Yet you have time to harvest large amounts of Dilithium?
Let me guess "dealing with" college?
One run of Dili mining during the hourly event + a rich dilithium mining claim = almost an entire days worth of dili.
add to that the dilitium from BNPs and Omega missions themselves and the Dilitium missions... you can make well OVER 8 thousand in less than an hour.....
We don't want what the Feds have. We want the equivalent. We want fairer treatment. Concern, desire, greed to some extent, and passionate belief that the enough people would buy KDF items to make it worth Cryptic's while.
Not too mention they are so tedious and boring and the Ferengi gets to keep most of the dil.
As for the hourly event, that rarely coincides with the times I get to play. Never understood why they tell me when I can play.
And how fast can you move up a level in your Starbase with 8,000 dil? That would be not at all. Cheapest dil price is 18,000 dil for 500 xp.
8,000 a day for 5 days is 40k Dilithium. That's enough to pay 1/5 of a Special Project all by yourself.
And if you think it's hard to make Dilithium in this game then you haven't been paying attention to the constant stream of threads about people wanting to raise the Dilithium Cap. It's clear many people make more than 8k per day. And if you have a KDF character Contraband falls from the sky.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.
The most important thing to keep in mind here is that Cryptic Studios is running a Free to Play game. There is no monthly fee or an initial Pay to Play aspect in this game. They must earn an income to pay for their servers, upkeep, services and employees. Encouraging players to spend money on the game, whether it's through buying items in the Zen store or converting it to dilithium via the exchange is a MAJOR factor in supplementing their income. As a matter of fact, it's the only means of doing so.
Therefore, if they put in a purely cosmetic project into fleets/embassies that is entirely *optional* for players to contribute to and a significant number of players do so, it is entirely in their (and in my opinion, the majority of players') best interests for means of profit. Do keep in mind that in most of these game models, a small percentage of players are actually paying >$10-15/month on average to support the game. Continuing to do so further extends the life of this game.
Whether Cryptic is doing what is in the customer's best interest is another discussion altogether, but not the case in point here. Although being the wishful thinker I am, Season 8 should prove to be a fairly impressive addition to the game.
Have any questions about the game? Send me a message and I'll be happy to help!
I have to admit though, certain things, like ship prices, take the micro out of microtransactions. Dilithium I dont really see as an issue, if thats what people are willing to pay, best of luck to them. The market gets what the market wants.

In all fairness, $20-$25.00 is not an uncommon price in the FTP industry. A Steed in LotRO will run you $20.00. Ships are far more versatile and useful to a character than a Steed is in LotRO - a ships IS your character for more than 50% of the game.
And, of course, with Dilithium grinding most people are not actually paying the $20-$25.00 for a C-Store ship. Most players are probably getting anywhere from a 25-75% discount. Personally, I have not purchased Zen since the game went FTP and I own every Fed ship that has been released to the C-Store - and I own several Lockbox ships, which I purchased from the Exchange.

Are you telling me that a free game cost to much money or you just want your stuff now.
This must be a new thing in world now
don't want to pay,
dont want to wait,
but got to have it now.
Nobody is saying that. What is being said is that the cost is too high. Dilithium is a very valuable resource which has several aspects of the game demanding it. Added on top of the daily dil cap, and many feel the cosmetic upgrades have too high of a price.
The new thing in the world is the inability of those who have to see what those that don't are upset about.
This is a common socialistic problem and is acerbated by the MMO culture.
People who get to spend more than a few hours a day playing a game need to understand that their progress and L337ness stems from the extra time they play and not that they are the chosen one. Practice makes perfect.
They also need to realize that those that can't play more than a few hours a day are actually working for a living so that those fortunates can play as much as they do.
TLDR: If your post sounds anything like, "I have a sandwhich, how can they be hungry" then you probably shouldn't post because you don't get it.

That isn't a new attitude; What you are describing tends to correlate with how much empathy a person has. The less capacity for empathy one has, the more likely they can not understand the position of others.
Starting to sound like the Communist Party of STO is forming in here. Workers of the world unite and all that TRIBBLE.
Communist Party?
By your definition the Federation is Communist because it has hundreds of species and planets working together for specific common goals.

That's true, with the amount you can use them you can definitely get your money's worth, and if you consider it a couple of months of subscription in the old model, a new ship every month and a half or so would probably be about right, and that isn't even accounting for the dilithium.
25 people in one fleet each contributing 1 day's worth of Dilithium will finish it immediately. 13 people doing the same thing two days in a row will also finish it.
Both my Federation and KDF fleets are medium to large size, have fun, nice people in them that I get along with, and we easily complete these projects with no trouble.
(Blacksheep and Bloodbath and Beyond, freakin' super people.)
If your fleet is too small, either recruit more people who will contribute, or join a larger fleet. Likewise, these are cosmetic changes, so if they are not something you deem useful, then do not slot them.
I lead a cross-game community, we have independent clans or guilds in other games, but in STO, we are merged into those other communities. We are not the lesser for it. I recommend you consider something similar, or otherwise learn to deal with it, because it is not going to change.
I see no issue here.
wel you should try canadian federation it's a very good team and active to.see you in space
it's the oh-poor-me the bad awful rich people are oppressing me stuff
UFP is a socialist paradise. No money, no poverty and general equality. It is "from each according to ability to each according to need". It is the very definition of that philosophy. I think people forget this because the titular ship was named "Enterprise" and nearly everyone spoke with an American accent.

just lol
know your game or pay your game
or both
Easy. Run projects that don't have any dil requirements. The 1,000 20h missions that just require loads of doffs - that's what we do.

The continuous push towards Communism.
I'm waiting for some company to actually figure out they can make ALL the money by simply making missions and Starbases scaleable.
The company that does this will win.

Look at this new "Legacy Pack"
$125 for e-items?
I could buy a brand new game to play for far less than half of that.
I spend on this game here and there when I want something, but that is just ridiculous.
Keep the titles and ships I won't use. I'll keep my $125 freaking real life dollars that will buy food, beer, smokes, clothes, dog toys and pay bills.
I think more than anything the fleet concept was to give you something to do for 6-12 months, mission accomplished no?
And if you need those t5 ships or other gear so bad buy your way in
People are posting here all the time about their Fleets being stolen.
If someone makes 20 Alts for the same Fleet what does it matter if the needs are scalable?
Are they trying to restrict Fleet ships and if so why?
