Launcher, wont patch

launcher_zps80ac7425.jpg

I need a solution, I've already pinged the servers for both the launcher and patchserver that's not the issue. Its an incompatability with Windows 8 and an annoying one at that.

I had windows 8 installed previously, but I was getting some odd issues with windows itself and reinstalled and now STO will not function, I need a fix for this

Thanks for posting it. The nettest results definitely indicate that you should be able to connect without an issue. The next step would be to reach out to tech support via support.perfectworld.com or here so they can help you troubleshoot.

Hope to see you back in-game soon!

seemed to connect fine yesterday tho I got booted about a minute into the session, then ran fine for a couple hours till log-off.

"The Patchclient got a message while it was in a state with no response function" usually corrects itself after a couple of re-tries, but I'll send em a note. I just know it'll fix itself before they get back to me.

    update <facepalm>
The launcher was updated today. If you run into any issues, please utilize this link to manually download it: http://files.startrekonline.com/launcher/Star%20Trek%20Online.exe

    Cheers,

    Brandon =/\=

replaced current launcher with new one (above) and problem resolved.
WTF, really ? Launcher doesn't even update properly now ? STO has some serious issues lately.

Glad you got it working. :) The launcher does usually auto update for 99.99% of players but there seems to be a a few players who need to manually update.

    Hello there,

You should try to reset your router. I do a hard reset and the launcher works. I hope this helps you. :)

you guys are rather fortunate. I've even tried downloading the new launcher manually, and it still wont connect. I've tried rebooting, resetting the router and modem, nada. Nothing. Frankly I'm really bummed by it.

Hey, I've been trying to login to STO now for a couple of hours, and every time I try to open the launcher, it tries to update and says it can't connect to the patch server. I downloaded the patched version posted in the sticky, and it didn't change anything. Can you please tell us if this is our problem or yours? It seems like a lot of people are experiencing this problem.

When I replaced my launcher last night my OS saw it as a new file so I had give it new firewall permissions.

click 'properties' on your shortcut, then click the button that says 'find target'. I moved the original file to another location before replacing it just in case I need to restore it.

As the title says, patcher = kaput.
It fails on auto-update by timing out on connection attempts.
I've tried the new launcher as per Brandons advice, but no dice. It seems that the server is genuinely down.

I have to mention, this is a windows 7 rig and I'm connecting from the UK.

    Yes I do.

Normally the patcher stays up during maint, meaning you can get on to tribble.
Thing is, the patcher itself seems to be down

Eh, I find the launcher tends to die about every fifth patch day, just wait for the maintenence to be over and try again. I know you said you wanted to go on tribble but aren't they patching that as well anyway?
