Once again, and all too predictably, Cryptic have underestimated demand on their hardware and over estimated the hardwares ability to cope.

Everyone and their cat is trying to get on tribble to preview LoR.

    And, of course they are.

LoR is probably the most hotly anticipated new thing in STO since launch.

A week or so back, Cryptic also launch NW and, inexplicably, set it up so it shares a portion of the network hardware.

That game too is hotly anticipated and attracts a huge number of players.

Since then, connection stability has been patchy at best.

I can accept a vague comment from BF when its just one time. Why go into details just for a freak thing?

But this is becoming a regular occurance.

Branflakes, please approach d'Stahl and ask him to allow you to post an actual reason for the recent instabilities.

And, more importantly, what you are actually doing to address the problem.

Because, as things stand, Cryptic is rapidly losing a lot of respect.

I thought, after the Valentines Days Massacre patch, that lessons had been learned.

Full disclosure is better than obviously evasive answers. Full disclosure, followed by actual action.

    Please learn from your mistakes.

    CRYPTIC,

Your server issues and constant disconnects inspire great confidence in me to devote vast amounts of time and money.

    Keep up the great work.

I have been fanatically defending Cryptic because I know how difficult it can be to repair a server after a hardware failure. That is until today, this is where you fill in the straw that broke the camel's back or other various appropriate analogies.

Normally I'm not on to jump on the compensation bandwagon, but at this point the sheer amount of server crashes are going to be dangerous for Cryptic. They've improved the game by leaps and bounds with the LOR expansion, but if people loose confidence in Cryptic because of unstable servers, everything they achieved with the expansion will mean nothing.

Yes this is a F2P game, but don't mistake that for meaning the game is anywhere close to free. This isn't a game where you spend 20 dollars and get a whole list of items for that 20 dollars. It wouldn't be at all surprising if there were people that have spent over 500 dollars on this game. I know I've spent over 200 on various things here and there, and not only because I wanted cool stuff, but because I know the potential of the game and wanted to help make that happen. With all of the current server problems do I regret this?...no not yet.

However at this point and if this continues, that may change and not just for myself but for many others as well. A gesture of good will on Cryptic's part or just plain out Damage control if you'd rather would be far more beneficial to regaining/solidifying customer confidence and would outweigh any cost or temporary imbalance in in-game economics.

That would imply that craptic cares....they never did...you think they care now? They already got your money!

i'm not a tech, but i'm pretty sure they have many servers and all games are on separate ones... the trouble happens when the 'server farm' has power surges and the like. when they said the games are on separate servers, they were telling the truth... so those of u who say u have a 'basic' understanding... well that's not enuff... lol i just want my star crack!!! hurrryyyyy!!!!
Don't know why it says i'm an ARC user. i will never use that TRIBBLE Cryptic!

The only problem is that criptis isn't spending $$$ for make the right update.
2 games on a server= means server crash.
And with the story of " free money (false) Server" they kick ur balls. They get more money than with a subscription.
So we suck and the owner of criptic are laughing.

    this is the true story.

Out of interest, are there any lawyers, or Solicitors or whatever on here?

If so, then answer me this, I pay a gold membership of ?10 a month for a service, I expect this service to have maintenance occasionally, but that's it.

Now where do I stand in law for compensation, when this service is taken down outside of maintenance (emergencies excluded) due to issues of servers, hardware etc.

Or Is the fact that the company has gone free to play, that I get no compensation, even though I have a contract?

Ps, I know there are Life members on here too, so they too would be open to get compensation as well.

man if i had backing on investment I'd go into business and buy new game servers and tell all my fellow trek people to come over to my new system that doesnt run any other games on the exact same server , so no crashes guarantee :) wow and then i could be a just fair and honest business that cares for its Star Trek Gamers and all the problems of old are all gone , oh and i patch when needed not crash when not needed Lol good luck cryptic maintenance your gonna need it since no major accomlishments have been really done yet , why do we know ? look at login screen. and yes be patient the new LOR comes in 10 days lol my heart is telling me crash crash crash and some more crash , woe I'm so excited for that can't\'t wait to look at my login screen that day and wonder what it would be like to play regularly or at all, cant imagine how many will be irritated after they buy legacy pack and if you fail to keep game running Lol i see not good things in your future , I just hope this quality of work follows you all in your resumes when looking for other jobs , oh i said other jobs bcuz thats whats going to happen if its not fixed , I'm really hoping for Boycott of STO maybe that will hit your little square thing that holds your credit card on the pack of your pants starts to go empty. thank you for the wonderful fun and game time with you lol.

I still think this is the greatest MMO I've ever been able to play, and that means Cryptic did a great job making it. I understand there will be downtime, and I can live with that. I have no problem giving PWE my money here and there if it keeps the game live, and that won't change.

I just wish that when something like this happens, we'd be treated with enough respect to get a straight forward answer as to why it's happening, if they know, and if they can share the reason, but not this "Tribbles" in the server stuff. That sounds like a joke to me, like they don't take it seriously, and if anyone should be taking it seriously it should be them.
