I've played this game for a long time now and I usually don't complain; however, this new trend of weekend crashes and emergency maintenance is really pathetic. In my line of work, this would be considered a resume generating event.
Insert comment about how I should be getting compensation in this free-to-play MMO crashing because the servers are going through huge changes and have a million billion people logging on to fap to new Romulan content (which they will probably ***** about come launch day because they can't transfer their level 50 Romulan captain to Holodeck).
Oh and yeah it's pretty funny to see the launcher go all Windows '95.
These are the voyages of the Starship Cryptic Servers , its 5 year mission to disconnect new life forms and new civilizations to boldly disconnect where no server has disconnected before.
UPDATE: Looking into a few possible causes right now. Then? Fixes. Things are looking good, Captains!
Cheers,
Brandon =/\=
Bran, I'm sorry, but no it isn't. This many outages in a short span of time, despite numerous fixes and new hardware, points to a deep problem at your data center. In ten days time you guys are going to have a load spike to make this look like a walk in the park and another when NWO goes live. I don't know if it's aging hardware, inefficient load handling or something else entirely but Cryptic is -not- ready for what's coming.
The server status indicator on my launcher is a little itty-bitty white box...

Two hours and still going. This is gunna be an expensive weekend for PWE. If the servers are down in primetime nearly every second evening, there is also no C-store transaction, no Dilithium conversion, nothing. Doesn't that bug PWE in the slightest? If you want money, work harder on your servers, please. And I thought Atari had bad servers.

Okay let's put it this way. Less money into the csr budget and more into the hardware budget. After all why have csr's for a set of game's that clearly has a limit on how many people can fit in it. OH that's right nevermind mods are unpaid pimply nerds who get picked on in school and work for game zen. That explains it all!
Wow dude, chill....breathe....in through the nose, out through the mouth...

^ This. People are really losing their marbles, it's like they don't do anything except play STO, so their lives crumble and they sit in corners, bored to tears because they can't drool over LoR content.

Cleary the issue is that you fired Scotty and replaced him with Welshie.
I wonder if they're dealing with the overload by only allowing odd numbered accounts on the server?
Even numbered accounts get every other day and thursdays everyone gets custody of the downtime.
we went back to windows 3.1 to bring you that new news

and the launcher is totally dead now
/Sarcasm.
But in truth, they really aren't, so i fail to see the logic of not upgrading the servers to a more appropriate system.
