I can barely get past the patch to log on and when I do the server stops responding.
I think I'd be less stressed and pissed if Cryptic would explain what is going on somewhere, or have I missed it? I thought we had this issue resolved a few weeks ago with the 'guys in the middle' or are they like holding bandwidth hostage for more money as well?
I'm not going to ask for any 'free' stuff, but for crying out loud, throw us a bone here and tell us what is going on. We can take it. Geesh.
Yep, and still nothing, three days with problems, and nobody stops to take the time to tell us anything on cryptics end? Come on, with so many people paying a lot of money to play this game, can u really afford to keep us hanging? I was planning on buying a lifetime sub, but damn, Ive had more issues playing this game then a north korean missile launch!

Server disconnects and mission loading issues are happening in the Foundry editor too. Gee thanks Cryptic, I thought you wanted more User generated missions...?

Screwed again. Now the launcher seems to have bit the dust as nothing loads now.

Good to know that little green light on the front page shows the servers are up. Better to know that regardless of how boned the servers are, it always stays green.
Best of all is the lack of communication after over a day of unusable service.
omg this is infuriating to say the least,i just upgraded to gold, been running the game with virtually no problems, now all of a sudden my launcher starts slowing down and then not even able to open it...finnally ended up uninstalling and re-installing entire game, now on the 5th time, still cant get launcher to work properly and when i do,once im in game i cant zone into any areas or i get disconnected and the whole process starts all over...is there any fix to this?
agree with all other posts..........account server down-can't connect-when connects maybe 1 out of 20 times,,try to do anything get booted off again with server not available
So was this a response to 'your' post in that thread? or to someone else's post??? If you want a response for 'your problem' then...
If you continue with the continual stream of non-responsive, non-helpful posts in this thread I'm going to have to report you for trolling. I pointed out that the user received a "guess" pointing them to something on their end, while just yesterday in this thread staff clearly owned up to the responsibility being theirs.
If you can't help, stop trolling this thread. There are a lot of people having problems, and all you have is a broken record telling people to run tracerts over and over that don't help since a) PWE's network engineers...if they have any..have seen more than enough data to sort it out, b) they...they, they, they, they...should be the ones triggering remote connections from diverse endpoints to test this, and c) acceptable pings are coming from people who can't move zones without disconnecting and rubber-banding like there is no tomorrow. None of that generic tracert shows packet loss or timeout/retry commands being sent back by a node along the way.
I'll give you a suggestion though: If you really are that well versed in TCP and networking in general, how about seeing if there is a way to force route around cogento...since people are suggesting that's the problem instead of PWEs own network? Then explain to everyone else what forced routing is, and how to use the route command to add a static route to their routing tables. That way, at least, you'll have something useful to contribute to those of us having issues.
Unbelievable, going on 3 days now and still no solution to the constant disconnects and login problems. Seriously Cryptic, you are absolutely incompetent, let me say that again, INCOMPETENT! and whoever is responsible for fixing this needs to be fired because they have failed utterly. You haven't even released any updates saying what the hell the problem is, where the hell is the communication with the customers? What is funny is you guys haven't released a single update that could cause this and yet your 3 year old so called "stable" game is still breaking down when you haven't even done anything to it, its f**king embarrassing, your IT people should be embarrassed. Are subscribers even going to be reimbursed for these lost 3 days? why the hell should I continue subbing past my first month if you can't even keep your connections stable on normal days let alone patch days.
Seriously Cryptic, get your heads out of your asses and get this TRIBBLE fixed its getting ridiculous now. How you people keep your jobs is beyond me, I would have already fired all of you and brought people in that can get the job done.
I could not find a response in Dev tracking, did they respond to this issue? It seems to be getting worse day by day.

Hey everyone,
Really sorry about the latency and disconnect issues you're having. Right now, our engineers are aware that some of our players are experiencing these issues, and they're working on fixing it.
Again, I'm really sorry, and I promise we'll get this fixed as soon as possible.
This Bs Is Getting Ridiculous !!!!! I Am Trying To Log In Now And Keep Getting The Damned Server Not Responding This Is Beyond Stupid And It Needs To Be Fixed Now !!!!! I Keep Getting Either D/ced Or Not In At All !!!!!
I just noticed, I am getting into the game fine so far with my Klingon toon. I was able to get right in and even managed to get into a map to fight. I switched over to my Fed who is parked in Alpha Cent Tor system... I get server not responding and cant get to him at all.
** Never mind, died on Klingon now... just have been a one off I was able to get into the game.
I would really, really like to play your game, guys. It seems like everyone I know and everyone in my Fleet is having this issue. Every loading screen I come across is a gamble of whether or not I'll still be connected.
Please, please fix this as soon as possible. An entire weekend unable to connect is simply unacceptable. I don't want to lose interest in STO because of this.
for the last 2 days i keep losing server connection, i know its the game server because the rest of my internet is working fine...why don't they fix the damn thing, im sick of this TRIBBLE
...

Static routes is only of use if you are connected to multiple ISPs simultaneously, which is not applicable to the vast majority of STO users...
The only groups that have the ability to influence the Internet route declarations, is Cryptic/PWE through their Internet gateway declarations, and local ISPs through their peering relationships with the Internet Backbone providers...
(Which implies, that in addition to complaining to Cryptic/PWE to 'fix' their gateway, you can also complain to your local ISP to find a less congestive route to the STO servers)
DNS isnt about traffic routing, it is only address translation
once your "in the game" your computer and the server are talking and no longer need the DNS tables to traslate www.*****.com to what ever the IP is
Sorry! I meant VPN. This weekend has been a li8ttle frustrating with this whole issue. The two main main ones I used went through two separate locations. One was in Dulles, VA and the other in Seatle, WA. The trace routes on both were very different but seemed to still have issues. Through Seatle, WA, I seemed to get lucky more with less disconnections during map transfers but they still happen. On a connection that is 25Mbit down and 10Mbits up and getting those speeds through both company VPN's, the issue has got to be something either closer to, if not Cryptic.
The only issue that seems to stand out that I can't explain is a friend on a cable connection about 30 minutes away has no issues but I am on a Fiber DSL service. Perhaps that possibly has something to do with the current issues.
Edit: Witht he mention of Cogentco, I didn't see anything from Cogentco show up through the Seatle, WA VPN connection.

The only significant difference (as far as Internet connections are concerned) between a Cable and a DSL connection is that DSL has a lower upload speed. Both Cable and DSL have lower upload speeds then download speeds, but DSL more so.
The primary difference would be the route and the backbone providers to the STO servers, and no doubt your cable friend has a significantly different route to the STO servers then you do. (You can confirm this by comparing Trace Route outputs...) I myself have no problems with my connection to STO from my northern California Comcast ISP.
I'm hitting about 300 seconds in the loading screen before disconnecting... What is going on? (Also, bad time to run a promotion/event when we can't even access it.)

You can try using the proxy connections in Options on the game launcher that might help.
Asking your ISP for a new public IP address might help too.

I got a VPN connection to see if that helps things out, and it did. Connecting to a US VPN server solved my lag and poor patch speed issues.
Very strange. Hope it can be sorted cause now I'm paying for a VPN just to play the game without lagging.

Sorry for the rant, but it needs to be said.
Would you by any chance know what route the VPN service is taking to PWE's server farm?
