Way back a year ago when cross faction consoles started making their way into boxes in the first place and they relaxed the restrictions on which consoles can be used on what ship types, they said in an interview (I believe it was Priority One, tho it may have been another podcast... so many and it was so long ago...) that it was their intention to make all of those consoles cross faction.

You are beating a dead horse. They decided a year ago that we would get access to all of them. Any whining done about cross faction consoles now is just residual butt hurt.

No matter what people want from the other faction, or begrude the other faction getting it, we can be pretty sure there is going to be another trade with the next lockbox.

If we leave out the ship-specific consoles we get:

    KDF:
    - Aceton Assimilator
    - Barrier Field Generator
    - Magnetometric Generator
    - Plasmonic Leech

    FED:
    - Enhanced Plasma Manifold
    - Grappler
    - Ionized Gas Sensor
    - Tachyon Detection Field
    - Transwarp Console

so it's pretty much a 50/50 chance feds will get Plasmonic Leech or the Assimilator in the next Box....

Over half year I have been farming for my KDF consoles, leech, aceton, interceptors, marauding party, graviton beam, subspace jump, bio-neural... etc etc.. I paid zen for my kdf luxury, why shouldn't you pay for it? you already have luxury, say it to your 50k hull tiny rock sized escorts with 5 tactical consoles, and then come back to our 30k bops that have no aft weaponry or boff stations, we have cloak and nothing else, not even a single raptor with 5 tac consoles, I thought raptors are war machines of damage and destruction... feds have nothing to offer us anymore, you gave us your point defence system which is only decent in KASE to take the probes out in no time. sure if we give anything away to you, you can have that ****ty barrier generator just like you gave us photonic displacer and impulse burst, give us your universal multivector module, battle cloak console for our gurambas and bortasques and that wierd emission seeking torpedo gas detecting console!

This is why we can't have nice things.

I believe in, and really hope that STO continues to maintain UNIQUE and DISTINCT technologies for each of the factions. Yes, eventually technologies will cross pollinate, but it takes decades to be effectively utilized.

    Leave faction specific tech unique.

If Feds got the Assimilators the KDF PVP'rs wouldnet know what to do with themselves. Feds could start spamming them at the spawn points also and using them as a crutch when they run into any opponent that offers up any kind of fair challenge, its either cloak and run or drop as many Assimilators as possible.

For sake of discussion, would the KDF players be interested in one of the following?

one piece over time (maybe three lock boxes) for the Vesta's Experimental Systems Set

The Vesta's Aux Phaser DHC (albeit in Disruptor form)

The Heavy Escort Carrier's Torpedo Point Defense System

The Assault Cruiser Refit's Wide Angle Quantum Torpedo (great for cruisers!)

I bring these up because so many times in these conversations the talk always steers towards the crappy consoles that the FEDS have...if they (the Devs) got out of the box a bit (pun totally intended) they could flip some interesting consoles to the KDF.

no go on the experimental stuff or TPDS, because those are all ship-specific consoles, and those will never go into lockboxes, but the other stuff would be nice...as long as the auxiliary cannons came in all damage types, for those of us who prefer to use something other than boring phasers/disruptors

Well...you sayyyyy no go.... but aren't all these ship specific consoles anyways? ;p

Thats the thing in order to make what on the surface would be a balanced lock box console swap they would have to get out of the box...short of creating new consoles that are faction universal there are only so many other ways to go. Swap out the energy type on the vesta set and in theory it could work... in theory being the key word lol.

No, they're not. The Vesta consoles can only be equipped on Vestas. The, say, Impulse Capacitance Cell, can be equipped on any ship you own.

Because I have to pay zen for the fed specific consoles, which you get to buy for under 1M EC?

They're under 1m EC for a reason. Nobody wants your consoles.

Its more an overwhelming surplus of supply than a lack of demand.

However 90% of the special ability consoles are not worth the slot. You are almost always better served using a Field Generator or Neutronium Armor.

How about no more kdf consoles for the feds what so ever and the carriers are taken away from the feds too. Stop stealing our stuff.

the KDF doesn't have a monopoly on carriers, sorry to say; as long as the federation continues having to pay for all of theirs, i'm content

as for them stealing consoles, we're at war; do you expect them to ask nicely for our tech? besides, 80% of federation captains can't use our stuff to its fullest potential anyway
