Obviously that is Tosk of Borg! I mean, everyone know that he is an absolute JOKE of a boss compared to Becky, Armek and Queenie. Clearly he's out for revenge!
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.
Funny how the Number One Argument for the Romulan Faction once was "There is absolutely NO way they are gonna do these Teasers "just" for some FE or PVE Content ..." ... but I guess some people are gonna believe in playable Hakeev Clones by now :P
Patch Notes : Resolved an Issue, where people would accidently experience Fun.
It may be Hakeev. Stahl confirmed that Hakeev is dead. If you squint, you can see the "Hakeev" in that picture appears to have hair.
I see three possibilities:
Time travel.
Flashbacks that flesh out the Romulan perspective.
Romulan faction which possible stretches back far enough to show Romulan perspective of events. So maybe it starts with the Romulus evacuation and has us encounter all these characters and we get to learn things like what Sela's relationship to the Tal Shiar was.
It may be Hakeev. Stahl confirmed that Hakeev is dead. If you squint, you can see the "Hakeev" in that picture appears to have hair.

I haven't followed all the topic, but those quotes from Stahl seems to indicate it's Hakeev from the past. Or the future. Or something related to time travel.
Are you insinuating that Hakeev is pulling a Princess Bride... he's MOSTLY dead...?
I guess he is part Borg... but hmm.....
The Borgs are expert on time travel. Hakeev may have used his Borg knowledge and enhancements to travel through time. Maybe he is the Hakeev from the past.
Or maybe Stalh is just trying to lead us astray, so we don't found the truth.
Did anyone consider that a potential Rom faction would have to start around the same time as the FED and KDF? Wich means that story-line wise, the first levels of a romulan faction would have to take place before the events with Hakeev.
So not nessacarily time-travel.
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
The face has a bit of Nero and Reman in it. Making the face too obvious would just ruin the surprise so I'm sure that this face looking so vague is intended.
I still think this is episodic content featuring Sela, returning to New Romulus with the Iconians in tow. If every mission in this arc was of the same quality as Temporal Ambassador it would be worth all the fan fare.
I also think (rather hope) that it is also the new KDF and PvP content/features that was originally promised. For me all these expectations are realistic. A full playable faction? Well...I'm not expecting it.
It could be anything. I just hope it's not another time travel episode/FE. I wish the devs could make a good mission NOT involving time travel. That's the easy shortcut when your imagination runs dry.
Why not the new Romulan Praetor? Or the new Romulan leader if Sela dies sometime during the FE?

Not necessarly. If we don't share storyline mission with KDF and fed, it doesn't need to take place on the same time. For example, you can start on new romulus. But it would imply a lot of fresh new missions to lvlup.
Also, you can "join" the storyline after the romulan missions. Which is around lvl 30 ? Join for the cardassians mission, breen, borgs and undine. They are supposed to happen after hakeev's death, we just don't know how long after his death.
That would be quite the same than Klingons. They start at a higher lvl, do a first chapter unique to them, then join the fed storyline. Romulan could have the same, except they'll join later.
I'm quite sure New Romulus was added to the game so they can have something to start with for a Romulan faction.
Ooooo this is all very intriguing. I noticed the face straightaway and the pointy ears, but have to be ashamed and admit i didn't know what the ridges implied lol. For some reason i always forget the remans.
So let's see what we have so far. We have what looks like a starfleet officer carrying a woman with long hair either out or into a fire. And we have a reman hovering over a planet, is that new romulus? And you guys reckon it's a part borg reman with one of his eyes looking like a laser?
That planet actually looks quite grey and industrial looking at it. A borg colonised planet? How new romulus could end up if we don't save it from this borg/reman?
So you get your kicks from pointing and laughing at peoples disappointment and play a game and post to forums that has content you do not enjoy? The game is not so populated with you negative types as much as they are just far more vocal on the forums. You need to pet a puppy, look at a rainbow, smell some fresh baked cookies and get a hug. I pity you and your sad, bitter existence.

Yes, I get my kicks from this and do like to laugh. Its always the same people that defend Cryptic's incompetence again and again and again. Pretty much everything they release never lives up to advertising, unless it has a rather large price tag on it.
I am a Star Trek fan, not a Cryptic abomination fan and if you think that by being critical and realistic due to Cryptic's track record of incompetent decisions, rushed development, game bugs and broken promises/outright lies is somewhat "sad and bitter"... then I actually pity you because I'd rather live with eyes open then up Cryptic's ....
Fill in the blank...
Activision may be considered as "bad as EA" but at least they made Star Trek games that were not biased to certain ships and were actually fun and well written.
- Armada
- Bridge Commander
- Starfleet Command
- Elite Force
All of them really urinate over this game and its lack-luster attempt to be Star Trek. Because the developers do not understand Star Trek and come off as DS9 Junkies that are obsessed with combat and large battles. Completely missing the point.
I'll stop complaining when Cryptic actually does something right... Because it just looks like a Second-Rate Fan Fiction.

man, what is your problem? you are free to play the game in a way YOU want.
you & friends wanna play one-man missions? create or find such missions in the Foundry.
i certainly do not think the game does not have room to improve, but nobody forces you to grind, to play the DS9 missions (which i do not like also), ALL PVE content is doable in MKX greens..
we get to play our own toons , we get to equip and customize our crew/ships, as FED or KDF, many races, we can even "fake" few others, there are locations from ST to be visited, and there are opportunities to have fun with friends or just fight VARIOUS enemies now (not only borg).
i for example really LOVE the salt vampires (too bad i do not need any marks, as i get enough from DOFFing, so i am not playing the FA very often)
Star Trek is a huge franchise and i can imagine their issues with CBS and JJ trek now.
Overall, from the F2P launch, they are doing a fine job.

