashed for me. It's weird. Now I'm getting a "Program cannot display the webpage" error, and all my other cryptic launchers are screwed up.

    Same here, the bloody launcher kept crashing and failing to download the patch untill after the 8pm ( Uk time ) server up. Now, at 11.49 pm and the patch was 89% complete the launcher just crashed and won't restart. I'm giving up on tonight too. I knew it'd end like this when they said the servers would be down from 3pm - 8pm.

    Try to log in until you get in. I successfully did it on my 3rd attempt. But now I'm laggy.

    even worse here, just got in and was looking at the traits on my main trying to decide what to use and got a CTD. now login failed.

    3rd try worked for me too.

    Are you getting Tried Connecting To Launcher, all the time? I keep on getting it after I had to go to the toilet :)

    Oddly enough, it was working fine until I was changing characters at exactly 4:47 and I got "Login Failed for Unknown Reason." Tried to log in 5 times, same message.


    Clearly I logged out and the server couldn't handle the rejection.

    yep and all i get is failed attempted, and then the page goes white, and thats it. Then trys to submit a report to cryptic but fails... :rolleyes:

    Hrmm, launcher crashed while patching.. Reload and it's a new fancy launcher..

    They're trying to put in a Character Slot patch and load a new launcher to speed up downloads.
    STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.
