Put a nice Wind Power plant for my city maybe put down a few gambling houses and a rail station. Oh and even maybe make a great work like a solar farm.
To Quote Khan in regards to the ambassador class it mocks me it mocks me and i must have it i will walk the rings of nebir cross the antaress maelstrom and go through perditions flames before i give up on aquiring that ship but hope all goes well and we are up soon
Some of you folks make me embarrassed to be both a fan of Star Trek, and a long-tie member of this game... especially the ones with the "I've been here a WHOLE WEEK and it has sucked the entire time!" attitude...
The 3-year anniversary of STO is February 2nd. Thursday is almost ALWAYS a patch/maintenance day. You are NOT going to miss out on your precious ship, you are NOT going to miss out on the anniversary, and all this raging does nothing but demonstrate a serious entitlement complex. Events like this always begin post-patch.
So, do what you need to do, Cryptic. I hope there aren't too many last-minute bugs being found, because as a huge fan of Yesterday's Enterprise, I am really looking forward to this event.
Ragers? Chill out. Seriously. The event is 2 weeks long. Take a nap or something until maintenance is done.
I am aware of the launcher problems. The issue is that those started on Monday IIRC. It is Thursday. Just saying, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday would be the time to look into that specific issue.
Doing a little bit of reading between the lines, but Bran said 'routing vendor', which says to me that they are rerouting the path it takes for everyone to get to the launcher. The previous ISP/servers they had a relationship with seemed to be a problem. If they are moving / rerouting / repopulating nameservers on the Internet, they really have no control over how long it will take once they update them.
They also (thankfully) seem to have been "looking into" this for a much longer time than just Mon, Tues, and Wed. You don't change something like that without an incredible amount of work and planning, and having tracerts to see where people are being routed will give them an idea of what nameservers have received the change and where.
I'm rather glad they decided to take the time to make sure everyone can connect rather than a much louder outcry if they tried to take care of it AFTER the event started. Fingers crossed we will not have the "unexpected downtime" on Saturday prime time. Time will tell.

I know that creating a virtual world the size of STO & making changes to it while it's running must be a real pain the TRIBBLE, & glitches are always bound to happen.
Also, these people create new content 3 or 4 times a year, compared to other games I've played/heard of which don't create new missions anywhere NEAR as frequently.
I know the developers & the designers take a LOT of TRIBBLE from irate players who are frustrated that they have to find something else to do in Meatworld instead of immersing themselves in an imaginary world for a few hours, but I think you guys do great work & deserve a lot of praise as well.
On behalf of all of us players who actually understand that you guys are working your asses off & can't possibly please everybody in the world, I want to thank you guys for all the hard work you do.
Maybe they're not feeding the hamsters enough to get them to run faster...:D
There is about as much water on Earth now as there was three billion years ago. But while the amount of water has remained static, the amount of tequila and Triple Sec available for the making of Margaritas has expanded enormously. So you see, we have made progress after all. ~Anonymous

Is there any way that the patch and update downtimes could be scheduled with a bit of variation? You have many players/customers in many time zones. Always bringing the servers down during the same time zone's prime playtime seems very geopraghically prejudice -hint hint, nudge nudge ;)...food for thought. Customer happiness = latinum in your bank.
We are still on track to be finished at noon PST. We're going to do one more test in just a few minutes, though, that should not affect our ETA. I'll make a post in here when we'd like you to try the launcher again. Thanks for your patience and understanding -- the data we and our routing vendor are getting has been crucial, so thank you again for all of the help with testing
Cheers,

Could you please put it in the red bar that says the "maintenance has been extended" instead of just letting us hang around trying to read all this stuff about cheetos being thrown at the screen...I like that one...
