Just because you are butthurt, never make an assumption you know the type of person I am.

You need to learn when some one is playing. :D

Seriously you couldn't tell based on the way I typed the sentence?

You need to look at my forum picture, he's a Klingon, since when did a Klingon ever have a nice thing to say ? :P

I am posting from what I know, and I have not messed with Tribble, as I like things fresh. If the Romulan ships have a low turn rate, and are reduced in power levels, then perhaps my suggestion is too extreme. I just would very much like to see the KDF get what its player has earned.

A long time ago I made my KDF toon, and posted a whole a list of changes, I felt the KDF needed for max immersion into the KDF side. It was ignored. Now many months later, I do not recognize most of the KDF players posting. The KDF I think is going to turn into the RDF, or Romulan Defense force. The bop will loose its uniqueness, and sense there is a poster who likes to dig up dirt on other posters in this thread, I will take it one step further. I also previously asked if the Defiant should have a battlecloak. All Klingons ships have cloak, but only the bop has battle cloak. Now they are giving battle cloak to all Romulan ships. Not a single federation ship has battle cloak. Unless the hull points on the warbirds are extremely low. This takes one of the few remaining unique things of the KDF away.

I am a huge fan of the Klingons, but in sto I did not feel that I was stepping into that universe, except on rare occasions. They can complete the leveling experience, but I think it would be prudent to give all KDF ships battle cloak. This I think would help out the faction. Right now I just do not see the Uniqueness of the Klingons, or as the op said whats the reason to make a klingon now.

While not testing myself, I heard from others that are testing that there is a final tier warbird that has HEC (Fed escort) stats, 5 tac consoles and a battlecloak. I don't know how accurate that is but it just seems a "tad" much.

I realize most people would dismiss a claim like that but Cryptic IS trying to sell more ships above everything else. They also had no qualms about releasing a ship full of bugs (Kumari) knowing full well about its unfinished nature. Nevermind about the 5 forward weapon slots on said ship.

Five forward weapon slots? Thats nuts, I could say more, but its not like it would help.

If Romulans are allowed to Join the KDF and have access to Romulan ships and KDF ships and gear - what possible reason would any new player roll a Klingon toon?

I mean you can roll a Rommie and come into a KDF fleet and have access to all KDF ships and equipment and you get all the Romulan shinnies to?

All the old KDF players are stuck with just the KDF gear as I see it now.

So unless I am wrong - other than Klingon fandom - what possible reason is there to start/keep a Klingon toon when you can - or a new player can get access to all your stuff+their new stuff?

So those fleets that built up bases - you get to build ships and gear for the Romulans - that you wont have access to as a Klingon!!

I hope I am wrong - but if this is true - the Klingon race is going to almost disappear in STO.

relax dude. romulan ships may have battle cloak but they get -5 to -10 power to all systems due to thier singularity drive.
    also thier turn rates suck

kdf allied romulans cant get our tier 5 ships.

in the end what will happen is feds will whine. and Cryptic will give feds singularity cores.

then romulans will drop down to 15% playerbase like us and we will have publicized evidence for why Cryptic cant ignore a faction just cause everyone wants to be the "good guys"
personally as far as playerbases go, KDF is the good guys and Feds are a bunch of whiners and ragers.

    Really, its a game.. relax

    Breathe in.. Breathe out

Say it with me "Its a game"

That being said, most of my toons are klingon, been playing klingon back when pvp and nebulas where the only way to level. Sure, ill roll a rommie, but Im not giving up being a Klingon, and in the end, even with my strong like of the STNG Rom ships, I will end up back to playing a klingon.

Really, if everyone else leaves the klingon empire to play roms, I'm fine with that. Less lag for me. In the long run, you will have die hard rom lovers roll roms just because they love roms. You will have min maxers roll rom kdf as in the end, KDF just is better (IMHO) ad you will have stubborn folks as myself who wont give up the easy, non lag or blood red screen anytime soon just to roll a new race

Overall, new races, new player factions are a good thing. It shows the devs are putting an effort into expanding their product offering, they are willing to vest time & money into it, and as a consumer, Im willing to pay them for the effort. With luck it will be so successful that it will spurn other player factions to be rolled out, and with it all the awesome canon and ship designs. So relax, this isnt WoW, the devs actually seem to pay attention, they offer a product worth buying, so much so they offer it free and you can buy the features you want, its the free market at its best, and I fully salute them in their endevour

Based on our game population the only way the KDF can be facing extinction is if I die in my sleep.

We wont let that happen. You will die as any true warrior of the Empire, on your feet, blade in hand, fighting till you last breath.
    Have you checked tribble yet?

Is it worth checking? (You know my standards)

But seriously, is it worth checking? I'm not sure how much they have up for the KDF on it, and I don't wanna re-download the game to play Rom (soz).

I mean, I heard the KDF stuff was going up sometime in May, but I haven'r heard how much and when.

    Thankya :)

Depends on if you feel like waiting to see it or not.

