Yes, I was deeply dissapointed by the Kumari Variant. It has even less heals than the Defiant.
Seriously, what would you do with all those tac boff slots? My Fleet Definat runs
Com: TacT / CRF / BO3 / APO
Lt Com: TacT / CRF / APB
Esn: ? Dont remember, never use it.
If I didnt run one DBB it would be even worse. I wouldnt know what to do with the extra Lt tac powers. Unless you run a torp or mine there is nothing left to use.
I will most likely get the Khyzon (sci) and put an engineer in the uni slot. Less DPS but I might actually live.
Still either way, 5th tact console slot won't matter much if the BOFF layout is setup to the point that when the Elite Cubes turn and look at you, you're pretty much boned outside of a pocket healer.
So basically run an all human BOFF team?
Anyways, I'm currently running an escort with Polarons. But this ship has me thinking I'm going to have to switch to phasers?

With just an ensign Engie and a lt. universal on the Tact. Version... yeeaahh.. not even sure al lhuman is gonig to help you. I was meaning the stations when I said BOFF layout.
As for switching to phasers. It depends on if the console abilities are boosted by damage consoles like the Gal-X spinal lance is. If it is, well, might want to to get the most bang for buck if you intend to use all of the ship's gimmicks. I highly doubt theres any other type of Wing Cannon than andorian phaser after all. ;p
I'm quite excited the ship I waited for so long finally arrived.
Kumari version is a strange beast. The ensign on fleet defiant was already more of a waste than an asset.
Phasers on it. Andorian phasers- remains to be seen if they are any good. If they are just blue phasers weaker than fleet versions I guess I will stick to plasma armament.
I like the Kumari Class. Hope they sell them separate. As I would love to have that one. That screen shot it firing the cannons did it for me. I can use this on my Tactical Captain.

That combined with the DOFF selections will probably make the Engineering or Science version extremely playable.
And the Tactical version kind of fun to goof around in.
I'm not a hardcore PVPer. I'm not a hardcore PVE-er. Though I guess I do more hardcore PVE than PVP. I think this ship will fit what I want to do with my character very well.

Yeah, that's what I was pondering. If they do boost the gimmicks, then I really ought to invest in +Phaser tactical consoles and Phaser weapons just to keep things streamlined. But damn, I've grown to love the purple splatter of polarons.
Looks good, I'll buy it. Honestly, I think the boff layout on the Tac version is necessary, otherwise it would be too OP. I do hope the KDF gets a comparable ship, not cut and paste, something unique for KDF would be nice.
I'm just happy to see a Z-store ship instead of a lockbox ship.
Edit: I can already tell the cannon platforms will be TRIBBLE.

According to the last blog post, they will sell them individually for 2500 zen. And the three pack for 5000 zen. And they go on sale on the 21st.
As with all things Cryptic, this is still probably subject to change.
5 DHCs with 4 tac consoles will give me better damage/dps than my current 4 DHCs with 5 tac consoles. Even if I don't use the wing cannons or set consoles, I'm expecting to do better in the science variant then in my current Jem'Hadar Attack Ship (although the reduced turn rate might affect it somewhat).
yeah I think its safe to say that the Andorian Escort just became the Federation's first Bird of Prey equivalent...
I don't know. 4/2, battle cloak, universal Boff's it is still a class of its own. However I am seriously thinking of buying the Andorian package. 75 crew, it is a small ship. I love small ships. It is the right thing for my characters. If they look big alongside other vessels, I will be dissappointed and the deal is off.
Well. The stats have been released. And I can safely say that I will now only be seeing Kumari variants in ESTFs. 5 forward facing weapons. That's 4 DHCs (including that special Andorian cannon), and a hyper plasma torp.
The KDF got shafted. Again. They were given NOTHING equivalent, just like with the Vesta. What gives Cryptic??? They release the Steamrunner (fed only with NOTHING given to the KDF), the Vesta (fed only again... KDF gets... wait for it... NOTHING), the Fleet Failcelsior and Fleet Assault Cruiser (fed only... KDF gets... oh look, they actually got something, a fleet B'rel and Fleet Varanus... AMAZING), and now this Kumari 3 pack. That's 9 ships that the feds have gotten, and only 2 for the KDF. Whaaaaa....
Anyways, that rant over with, this escort is basically quite nice, even though the base hull is a little lacking, but with it's shield mod that's not that big of a deal. The Tactical one is a little... um... inefficient with it's BOff layout, the Engineering one is VERY nice, and the Science one is a little... interesting. All those science consoles with such limited science BOffs. Very interested to see builds on that thing.
Be that as it may, I am slightly disappointed with all but one of the variants, but will probably buy the 3 pack just to see what each one can do.
Other than the blatant disregard for the KDF, well done Cryptic. Nice ship.
It is said the best weapon is one that is never fired. I disagree. The best weapon is one you only have to fire... once.
Lol, should be playable.... should be playable? Should be... hmmm
Kumari, beautiful ship, totally worthless. Can't do much with all that tac. It's as the old saying goes, "You can have so many options that you have no options."
But as far as the Charal and Khyzon goes these ships don't look familiar at all in their boff layout?
They are just slightly better then the Patrol escort so that slots them in the 4-5 spot above the patrol escort with the Kumari being a far far distant 14 or something it's set up is just god awful, it's basically death on wings. you can alpha strike someone with limited skills in early pvp and then afterwards you're pretty much going to be the reason your team will lose.
The only thing I am not liking is that it's a DHC TRIBBLE child, it's beginning to become kinda irksome since players believe that DHC's are the hear all be all of ship builds and you can throw the most convalesced TRIBBLE together put dhc's on it and some how it's viable.
I think someone said it earlier on that this is just a careful distraction to take away from the fact that this game is moving away from beams and on to dhc's. More and more each upgrade I am expecting to see Tie Fighters and such in game since it's beginning to seem more like star wars and less and less like star trek and the fix is so easy, just make beams more playable. you'll get 3/4 of the community who play with sci and eng capts to stop complaining and I'll actually see some interesting pvp battles instead of the Ace Combat Space version we are having atm.
But anywho, that's my two cents from the kittymomo brigade and now we shall raid the kitchen for cookies and milk.

