Scheduled Maintenance (April 25, 2013)

Hi Captains,

We will be bringing down Star Trek Online tomorrow, Thursday, April 25th, at 7AM PDT (click here to view in your timezone) for maintenance and to apply a new patch. Patch notes can be found here, and we expect this maintenance to only last for 2 hours. The test server may also be unavailable during this time.

    Is this due to the problems with the server that I seem to have been experiencing?

    Every login attempt I have made today has been unsuccessful within 0-15 mins of logging in!

    good to see server stability fixes, but how about just getting better quality servers to handle heavier loads, especially with LoR not to farther off. Can only do these fixes so much, no?

    thatll require somewhere batween 4-12 hours just to do that with all the data that the game has.

    also the little hamsters they have might want new running mates with those new servers:P

    Guys, This always happens the month before a release. The main Server lags, and there is instability. I honestly believe it is because they are already building background into the system for the new release. Just ride it out like we do twice a year and let it move forward.

    If you haven't been in on the closed beta for the Romulan faction. Let me say ... It is worth the problems. AWESOME so far.

    i cant make that determination unless i get access..

    as of the instability, i have not noticed since the last patch. my main computer before last weeks patch just couldnt play the game, but now i have figured out what the problem was, isolated it and removed it, the game now plays on my main computer, but i do not know if a recent patch has corrected it through stability fix or my own fix.
    A stability fix is fine but it has been my experience in MMOs i have seen that putting a stability fix in place now probably wont make any difference and will likely require another one before long when LoR is released.

    Right, we wouldn't want a repeat of CCP's server issues...

    I've heard on the grapevine that they are switching from 32Bit Mottled hamsters to 64bit quad core Algerian Guinea Pigs....and in a bold but risky move increasing the size of the wheel ... :P

    Ok seriously, THIS time are we going to have actual server stability, or is it going to be yet ANOTHER round of server crashes as it is that ALWAYS follows in the aftermath lately of "General Server Stability" messages???

    Seriously I hope it's the first because we are seriously getting sick and tired of the second....

    I really, really, REALLY, hope that these server maintenance fixes will improve my CTD-issue about zoning to New Romulus, and various space combat, STF, Events and alike.
    for some odd reason ordinary PvE does not kick me to desktop.

    Could there be talk about some form for Large Memory Address-fix? Hmm? Pretty please.

    Any chance you could elaborate on that? Saying the patch is for "Server Stability Issues" is like saying "There are races besides the Founding Four in the Federation"; it's completely true, but it gives us no real information.

    Well, it's 16:38 here and I can't log in - server timed out.

    I guess it's taking longer than they expected.

    That's because the server is still down. You can see it on the STO homepage.

    The servers are in Pacific Time Zone (GMT-8), so when they say 7 to 9, they mean 7 to 9 Pacific, 10 to 12 Eastern (GMT-5), 3 to 5 GMT. That's why the first post has a "View It In Your Time Zone" link, so we can check that.

    Personally, I have an extra clock on my computer set to GMT-8 for the sole purpose of having a quick reference for STO's downtime.

    Another way to think of it is when they post the UTC times, the UK is behind them by an hour - so 2-4 is 3-5 for us.