Anyone can copy a character over to Tribble I think and check out the new Klingon stuff, except for the beginning tutorial itself. But then again, I also have a closed beta invite, so I could be mistaken.

Though honestly, having played it, it is 1-20 leveling story content exactly as promised after so long. And most of it really and truly does feel like playing a Klingon.
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.

As a new player that is going to create a romulan character as a main, and aligning with KDF. Does it even mater what role I choose Eng/Tac/Sci? Was thinking a Engineer as a main although I heard they are not that good atm. But then there is the feeling to have a real big Romulan ship that can take a beating - And I dont mind beeing the underdog.

For PvE purposes, what roles are needed most on KDF side, or does it not even matter?

Yeah so far manhunt is my favorite KDF mission now :D I had what the hell was that moment multiple times when I was testing it out... Much much better than missions we already had :D I'm kinda waiting for it to hit holodeck to get surprised on the other new missions.

Well from what I've seen, the KDF races I have seen the most are Orions, Ferasans and the occasional Gorn, maybe 1 or 2 Klingons-- no... those Klingons are NPCs. Nevermind.

Dreadnought class. Two times the size, three times the speed. Advanced weaponry. Modified for a minimal crew. Unlike most Federation vessels, it's built solely for combat.

It doesn't really matter, play what you want to they all have their own strengths.

Tactical gets abilities to increase your damage output.
Engineer gets abilities to let them hang longer in a fight in various ways.
Sci get abilities to debuff and control their opponents.

In the grand scale of things though in terms of what the KDF needs it doesn't really matter as STO doesn't rely heavily on having the right amount of each class in a group like other MMOs.

So play whatever you like best, personally my main has always been a sci officer and I wouldn't trade it for anything.

That's because the Klingons use cloak on their ships, so you can't see them most of the time. ;)

Im happy with them as well, even if they are rewrites of existing material.

We have our low level content and a complete line of ranking up in gameplay.

Though some will say we have been misstreated in LoR I have to disagree. Speaking for myself , I have been asking for a complete KDF and to spit on the hands that gives it is without honor.
We are complete. Now we can truelly strive to build the Empire in STO from a firm foundation.

I'd like to see the pvp queues on the Klingon side more popular when the expansion is released. I hope the faction is more popular...fed side pvp queues are super short, klingon side they're long.

as far as the KDF facing extinction its utter twaddle, I will still be playing my KDF character as well as a Romulan on the KDF... more likely any romulan I make will be going KDF.... but I will still play my KDF characters.... in PVP we might actually see more and more FvK PVP because of this..... mostly because a lot of fed players see this as a way to get a battle cloak (Romulan Ships Only) on a federation character thinking that it will be the GREAT EQUALIZER.

my prediction for release is more FvK PVP or more accurately RvK (with a few bug ships for good measure)... and those of us that have played KDF from the very beginning (Beta to now) will STILL be victorious in battle........ but expect to see more and more cloaking (cough cough... Romulan Cough cough)
ships in FvK pvp.... just more stuff for my Hegh'Ta of Doom to make asplode......

I play a Klingon char, and I would not get rid of him for anything. He kicks the feds backsides, and he will do the same with any green blooded romulan/reman as well.

I don't think players fully realize yet just how serious this scenerio is - they hoped for more Klingon blood into the playerbase - but the advatages of running a Rommie/KDF toon are stacked too high against a traditional KDF toon.

As some Klingon players leave they will be replaced with Rommies - the Klingon part of the KDF will get smaller and smaller as time goes on.

If they want to roll a Romulan petaQ, so be it. More Bloodwine for me and my Targ. My B'rel stands ready..... for VICTORY!

To be honest, I been playing STO since the beta, but I have not play the KDF side too much. My toon it's only a Captain because I can't play too long before I get a headache with the color scheme that we currently have on the UI. But I tested the new UI on Tribble and I love it. I plan to concentrate on my KDF toon from Tuesday on. I rolled a Romulan on Tribble, so I really do not want to do it all over again so soon, so I just going to wait. I'm really looking forward the leveling up.

I will actually be spending more time on the kdf with my orion soon as LoR goes live, that I no longer have to be forced with red hot poker near the eye feeling while playing my kdf character, for me its been bad since its some color blind stigmatism that causes massive headaches after about 20 minutes of that red...might have something to do with all the other colors topped onto the red...anyway i degress,

I think the kdf isnt going anywhere, infact my fleet is pretty well split with wanting to support kdf and fed fleet bases which is a good sign that shows people are still interested to see the kdf develop more...

I did find it sad that romulans allied with kdf got the fingerless gloves first tho...and I would still like to see the star trek 3 uniforms for kdf options to start with...

theres alot of love thats still needed for you guys but its a step in the right direction

    DOOOOMMM....

But ironically, I'm planning to roll the Gorn I've been wanting to play but wanted to wait until the KDF actually had 1-50.

    So,

    Go Gorn?