Heh... and the irony of this thing being a flying gun means that they will try to distract us from the obvious short-falls of the other two ship classes by baiting us with this new escort. And they have stressed it's wing-mounted cannons to the point where they will try to distract us from the fact that beams are not nearly as good as they should be.
I see this ship as two things.
1) A distraction away from the problems with cruisers and science ships.
2) A beautifully designed (at least as it's in-game sprite goes) escort/heavy escort/destroyer based off of a nice (albeit ancient) ship design.
I will reserve further judgment until it's stats come out. Hopefully it's not as much of a disappointment as the JHEC and JDC were.
Hm... Yeah I think someone did post about it being a distraction away from the game's obvious and disgusting favoritism being shown towards escorts. And it is. Now that the stats have come out, it just completely and irrevocably reinforces my post. This is one of those times where I really hate being right.
It is said the best weapon is one that is never fired. I disagree. The best weapon is one you only have to fire... once.
put mask energy sig. and rev shield polarity, creep on a player uload everything then run like hell
....on that note, seems like the Adapted MACO is what is called for.........just from looking back on the stats......
....I'm going to laugh if this is such a long term play - as in create a "really glassy" glass cannon(Kumari), make an even bigger, tank (Odyssey), and even more surgical Sci(Vesta)........anyone remember the circle of death?.............man I crack myself up......
I don't know if I can warehouse my beloved Jem Attack Ship. I worked too hard to get it. But in the unlikely event I do, I'll fly the engineering variant. That tac variant is going to go boom. A lot.

That's why I put my lock box ships on KDF toons .... Feds have more ships coming out on a regular basis.
That way I get to play with the FED toys but still have uber toys for my KDF characters as well.
I'm sure she will be fine, but that boff layout... on the tac version at least... Even using a DBB or a Torp I'm hard pressed to fill the slots well instead of tossing something in to fill it. The other 2 variants lose the 5th tac console. 5th forward weapon slot is nice, but it comes at the expense of a rear one and a decent boff layout or 5th tac console... She might just break even. The console set seems nice, but like all console sets eat up space... Tho the burst dps cooldown at least should be worthy if it conforms to previous "lances." I don't figure they will rule the skies, at least not once the initial wave of newness wears off.
My wallet is pretty happy, tho. I'll wait and see on this one. My tac is KDF anyway, and my sci is pretty happy in the ships she owns.
I once again match my character. Behold the power of PINK!

2 Fleet Patrol Escort
3 Chimera
4 Jem'hadar Attack ships

Even the squishiest Fleet escort (Defiant) can out tank this thing....
Anyone who decides to pilot the the Tac version, might get one shot off before certain death, glass cannon indeed.
Especially in elite stf's lol
We are, don't worry.
If you are having trouble killing current escorts in pvp, I very much doubt you will succeed with the Kumari either....

That third turret was making all the difference in the world when shooting outside of the frontal firing arc? I don't think so.
