What if they just mass-shove the entire game forward a few years, so all the Fed/KDF stuff is considered an historical holodeck interpretation/recording/reliving of events, and Fed/KDF/Rom stuff is the new 'now'?

Actually... YOU, "think it's the worst thing"...

Many, many of the rest of us are quite happy with how things have turned out...

I do wish you would stop making grandiose statements that clearly only apply to your feelings toward the game and have little to no reflection on how most others feel.

Also... every MMO out there must be a failure according to your logic, as almost all of them have gone or are going, F2P.

Yes, of course. I bow to your superior knowledge... XD Considering that WoW is still very much King of the MMO's and does not use a F2P system. Unfortunately, this model comes from American philosophy infecting the gaming market, the ideals of F2P is akin to Hyper-Capitalism just to make maximum profit for minimal effort.

This is the reason Cryptic have not bothered to fix bugs or to change some powers that are still as worthless as they were at launch. You cannot charge players for bug fixes or the free powers in the game, can you?

So, Hakeev is the new Locutus?

Or, is it just more of the Tal Shiar adopting borg tech?

    Or both?

Yes, I get my kicks from this and do like to laugh. Its always the same people that defend Cryptic's incompetence again and again and again. Pretty much everything they release never lives up to advertising, unless it has a rather large price tag on it.

I am a Star Trek fan, not a Cryptic abomination fan and if you think that by being critical and realistic due to Cryptic's track record of incompetent decisions, rushed development, game bugs and broken promises/outright lies is somewhat "sad and bitter"... then I actually pity you because I'd rather live with eyes open then up Cryptic's ....

    Fill in the blank...

Activision may be considered as "bad as EA" but at least they made Star Trek games that were not biased to certain ships and were actually fun and well written.

    - Armada
    - Bridge Commander
    - Starfleet Command
    - Elite Force

All of them really urinate over this game and its lack-luster attempt to be Star Trek. Because the developers do not understand Star Trek and come off as DS9 Junkies that are obsessed with combat and large battles. Completely missing the point.

I'll stop complaining when Cryptic actually does something right... Because it just looks like a Second-Rate Fan Fiction.

You seem to have your own head up your own.....

These are your opinions and state them as gospel. I am not being a fanboy, I am merely sick of relentless negativity. If STO is so awful and Cryptic so incompetent, why are you playing? Why are you posting on the forums in regards to a game you hate? I already know the answer: you bitter types like to troll these forums and pick petty arguments for no other reason than to pick an argument and have a back and forth.
Your hate comes shining through your bitter vitriol. I do pity you. Delete your account and uninstall this terrible game so you don't have to suffer anymore. I know Ill miss you!

I couldn't be more in agreement. Why should I care what the naysayers say... its not going to stop me from giving this game the rightful criticism it deserves. If you wanna bury your head in the sand... go ahead.

Some of us feel that acknowledgement of the problems is half the battle in fixing them. Since Cryptic won't do that themselves.... well...

I would call saying I have my head up my rear a personal attack. Also being presumptuous saying I blindly defend every decision the developers make/have made. Check some of the cruiser threads for a bit of reference. You and others of your ilk do not seem to allow that changes can be made for the better. Nope, just more of the same song of "Cryptic sux, STO sux, look at what they have done, it will always suck." So it's all doom and gloom. It is IMPOSSIBLE based on the past to say that anything in the future will be worthy. We may as well give up and shut down. That in my opinion is just unfairly negative. Why give anyone or anything a chance? Every game has it's flaws. No MMO will ever completely satisfy everyone who plays it. But I allow that changes can be made for the better, despite past mistakes. I will even submit that you can move beyond your blind hate of any thing Cryptic does and hope for the best!

This is one possibility I'm suggesting. I'm not sure it will be 1-50. It could be abbreviated. But I think it could well feature a tutorial and/or events that act as prequels or show content from another perspective.

And if so, man, that's a lost sales pitch they could have had for people to roll Klingon. Y'Know, "if you want to know what's going on with how B'vat got a Doomsday device, roll a Klingon for that half of the story."

Although I still think they should have account bound rewards in each faction.

For example: A three piece item set. One part awarded from a max level Fed mission, one part awarded from a max level KDF mission, one part awarded from a max level Rom mission.

Or crafting that requires max level crafters in more than one faction to produce account bound components for a super-weapon or ship or bridge officer.

    Likewise with professions.

Maybe something really uber that requires, for example, max level Sci, Tac, and Eng on your account. And another component that requires max level KDF, Fed, and maybe Romulan on an account.

Put the pieces together and get a species/ship/profession unlock. Not unlike the epic classes from City of Heroes.

So you have, say, a Preserver featured episode series.

But instead of 5 missions for everyone, you have:

    One Fed mission.
    One KDF mission.
    One Tac mission.
    One Sci mission.
    One Eng mission.

    All require level 50.

All give you a deeper perspective on the Preserver story.

And yes, you'd need a minimum of 3 level 50s to do all of this.

Complete all of these on an account... And get a special ship and a handful of exotic species unlocks (say, Talaxian, Xindi Primate, Salt Vampire, things that belong outside theAlpha Quadrant or are extinct) and a cross-profession support themed kit. Which does things like summons 2 nurses of exotic species, creates a Preserver obelisk that acts as a healing fabrication, has a shield recharge, etc.

Isn't there already a thread EXACTLY about this, with EXACTLY the same references?

Also, no one says he is coming back... If the a romulan faction starts out at the same point as the KDF and FED, your career will start well before the events of the Romulan FE.

Edit: Oh look... they were merged.
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Let me put the rumors to rest: it's definitely still the C-Store (Cryptic Store) It just takes ZEN.
