"Critics who say that the optimistic utopia Star Trek depicted is now outmoded forget the cultural context that gave birth to it: Star Trek was not a manifestation of optimism when optimism was easy. Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them." -Thomas Marrone
I was wondering what was going on when I got an email invite to play Romulan. Maybe I spent too much time on Tribble... or because in real life I'm a mobile product manager with a QA background.
...what are they actually giving out invites based on...
Playing style, system requirements, etc... Even though you may have paid for the game, like myself (F2P zen buyer), we might not have met other criteria. If Cryptic is looking for a heavy grinder who plays 35+ hours a week, I would get disqualified from that type of specification. Bandwidth is another possible criteria. It really could be anything.
I am a raving fan and serious critic, so that might disqualify me from the pool.
I am just happy to know that the expansion is on the way.
Guys. Guys! Listen! I...I didn't get an invite. Can...can I rage yet? Some one tell me when I can rage. Maybe I'll rage tomorrow. Just had a nice dinner and don't feel like raging. Or maybe I can rage until the next wave goes out? Someone tell me how beta rage works, I'm not good at it.
I'm hoping for an invite so I can create a Romulan on Tribble too.

I hope to get an invite, because I want to try this before I head to basic in 2 weeks. Starting in may, I'll be unable to access the game for about three months. Though I'll at least get me stipend :P

I'm totally crossing my fingers that I get one! I've always been a fan of romulan ship designs
Vice Admiral T'vix RRW Talon (Scimitar Drednought)
General S'tal IKS Q'vat (Bortasq' Battle Cruiser)
Go to the "Community Hub" on the main STO site, then select "Tribble Test Server".
No email for me so far. But congrats to everyone that did get invited!

I'm a bit jealous of you. I personally can't wait for May 21.
same here..but congrats to all who get to test the romulans
Here's a map to show how much they've screwed up the game map.