Actually F2P has been the worst thing in this game, it has turned Cryptic into greedy and money hungry game breakers. They don't bother making any cosmetics items but instead come up with vessels to dramatically alter the game balance. This game had flaws at launch but at least there was better balance then there is now...
F2P has destroyed this game, just the same as ToR was destroyed by it. When a game goes F2P, you kinda know that they are admitting its a failure.
It is obvious that Cryptic no longer care about STO and are just using it to extract money for their salaries and development of Neverwinter which will ultimately cause STO to suffer.

I loved all of these games that you pointed out. They were fun and exciting. But the thing that you have to remember, the points that you make about these games revolve around the SINGLE player aspect of the game. But was the multiplayer in all of these games? Armada: large space battles...Bridge Commander...ditto...Starfleet Command...Ditto again. And Elite Force was a fragfest both in Single player story mode and multiplayer.
It is interesting that the games that you hold in such high esteme at the core are exactly like STO as far as combat, but they are limited in that the stories end, then all you have is repetitive multiplayer combat...(Armada was my favorite ST game ever)...except armada where no multiplayer game was the same and actually took skill. Sto on the other hand is open ended, has content added, has user created content, and has multiple methods of leveling.
With all due respect, your logic in my opinion is flawed. Comparing those games to STO is like comparing Steak to peanuts. Both are good, but are in different food groups.

Of course, the best of these games was undoubtedly "Birth of the Federation". That game required a certain level of intelligence to play and skill to balance the economic and exploratory factors.
Granted it was a different type of game but it would be nice if STO had that level of immersion in Starbase and Colony management.

The first paragraph because it's the ultimate truth.
The second one because it's my greatest wish since I started playing STO!

Actually... YOU, "think it's the worst thing"...
Many, many of the rest of us are quite happy with how things have turned out...
I do wish you would stop making grandiose statements that clearly only apply to your feelings toward the game and have little to no reflection on how most others feel.
Also... every MMO out there must be a failure according to your logic, as almost all of them have gone or are going, F2P.

I agree, BotF was an awesome game. I played it for years. If it worked on my Windows Vista, I would be playing it still. But, even that revolved around combat.
The point I am trying to make, is that when making a game like STO, it has to cater to the highest demographic, and not JUST to Star Trek fans. Same as in making in Movies.
Look at JJ Abrams Star Trek. He made a movie that catered to multiple demographics, and it became a Blockbuster. Do some Hard Core ST fans like it? No. Did it breathe life into the ST franchise? Heck yes. If it was made to just cater to ST fans, the movie would have flopped
Same goes for games. How many people would play if all you did all day was sit in your ship singing requesition forms and scanning gaseous anomalies? And occasionally rescueing a stranded freighter? People want action. More people want to blow TRIBBLE up and have an adventure. And thats what Cryptic and PWE are catering to.
I have been a ST fan(atic) since i was 5. I was hooked from the first time saw an episode of TOS. I have seen the good and bad. And I can truly say that I have seen the worse of fandom.
That being said, I am not by any means saying that STO is perfect. I am saying that I wish people would try to keep things in perspective. We all want things the way that we want them, but alas, like life, that just cant happen. Just remember, STO, like real life or the "Star Trek Universe" is a work in progress. Lets all take a step back, and see that there is a future, and hope for the best.
Besides, worrying about things that havent even happened yet cause ulcers...I dont like ulcers:)

That is true. And if we get KDF levels 1-50 I imagine that B'vat might be your boss for a couple of them.

i actually like him, he tends to die in a very pompous way, which makes my toons feel good
(was replaying some Romulan episodes just yesterday)
question for DStahl:
- if we are now having the whole temporal sets ingame, plus the new film and everything is turning to be about time travel,
DO WE GET TO SEE SILIK AGAIN?
how about temporal cold war and the Vosk?
at some point?
perhaps playable Suliban in the Zen store?
(as they have no homeworld and for all we know they are (outside the Cabal) not very different from humans)
or at least a Suliban textures in the alien toon creator?
There's a good chance you'll see a Suliban in the future seeing as the Suliban Helix is in the Tau Dewa sector.
I hope he have Obisek voice.

You just have to lvl only on new romulus via epooh und nanov tagging and repelling insects

you just have made my day! thank you! (and you told me more than i needed to know , thank you for it too.. )
really looking forward to creating a Suliban toon in the RSE, and buying him a lockbox Suliban ship
(will be needing a captain rename token too)
- anybody willing to play my Fed's in the meantime?
I'm going to have nightmares tonight.
